Elliot Anderson

The more I see of him the more I like him.

Him & Wharton would be the two I’d target.

Baleba’s form this season since the failed move is far too much of a red flag for me. Thats not the type of attitude or mental resilience thats needed at a club like United

Same for me, splurge on these 2, and wing back and someone who can play #9 or one of the forward options in the summer and we're balling

Marinakis will be a royal pain to deal with. He thinks he is at the pinnacle of English football pyramid, and how dare someone buy his players. They skinned Newcastle alive for Elanga.

Yet players still sign for us, go figure.

Yup Liverpool were dogshit for 20 years and still attracted players, you only need to show you are building something for people to care.

We are also still the bigger club, with a decent midfield we are a top 4 team

Much more about him than Wharton. Just looks like a United player - whatever that means. Brave and tries things!

The more I watch him the more I see Roy Keane in his Forest days and in his early days with us, a proper all round midfielder who’s all non stop energy and can defend as well as attack but also great on the ball but most of all demands the ball and is always available.
Said the same a few months back. Really reminds me of Keane.

This column usually picks out three individual performances that contributed to their team achieving positive results but Elliot Anderson's efforts demand a rethink. Nottingham Forest were beaten 2-0 at home to Brighton but his stats were noteworthy.

Anderson created six chances in the game and completed six dribbles. No other Premier League player managed either feat over the weekend. The only player to hit both numbers in the same game so far this season is Arsenal's Bukayo Saka in October.

Unlike Saka, Anderson's 13 ball recoveries were also a Premier League high in a game in which the midfielder had 107 touches. This remarkable combination of the ability to win the ball, run with it and create, is vanishingly rare even at the elite level of the game.

Perhaps the context will make that clear. The last central midfield player to create so many chances in a Premier League game, while also hitting these numbers, not to mention intercepting and displaying a range of pass too, was Luka Modric in 2011.

Fourteen years have passed since that performance for Tottenham against Blackpool. Another similarity is that Spurs failed to win that day too. Even so, Anderson's numbers show why the in-demand England international is seen as someone who can do everything.

Is there any chance of getting him in January?

Given Forest’s precarious league position, I’d say zero chance. They’d be crazy to let such a key player leave mid season whilst relegation remains a risk.

Moreover - Anderson would be foolish to leave. He’s guaranteed game time, and his goal has to be starting at the World Cup. You wouldn’t risk that.

papers are saying that he's told those close to him he prefers a move to City over United

seems like he's a very similar player to Reijnders that they just purchased in the summer

If he has no allegiance to either club then it’s not hard to see why he’d prefer Shitty over us.

He's rumoured to be going to Liverpool.

I think part of the reason we enquired about Baleba in the summer is that we might have a free run at him.

If we cant get Wharton or Anderson we should try to push for Tonali way before Baleba.

Between Anderson, Wharton, and Baleba I thought Anderson performed the best against us.

Absolutely no way we would even come close to getting Tonali. He just recently signed a contract until 2030.

Newcastle are wanting to push forward in terms of challenging. Not push themselves further away from it.

Without being an expert on Spanish or Portuguese football, I am sure there are players there, as good as Wharton or Balena at half the price. Anderson looks a better player though

I am not sure about Wharton.

That every other scout has missed? Yes, there are players there of equal talent, but unless you get a good deal, which is hard to do at a high profile club, they'll cost a lot. Palhina, iirc how much he cost spurs, but he was an obvious PL quality DM. Can be had, but there aren't hundreds, or even dozens, more like a dozen below the radar types and then the ones everyone knows.

Anderson is worth the money, though, and is as good as everyone says. Something like a Gerrard/Keane hybrid in potential and not in his prime, which is three years away, or so, he's showing it. Passes every stat test and the eye test, also.

A classic United player. Or least, would have been in the past.

"Dogshit"? Really?

They were finishing top 4 MOST years, with occasional 6th or 7th and the only 8th in 2011-2012. Not to mention that they came close to winning the league in that time AND actually won Champions League in 2005. They never fell as low as we did last year.

As to motivations of players joining us, I think them believing in us having a "project" is the least of it. So far the players that are coming to us are either
1. Childhood fans of United who have a dream to be part of our revival, despite all factual evidence against it
2. Skyrocketing their compensation compared to what they were making before
3. Coming to us because we were still the biggest club going for them, or the only club from EPL going for them. Some of these also hoped to get more game-time with us than with other options. Kinda worked-out for Yoro, not so much for Heaven.

Regarding Elliot Anderson... He looks great and we should sign him if we can get him for reasonable price ($50-$60M). Anything more than that is a huge gamble. He is playing very well, but so was Baleba. Anderson has not, yet, shown multi-season high performances to demand fees like 70, 80, 90+ million quids.

Let's hope they hurry up with that transfer ban

City have not got a great record of signing English players. For England's sake I hope he doesn't go there, for our sake I hope he comes to us.

I’m not sure that is true, and definitley not to the extent that Anderson have this year. I would also argue Anderson was significantly better last season than Baleba. So Anderson is actually in his second good season.

In my opinion he is well worth a £80-100 mill fee.

He's a really good player and no doubt will contribute at an elite/ near elite level. However, I find it so weird watching a player like this without that extra indescribable quality. It's like, his technique is good and he's clearly proficient but it doesn't look effortless. Like he's lacking that x factor.

Some of the most important qualities for a CM are all just mental. Vision, confidence, awareness, positioning, consistency, decision making.... His is really good for all of it.

Kinda looks more like hussle than grace.

Anderson as a no8 and Baleba as a no6 would be great. But probably too expensive. Will be interesting to see what we do.

Chelsea have shown the way with their purchases of Enzo and Caicedo. Spending massively on the pair but it's been worth it.

It’s been posted already but gonna post it again

We can’t miss out on him.
