Who knows. Brazil were properly shit so I think England would have beaten them too.
Kane was garbage by the way. Slow, clumsy and his incessant attempts to gain free kicks and complaining are getting right on my fecking nerves.
Think England would have smashed Brazil honestly.
I tend to agree but it’s more the occasion, the emotion and the accumulation of fatigue that will be the issue with Argentina, less so the quality. The atmosphere will be super charged.
I still think France or Spain will win the tournament regardless.

It's probably harsh because he's scored loads for England but his general performances at tournaments for England are never particularly very good.
He always fades badly as it goes on.
Agreed entirely here, we'll be comfortable favourites over Switzerland, and in my lifetimes, forget this generation, Iceland aside.... that's more or less never been the issue, sure we've continually made it look brutally hard, but they pretty much always get over the line in those games in the knockouts (ignore dodgy group games). I think you can go back before my lifetime too... it's always bigger nations or 50/50 games we stumble.
But we made Odegaard look closer to his peak than he had any right to today... so I'm assuming Enzo and Macallister will probably dictate the game more ... therefore it's a case of Jude and Kane outperforming Messi and whoever he's with, because both defensives are a bit suspect to say the least. But I'm hardly scared of Argentina.... I'm thankful to avoid one of Spain or France instead of having to go through both, one off, in a final? Who knows, maybe it's our time, even as the clear underdog to either. It's like the Tennis big 4 and the other 3 hoping to get Murray in the semi's or some shit.
On the bright side, England advanced without any meaningful contribution from Kane tonight. That will have to change if they go any further.
If they win comfortably tonight I'd have them as slight favourites against England. If they go to extra time again then I fancy England to do it.

Yeh despite Haaland being a complete non entity all game England look very vulnerable at the back.
Based on that performance in that heat I think Brazil would have won …but doesn’t matter now.
Bench Kane, bolster the midfield and just let Jude takeover!
I think the only issues we'd have had with Brazil is the fact it's the name Brazil and we've historically really struggled against them, and they'd have probably dealt with the heat better.
Other than that I think England are just a better side than Brazil and I think we'd have beaten them. Probably in a better style than tonight vs Norway.
They’d be some real Simeone style s**thousery from them, and if FIFA throw in another dodgy ref to officiate it, then it could be a massive disadvantage for us. I hope I’m wrong.
We better hope Switzerland best Argentina. England has never beaten a team in the knockout stages who were considered equal or better than them.

Agree England are a better side than Brazil, just think Brazil would have had an edge in that heat.

Brazil kind of reminds me of the Liverpool of international football. Massively Respected by the media for their past but quite often fail to get past the second round in latter tournaments.
France licking their lips. A cake walk to the trophy after witnessing England, Argentina and Spain performances.
Not if they played Casemiro. Him, and most of the team, to be fair, looked so slow in the majority of their games.
Not entirely certain, but this latest news about an FBI investigation into laundering of WC winning funds doesn’t look great for the Argentinian FA.
They’ve been the most convincing side by far.

This is a very beatable Argentina side, I expect the Swiss to push them just as everyone else has in the knockouts

That's a result of 120mins of football in 40+° heat and humidity. Next game will be air conditioned and I imagine we'll look much more energetic.
They have, but Messi. Even at his twilight I can't see our defenders being switched on enough.
I think Tuchel is just mad enough to pull this off.
