Email Notifications

My mailbox was clogged up with hundreds and hundreds of Email notifications.
Since then I've switched off all alerts, as far as I am aware in my preferences, but I am still getting email alerts come through.
How can I stop these altogether?

I'm having this issue as well. Tried switching things around in preferences, and it worked, for the most part, but I keep getting email notifications about the random chat thread, the palindrome thread, the protein powder thread, and a few others.
