Oh well why not. I detest his theatrics but he is better than Dave.

Little tip for people, when the tweet throws United’s name into a list of 3+ clubs, it’s not genuine interest

Many people would be surprised here if they watched an Interview of Martinez. It's interesting how many people think he's an idiot because he plays mindgames at pks and has a couple gestures after probably the biggest moments in his life.

I don't think he has ever has been involved in any scandal or anything.

I think he is a positive leader, as a keeper he's decent. At least he dominates the air, that alone is a massive upgrade.

He's pushing for a move now because he knows the impending rule introduction that restricts shithousery will expose him as not as good a keeper as people think.

His antics might work at Villa but they'd be amplified at Utd and he'd be mocked every time we concede. Also I just don't think he's that good.

Yeah, they make out like we're going to sign a dozen players this summer! I know they're only rumours but some of them are stinky as feck

No, he isn't that good with his feet. Raya would be a better option.

He'd be my choice, a very safe pair of hands (no pun intended). Good with his feet and the sort of character who can organise (and boss) his defence and actually dominates his area: things DDG has proved incapable of.

Yes, he's a cnut, but he'd be our cnut. It's called character and of course has PL experience.

When I suggested Ramsdale a few years back, some here laughed: well, if we had him we'd be top four already. He's not world-class, but easily the next level down. I'd say the same about Martinez

Don’t like his character, his head is so far up his arse these days that I think he would be disruptive.

Thinks he’s a big time Charlie since the World Cup.

He isnt great, but he does have a lot of bravery, that last freekick he collected kills the last chance, that is the kinda chance where we lose games (like against Everton a couple of seasons ago)

He's the type of goalkeeper you want, personality wise but I think overall he's just an above average goalkeeper

Cannot argue against that. I guess you also agree that Martial and Weghorst are better than Ivan Toney.
Martial has been injured most of the year. Weghorst is a loan. So, a pretty limited analogy. If Martinez was top 4 caliber, he would still be at Arsenal.

Not in keeping clean sheets.
From all possible arguments, I think that is the worst one. Clean sheets are something that the entire team achieves, not the superhero keeper. I some of De Gea's best seasons, he didn't win golden glove for example, cause he had meh defenders ahead of him.

Be that as it may, you haven't made any convincing arguments as to why Martinez would be head and shoulders better than De Gea. Did his falic hand celebration impress you that much ?

Yeah it’s a team effort but ultimately the GK defends the goal and getting 16 clean sheets in the season is impressive. Especially as we have been up and down with our defence and on the end of some big defeats.

Dude, VDS was playing for Fulham at 34. I guess you would have argued back then that he is not top 4 material, right?

We can argue if he is good for top 4 (I think he absolutely is), but just cause he is in a team in the seventh place, that by itself doesn't mean much.

We're not talking about VDS here. But since you brought it up, he was already a successful keeper at a top club before Fulham.

He is far better in the air, one of the best in the world. He has a commanding presence and leadership abilities that make the defenders more comfortable playing with him. He is an annoying twat which makes the opposition loses their nerve. He is at least as a good shot-stopper as De Gea if not better (of course, peak De Gea was a far better shot-stopper). He is a better sweeper than De Gea. He passes the ball better than De Gea. He is better at penalties than De Gea.
