Infantino fecked up beyond belief. He’s set a precedent now and will have to live with it
Yeah he can't just bend it for the host nation and not others.

Why not? Who's stopping him?Yeah he can't just bend it for the host nation and not others.
Haaland will score against England but the English have more than enough to beat them an make the SFs against an Arg/Colombia.
England honestly have one foot in the final
Pandora's box well and truly opened now.
Oh yeah? Well Ingurland have JudeHarry KanlinghamNorway and Argentina are 1 man teams, however those particular men are Messi and Haaland![]()
Eh. Not sure he's ever played that for us. Always with at least 2 midfielders behind himBellingham plays 8 for Madrid and does it very well. He's absolutely fine at tracking in midfield.
So do weTrue, he can do it, but we need him further forwards. Madrid can get by because they have multiple attackers who can produce magic. We need him alongside Kane.
I don’t really understand Southgates post England career decisions. Not that I’m saying I think he necessarily needs to be a pundit on television. But I am surprised he has taken such a long break from the game.Worth noting that Sir Gareth Southgate turned down countless media offers to be a pundit during the World Cup so as not to cause a distraction to the England squad and to tacitly support Thomas Tuchel.
If only some others could take note of that example.
I think theres probably a bit more to it than just 3 weeks every 2 years, given the endless cycle of qualifiers, Nations League and friendlies and preparation needed for the tournament itself. Plus dealing with the clubs is probably a job in itself. I reckon its just sheer mental burnout on his part. Plus him being England manager is probably the pinnacle of the profession in his eyes and he doesnt feel like he doesnt have the motivation anymore. I don’t think he is getting a top job, equally I don’t think he is ego will allow him to work at what he may consider considered to be a lesser club.
Needing a break from football after being an international manager doesn’t really make sense as being an international manager inherently involves so many breaks by itself. I’m sure the intensity of a tournament is very stressful, but they happen once every two years.
If effectively three weeks work every 24 months requires him to have a multi year break from the game, then watch chairman in their right mind is ever going to appoint him to manage a team during a gruelling domestic season?
I think he probably regrets not stepping straight back into football during a period of time when he stock was sufficiently high enough that he could have got a very decent job at club level. Now he’s kind of painted himself into the corner of being someone almost definitely consigned to fairly minor consultancy roles previously given to the likes of Trevor Brooking at the football Association
You don't have Kane!So do we
The weight of the England job and the mental pressure of it is one of the biggest in world football really. It's not surprising after c. 8 years of that he wanted to have a break or just not want to continue managing anymore.I don’t really understand Southgates post England career decisions. I’m not sure I buy lack of motivation. I think this long career break is as much to do with the fact it became quite clear that wasn’t going to be getting the calibre of offers that he presumed he may.I think theres probably a bit more to it than just 3 weeks every 2 years, given the endless cycle of qualifiers, Nations League and friendlies and preparation needed for the tournament itself. FFS John Stones don't make me like you.
Not really confident, but i believe we have a decent chance. And more importantly, i believe the more (over)confident the english are, the better our chances are.How do you think Norway might win the game tactically, besides your phenomenal freak of nature striker scoring yet again?
…I’ve think I might have answered my own question there but I’m curious what the Norwegian perspective is and how confident you are.
So you think the England players are not taking Norway seriously and are "overconfident"? What are you basing that on?Not really confident, but i believe we have a decent chance. And more importantly, i believe the more (over)confident the english are, the better our chances are.
I think you will definately be harder to beat than Brazil, mainly because Brazils defensive pressure was non-existent.
Curious to see the tactical set up of the two teams, as Norway has varied that a bit in the games so far.
You do realise the only ones in here who are talking like making the final is a formality for England are not England fans?Literally «breaking news»….
As a norwegian, i’m quite comfortable with how confident you all are on Englands behalf.
Is this true? Really classy move if so. Always seemed like a good blokeWorth noting that Sir Gareth Southgate turned down countless media offers to be a pundit during the World Cup so as not to cause a distraction to the England squad and to tacitly support Thomas Tuchel.

Was supposed to be reply to these:Honestly haven’t been in the bio of every poster. However it reads for several they are rooting for England, being english or not.
But feel free to attribute it to my hope of overconfidence more than anything else.

Fair enough. I just wondered if there had been some comment from a player or something that spoke to being over confident. Was supposed to be reply to these:
Crossing my fingers for a fair and entertaining game, with no ref/var controversies.Fair enough. I just wondered if there had been some comment from a player or something that spoke to being over confident.
I think everyone on both sides knows this is one hell of a tough game. After all the nonsense gone on in recent games, I hope Norway and England can have a cracker of a game in the right spirit.
Most are just trolling so that when we do eventually get eliminated, they can have a laugh.Honestly haven’t been in the bio of every poster. However it reads for several they are rooting for England, being english or not.

More than half the Brazil starting XI from their last match played in the Premier League last season. They're definitely a known entity.I think that familiarity probably means that England would rather have faced Norway than Brazil and probably Norway would’ve preferred to face England rather than Mexico.
It has nothing to do necessarily with the quality of either side, but it just makes things a lot easier to prepare when you have more of an understanding of the opposition

I was thinking of Euro 2024
I have to apologize to Gordon a bit. For sure did not see him as a starter for England. But games like that us where he is needed and his work rate is immense and he has quality at times. Great performance last night.Loved that performance. Bellingham and Gordon thrive in those kind of intense matches where you need runners who fight for every ball. You'd imagine that result will generate huge belief amongst the squad considering the obstacles they had to overcome.
I think Sir Gareth went on record as saying that he didn´t want another job in football club management. It seemed like he had simply had enough of the 24/7 bubble footballers and managers live in.I don’t really understand Southgates post England career decisions. Not that I’m saying I think he necessarily needs to be a pundit on television. But I am surprised he has taken such a long break from the game.

And Real Madrid signed Gordon, where City got Anderson for stupid money and look what's he's been doing for England since.I have to apologize to Gordon a bit. For sure did not see him as a starter for England. But games like that us where he is needed and his work rate is immense and he has quality at times. Great performance last night.
Sorry when Did it happen he actually said he isn't interested in managing in PL unless it's at One of the top Clubs offcourse he is out of the job .I think Sir Gareth went on record as saying that he didn´t want another job in football club management. It seemed like he had simply had enough of the 24/7 bubble footballers and managers live in.
From what I can gather he is just focused on family life and has compartmentalized his time in football and moved on from it.
It´s refreshing to see someone who could easily talk for days about England simply keep his counsel and allow the team to flourish. That is the way it should be.
Damn if that's true that's class.Worth noting that Sir Gareth Southgate turned down countless media offers to be a pundit during the World Cup so as not to cause a distraction to the England squad and to tacitly support Thomas Tuchel.
