Seems to be linked with Arsenal after once again being a top player in the championship and Norwich's best player last season.

Quality player that will do well at Arsenal if it happens but surprised a better club hasnt come in for him in the past year. He does play narrow when picked on the right so maybe some teams want width instead, but he's very good in central areas

I believe Buendía would be a perfect fit for Arsenal.

As you say he plays off the right wing, and often drifts in centrally.

Last year when Norwich was relegated, created 83 chances (4th overall in the league) 83 key passes (5th overall), 7 assists Also contributed defensively, 82 tackles (6th highest among midfielders in the PL) THis year he's created the most chances from open play in the Championship. 6 goals, 6 assists, winning more than half his tackles, and contributing in pressing.

Buuuut does Arsenal have money to buy any players this window?

That Bank of England CCFF loan Arsenal took up for £120m to ease cash flow, as they could face reported losses at upto £158m, would indicate otherwise.
The loan is meant to replace lost revenue, but can be used for existing transfer commitments like Pepe payments. There is no wording in the CCFF that specifically prevents them from using money for transfers. It'd be a bad look though.

For the Partey transfer, Kroenkes contributed money directly to make that transfer happen. I guess that could happen again, but they've always said the wanted the club to be self-sustaining.

Scored 1 in 36 games apparently, that doesn't exactly scream top talent to me.

 Okay. So we're just going to ignore the stats above like him creating the 4th most chances in the league whilst playing for by far the worst side?

Anybody who watched him last year could see he passes the eye-test as a creative influence, the type of stats provided back it up. 7 assists which I see you both chose to ignore as well, in a team that only scored 26 goals in total (probably would have been double-figures if the finishing was better).

Also he's a very unselfish player from what I've seen, probably could have scored a couple of more I'd imagine (i.e. his square pass to Pukki when they beat City).

He had joint 4th most key passes per game with Alexander Arnold and Bruno Fernandes (3.2 per game), behind only De Bruyne, Maddison and Grealish despite being in a relagated team. He's the creator rather than the one finishing off chances most of the time. He has scored 7 goals in the championship so far this season though

I'm not sure the Arsenal move will materialise to be honest, seems like Farke is adamant he'll be staying and as you mentioned, not sure Arsenal can part with the cash. Plus the emergence of Smith-Rowe will have staved off the need for a creative influence quite so much.

I'm very surprised Norwich managed to keep hold of him after they got relegated though. Seemed like he went weirdly under the radar despite the obvious talent. I don't know if Arsenal will maybe be a step-up too far but I think there's definitely a chance he could do reasonably well there, certainly his talent belongs at an established PL club at least.

He's very talented and he'll definitely end up at a bigger club (no offense to Norwich), but I doubt he'll be moving this January. They have him contracted until '24 and while Norwich are doing well atm, I can't see them risking promotion by selling him.

Smith-Rowe has played 5 games and is one of only 2 Arsenal players to have more assists than their right back who has 2. Sure he helps but he cant be the only one

Willian 3 assists... For Arsenal?!

Saka has played well but 1 assist...

Auba 1, Lacazette 1... Arsenal actually have one of the better defensive records in the league, but going forward they havent scored enough goals

Can they afford Buendia? No idea. After parting with all that cash for Partey and Gabriel I wouldnt think so but no doubt about it, he'd be transformative for them going forward and putting Lacazette or Auba through on goal and those kinds of players will score twice as much as they've scored so far this season.

He did OK for me on football manager, but he wasn't explosive enough so I free transferred him and then free transferred in Neymar instead from PSG (a massive in-game editor transfer move, el divio even took a huge pay cut).

From what I've seen of him in real life, and in my own world of managing massive teams, he's certainly average enough to play for Arsenal.

I’m not ignoring anything. I could just as easily say that the posters above have ‘ignored’ the fact that he scored no goals, due to them not mentioning it.

For a forward thinking player, it is a pertinent stat, and one that had thus far been omitted from the conversation so I introduced it.

There's no way we can afford the £35M+ Norwich would demand for him this window, unless we sell a player or throw a player in the mix.

Might revisit it in the summer. I like him, reminds me a little of Santi Cazorla in style & stature. What's underrated as well is his defensive stats from the attacking position, he likes to get stuck in as well.

We're now trying for a loan for Odegaard it seems.

It's obviously not a great statistic, but I think the context of the team he was playing for has and the role that he fills within it has to be taken into consideration . Norwich struggled a lot last season, and though they played pretty good football for a team rooted to the bottom they did end up sacrificing some of their attacking freedom in a vain effort to stem the amount of goals they were conceding. Buendia was the main creative outlet of the team, and would often be picking up the ball deep tasked with creating something out of nothing, his role in the team wasn't about getting on the end of a pass, he was generally the one supplying the pass. He was also tasked with a lot of defensive duties and never had much opportunity in terms of chances in the box, all of this imo means that his goal return last season isn't a true reflection of his ability in terms of goalscoring.

He's obviously not at the level of Cazorla, but that's who he reminds me of. He's very creative with his passing, and he's also very good at carrying the ball. This means that he can often beat a player or two in order to get himself in a better position in which to play the pass. Like Cazorla he's also good with both feet (not quite as two footed as Santi) and I've seen him play brilliant passes with either the left or the right. He often pops up all over the place as well looking for space and is confident taking the ball even when he's got oppos around him.

Would take him here, different option from the RW, infact would be our only real option for that position, without playing people out of position, but he is an excellent footballer, seems to create chances as good as anyone, if its a choice between him, James, Lingard or Mata, i am taking him all day long.

Called up to the Argentina national team today.
Deservedly so.

I'll be gutted when he's ultimately bought by one of our rivals.

Brilliant for him, he's been very consistant last few seasons.

Love stuff like Argentina calling up a Norwich city player. Had a chuckle looking at their squad list and seeing their name next to likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and errr Aston Villa.

He's too good for Arsenal. Don't think he's much if at all inferior to Grealish.
I think Grealish is much better but I think JG is one of the best players in the league.

I'd put Buendia at a similar level to Pereira at West Brom. A quality player that is far too good for the likes of Norwich/West Brom.

Grealish is more proven obviously but I think Buendia can reach those levels. Tough one because i'm sure Norwich would like to keep him one more season but i'd selfishly like to see him go straight to another side with better players rather than trying to pull rabbits in a struggling side for another season at this level.

Been very impressed with him since his PL season two years ago. Would love him here on the right wing, he’d create so much for our forwards. Top class player who I was surprised stayed with Norwich when they got relegated.

Because Arsenal are fecking wank I presume ?
He's a player that plays in the Championship that when his team played in the EPL last time round were rock bottom of the league 13 points behind Watford of all teams.

Don't get me wrong, I think hes a great wee player & I think he'd be ideal for Arsenal, but let's get a bit of perspective. Arsenal haven't been great this season by any means & need to improve a lot next season, but it's a team that still won a trophy last season & made a European semi final this season.

The main improvement we need to make is creativity especially at home & he is one of the most creative players in the country so you would imagine if he had anything about him he'd back himself to make a big difference in our team more than most others. There's a big Odegaard shaped hole he'd fit right in.

Should've got him in last season when they went down, would likely have got him for half of whatever hed cost now.

Yeah, I remember the stats had him as 1 of the most creative players in the league last season and that was with a team anchored at the bottom of the league. When you think our season never really got going until ESR & latterly Odegaard came in, you can imagine that Buendia would have made a big impact.

Watching the game
Buendia is by far the better player IMO. Norwich have got to hold onto him if they are to have any chance of staying up but think Leeds, Arsenal and others are all very interested.

I watch a lot of Norwich and he’s by far their best player. They have some other decent players, such as Aarons, and Skipp was great on loan from Spurs. Buendía is streets ahead.

He has created 331 chances the last 3 seasons. To put that into perspective he was the only Championship player that created over a 100 this season.

I hope he stays, they were probably promoted a bit too early into the Farke/Webber project last time around, but they seem to have found another level and hopefully Delia puts some money into their squad after promotion this time.

Been banging on about him as a backup/understudy to Bruno/Pogba when they're rested/rotated or injured. He will go to Leicester or Villa and everyone will be like - oh we should have signed him etc.

Looked a decent player last time he was in the league without getting spectacular numbers.

A bit premature to suggest he is better than or equal to Grealish or such players, though. He needs a good season in the PL. Arsenal would be a fantastic move for him.
