I get O Reilly and Lewis-Skelly both offer the flexibility to play at LB and in midfield, however why didn't he just take one of them and proper LB in Hall too
England teams?? He really wouldn’t. He isn’t in the same class as Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell etc…
He has been very fortunate to play a prominent role in so many tournaments. A good player without ever really being great.
Too much bias around him here. Him being left out of an England squad at 33 is not a big deal.
Why are people bang on that Saka will be guaranteed to start on that right wing? Having watch Arsenal, he has been dogshit all season. So if Cole Palmer can be left out, why not him?

Yeah Anfield is a prime example of a late winner, just can't get my head around Gibbs-White who has 24 goal involvement this season not being included. I think Palmer is out of form, however you saw against Spain what he can do off the bench. I like Gordon but don't get the feeling he could produce that bit of magic when it's needed. When you need someone to head the ball in the net in the 90th minute or do last ditch defending who you gonna call, it has to be Maguire. Can’t believe he hasn’t been included.
There is this and also Tuchel's previous comments during international camps. Personally, I wouldn't have taken them but it's been clear for some time that Henderson and Burn for example were likely to make the squad due to non-playing reasons. It was a reason for some of Southgate's picks in the past too...remember Coady made the Euro 2021 squad for example. If you guys actually watch England under Tuchel and how they play, Maguire simply couldn't go cos he doesnt fit the playing style. Harry is one of the reasons we at United play deep too because he cant handle the big spaces in behind.
Shaw is just “meh” player these days far from his Shawberto days from Euro 2020/2021. He barely attacks or does anything positive going forward.
Yeah definitely lacks magicHow is Henderson still getting in?
Looking at the supposed squad, feels like our little era of hope is over officially. It’s just not very special. But the selections don’t help that, it’s a squad lacking in magic for me.
I get Tuchel wants players he can trust and do the job of his system, but when you see utter dross like Madueke get selected it’s just like….really? That’s who we’re hoping can help win us the World Cup?
Non-playing reasons? Just recall Stuart Pearce and Robbo then. There is this and also Tuchel's previous comments during international camps. Even in the teams that make the final, there will be players that get next to no minutes and are picked based on squad dynamics, particularly in these 26 man squads.Non-playing reasons? Just recall Stuart Pearce and Robbo then.
Neymar and Henderson lining up on opposing benches thenEven in the teams that make the final, there will be players that get next to no minutes and are picked based on squad dynamics, particularly in these 26 man squads.
Funnily enough if England play Brazil you'll have Henderson and Fabinho on the bench for each team, running it back to a 2019 era reunionNeymar and Henderson lining up on opposing benches then
No player should be making any squad for ‘non playing reasons’. Subs will be needed throughout the tournament due to the conditions, all of the squad need to be ready to step in.There is this and also Tuchel's previous comments during international camps. I understand it from a point of view of covering both RB and LB. It wouldn't be as shocking if the other picks weren't weird too.DJed spence would be a shocking call.
Isn’t Livramento in to provide that cover? Assuming he’s fitI understand it from a point of view of covering both RB and LB. It wouldn't be as shocking if the other picks weren't weird too.
The same Spence who is a benchplayer for one of the worst teams in the PL?I understand it from a point of view of covering both RB and LB. It wouldn't be as shocking if the other picks weren't weird too.
Thought he wasn't in it, but if so then yeah, you're right.Isn’t Livramento in to provide that cover? Assuming he’s fit
He's played under Tuchel for England though and he rates him. Not saying I agree with the pick, but understand the logic from Tuchel view. The same Spence who is a benchplayer for one of the worst teams in the PL?
This obsession over covering players rather than picking players who are already available for those positions is very odd.I understand it from a point of view of covering both RB and LB. It wouldn't be as shocking if the other picks weren't weird too.
Kind of agree but at the same time some of your best options in RB and LB positions are injury prone. This obsession over covering players rather than picking players who are already available for those positions is very odd.
That's good practice for what he'll be for England then.I mean Henderson hasn’t even been starting for Brentford recently. It’s just been a sub.
