The French outlet reports that talks are well underway between the Premier League side and the teenager’s entourage, with some sources telling the paper that an imminent outcome could soon be announced

I'm loving this, we need to scoop up the best young talent, either they make it here or we turn a profit on them. Either way, win-win. Chelsea and city have been doing this well for a decade now, about time we joined the party.

Is there going to be room for him in our setup next season? Chido fills the spot he’d potentially take unless this kid can play as a No.10 as well?

  • This season (2024–25), he’s made 15 appearances in the U19 league, with 1 goal and 2 assists. Also featured in the Coupe Gambardella

Hojlund replacement

Of course stats don't tell the full story but it's still pretty comical that we keep going for strikers without a goal scoring record

I'm enjoying how many young players we are snapping up and great to start using links to the other INEOS clubs.

Hopefully we continue pursuing the top young talents, especially from South America. Everyone gets a 50m price tag slapped on them the minute they play a half decent pass so we need to make sure we are on the ball from early with good talents.

I like this concept of using the INEOS clubs to aid the development of our players. Hopefully we do it a larger scale.

Really? I don't really have a good argument against "the Chelsea model", but I know I don't like it and I hope we don't try to copy them.

Edit* to add that I am not saying thats what we are doing here, with this one specific signing. I just hope that we don't eventually get to the point where we are hoarding signings and have a loan army spread across the globe, like Chelsea. Thats obnoxious.

It's a good model if done to a lesser, more efficient extent. Target young exciting prospects around the world and have a network of clubs they can go on loan too.

This is not really the Chelsea model though. This is closer to the City or Red Bull model. The focus is on development of the player to create a pipeline of developed players for the first team (of the flagship club).

Exactly, Chelsea model is more about profiting and doesn't care about the human element of the players themselves.

I give it til October before half our fanbase is calling him a flop and demanding he be sold.

I saw his dad play in a non-league match a couple of decades ago. Saw his potential back then.

So I have been tracking Enzo since his birth.

Is he the son of Andre who represented Cameroon in the 1990 and 1994 world cup ? He also used to play for Le Havre, near the end of his career

Reminds me of a young Danny Welbeck. Rangey but with good control and dribbling.

Finally. I’ve been following this player for the last 3 minutes

I'd say the element of the Chelsea model this is closest to is that we are probably trying to hoover up young talent to sell at a margin for easy PSR benefits. I'd love if these guys we're buying all turned out to be actual hidden gems but I suspect our goal is more cynical and just to make a few 10mn sales here each season to top up the transfer budget and maybe the odd one will turn out to be very good and have a future at the club.
