I fully expect the big clubs to show their cards soon and make a move, but for the time being, I’m only seeing the likes of Fenerbahce, Roma and Fiorentina linked. I can’t imagine there is any chance he ends up at those clubs. Hopefully we get involved, he’s every bit the maverick player that we have built our history upon.

He'd nicely round off our attacking options. With Vini looking to stay, it's more likely he leaves for game time. Assuming we can sell Rashford (who could go to Arsenal if they don't get Vini) and Zirkzee, we're left with:

Sounds like he wants to stay at Madrid this season and give it a lash there. Probably one to revisit in January or next summer. We don't really need him all that much as things stand but he could eventually develop into our best attacker over the next few years so definitely one to keep a close eye on for the recruitment team

I really don't see why they'd be loaning him to the Premier League without the idea being to sell him.

They'll only loan him to a club where he plays all the time. Then they wouldn't want him to join United as he'd probably want to stay, as he has expressed admiration for United previously. Only way United are going to get him is to slap down 50 plus million for him, he's very likely going to be worth the investment, but do not appear to have an interest in him at this moment in time.
