Why does he continually pick Barkley? He is dogshit and can only perform when the pressure is off.

Also CHO frankly doesn't deserve the call either. He has been very poor in the last couple of games.

Predictable squad really.

Some lucky lucky players in this squad:
Stones
Rose
Delph
Hudson-Odoi
Winks

Not sure if Tomori/Mings deserve a place either.

Not much to shout about

He's going to get us absolutely hammered at the Euros.

A bit like Ole with Lingard, et al.

Honestly fail to see how any of those three keepers are ahead of Dean Henderson

Gomez playing whilst stinking up the gaff at Liverpool
Pope called up even though he's conceded more goals in the last 3 games then Henderson has all season
Henderson statistically the best keeper in the league not called up
Trippier called up whilst being shite for Atletico in the past month

He's been pretty crap for Sheffield United this season, hasn't he?
Solid defense in front of him but great figures so far

Dean Henderson this season :
Clean Sheets: 5 (1st)
Goals conceded: 8 (1st)
Save %: 78% (1st)
Saves: 30 (3rd)
High claims: 7 (1st)
Punches: 7 (1st)
Saves from inside box: 17 (3rd)

"Deserve" has nothing to do with it. Southgate is picking a squad with an eye on the euros and the world cup and beyond.
If he was doing that he would be picking Aaron Ramsdale and binning Pope who is painfully average.

Sarcasm?

Henderson and Ederson have the joint most clean sheets this season (5)

and Sheffield United have conceded only 8 goals so far (joint-least conceded in the league this season, along with Leicester).

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
Has more clean sheets than Kepa and De Gea put together.

How's he shite again?
I didn't say he was shite, did I? I asked if he's been pretty crap this season.

If I'm wrong then fair enough, no need to put words in my mouth.

I'm sure I've seen a few blunders from him this season, guess I'm thinking of someone else. Whoops!

You were probably watching when he put Wijnaldum’s shot in to his own net :D

Where is lingard?
It looks like they’re going for an experienced squad and young Lingard is unlucky to miss out. He’s got years ahead of him so no point in rushing him. Worst thing England could do is a repeat of 2006 when they brought Theo Walcott to the World Cup and this is the exact same situation.

I wish! Or else he'd have Maddison starting so that he's settled by the time the next phase of the Euros start, he'd be introducing Grealish by now, Delph wouldn't be there, Henderson would be making the squad, etc

Even though the age jokes are played out, I liked this one

Apologies if I came off as passive-aggressive. The used qualification term was 'crap' I believe.

Sure, Hendo has had a few howlers but every keeper has at least one in him but he's largely had a stellar season so far.

You thought he was poor when he came on against Ajax? Thought he looked really dangerous and created a couple of chances for Tammy. His crossfield switches are fantastic too.

Because he's been one of England's best players recently.

His international career is effectively ended by virtue of being the 10th best English player in his respective positions.
Hard to argue with that, although on recent form you might be being generous with 10th.

I do genuinely think he's the best prospect England have in that position (based on last season and also what I've seen in interviews, I like my goalies to be a bit cocky).

If he's having a great season (which it seems he is!) then that's awesome. I'm an England fan about as much as I am a Chelsea fan.

he did concede a weak goal to Georginio Wijnaldum's straight shot that slipped through his hands and go in between his legs apart from that been great.

I asked if he had been a bit crap this season. I didn't call him crap! There's enough of a difference in my mind! It's not the Crap/Shite comparison I object to.

De Gea for example had a crap spell last season but he's still the best goalie in the league.

No Wan Bissaka or Jack Grealish?

Two of the best performing players in the league!

Looking dangerous and being dangerous are two entirely different things. He was sprinting at the defense but didn't open them up or get a shot on target. I still think we should continue playing him because he is obviously quality but I'm not going to pretend that he's been playing well when he hasn't.
Because he's been one of England's best players recently
Looks good against shit opposition. Play him against the big boys and you'll see the real Ross.

CHO is the only one out of place in that list imo. Stones and Rose are there because their alternatives aren't really pushing them (Jones, Keane Tarkowski, Shaw).

Winks is also pretty much he only DLP we have in midfield and it played much better with him in, Carrick was in generation of players too early

Why doesn’t Kyle Walker play for England anymore ? Must be Pep’s instructions or something.

Southgate knows what he offers and has decided not to call him up whilst he looks at other options, Walker will go to the Euros with TAA

I'd like to see something like

Henderson
TAA Tomori Maguire Chilwell
Henderson Winks
Sancho Maddison Sterling
Kane
but I expect we'll see

Pickford
Trippier Stones Maguire Rose
Henderson Rice
Sancho Barkley Sterling
Kane

England play with offensive wing backs and rely on them to put crosses in, Wan doesn't really fit their system.

I'm glad he's not been picked, he's an important player for us and knowing our luck he'd get injured.

Grealish should absolutely be in, as should Henderson or Ramsdale over one of the keepers.
