Eredivisie 2024/25

So it doesn't even look like things are improving?

The main thing I remember from various articles in the Volkskrant is that he plays three at the back and does a huddle on the pitch after matches. But maybe I'm missing the deeper stuff...

Ajax might end up being your main competitor, but if you keep winning like this, their early points dropped will be difficult to get over.

That sounds pretty obvious, reading it back.
Ajax are also still a bit cack. No one can challenge psv this year even if they're a bit weaker than last year.

Re Priske, he tried 3 at the back twice amd revertex to 4-3-3. Main problem is we lost Geertruida and Wieffer and have only dross or youngsters to replace him. If we don't improve soon we'll struggle to make top 4.

Good win for Feyenoord at a tough away ground. Corner turned?

I had thought AZ would be a strong opponent for PSV, but from what I'm reading, they never stood a chance after that early red. I like PSV, but this looks like another boring season in terms of the title. (Although it makes me laugh thinking of all the people that think Ajax has Bayern levels of dominance in the Eredivisie.)

Funnily, it's actually Utrecht that's closest now: if they win their two games in hand (at least tomorrow's looks very doable on paper), they're only 2 points behind. I don't think anyone expects them to keep that up across a season though. Either way, Ron Jans has really shown himself to be an excellent coach at the Eredivisie subtop level.

Wow, we were fantastic today. What happened

Benfica Utrecht and Ajax are next.

I'm not even sure which one is hardest among those. Also depends on which Ajax team shows up I suppose!

Edit: Well, I guess Benfica is pretty obviously the strongest team in the list.

1. Benfica
2. Utrecht
3. Ajax

We mostly have problems against tough defensive opponents. Ajax are terrible defensively so we should comfortably beat them. Utrecht is having a good season and could be a bogey and Benfica is going to obliterate us.

They beat Atletico 4-1 in Madrid didnt they?

In other news, Van Persie will be sacked before the holidays.

Just before the holidays? That's cruel.

It's so weird to me that they would sign him, but I guess it's worth it! And Weghorst must be loving it, good for him.
Seemed like an obvious winner to me. Ajax lack fight and discipline (ok, they also lack defensive structure). Wout brings those in spades and can easily bully defenders in our league.

Yeah, and clearly he's high quality for the Eredivisie. He just seems like such an anti-Ajax player. But then so was Haller and that went well. And anyway, beggars can't be choosers.

Oh for sure, I can't imagine a player more antithetical to Ajax than Wout. He's more a Feyenoord type of guy.

He fell short a bit short for the premier league, but he's good enough for all the other likes I think. So definitely our little one.

If only we had found this form 2 weeks earlier. Might've actually had a title challenge then this year.

I wonder when the Feyenoord manager is going to consider putting Bijlow back in the team. Well that is put Bijlow back in the team until Bijlow goes out of the team with an injury again.

Hope it's soon. Wellenreuther has cost us quite a few points already.

Yeah, that's what the summary I read suggested. Ajax didn't have a 2-0 game, they got help from Wellenreuther. Is that accurate?

Apart from that, the Volkskrant was annoying as usual. The article was a poetic hommage to Ajax, and I learned almost nothing about the actual match or Feyenoord's performance in it. I don't get how Willem Vissers got a journalism award; you don't learn much about matches, teams, or football from his pieces. I'd think that's more important than writing style for a football journalist.

Ajax went up from 2 mistakes by Wellenreuther, but they defended very well from there on.

Have to hope for Utrecht for an upset now.

But seriously, I'd be surprised if it's really going to be tight between PSV and Ajax. Ajax might do well in the European Conference League though, if they can maintain their big-match form.

And these might be two terrible takes. Or even three.

Ajax are in Europa League! 7 from 3 so far..

@KirkDuyt the game is on for second place! Do you much will happen for Feyenoord squad wise in the winter period?

I think Ajax will get another winger for sure and will try to get rid of Tahirovic and Wijndal for sure and maybe Akpom (only if we get the winger) and maybe vd Boomen or loan out Hlynsson.

The Ajax performance was the best I've seen in years, probably all the way back to the penultimate EtH season (EtH last season was pretty dire as well, if I recall correctly). Ajax had it all yesterday, the fight, the bravoure to play out from the back, technique, pressing. What an amazone match. We were lucky that PSV missed some good players though

Why stop at 2nd place? You're only 2 points behind PSV now if you win your game in hand. If we manage to beat PSV as well, we might have an actual title race. Bit of a coming down for us though Wednesday. Even if I'm never confident against Ajax, I thought there's no way you'll beat us at home. I'm glad we managed to turn it around yesterday and beat AZ, but our level is just so inconsistent. From playing like a team possessed against Benifca and also handily beating 2nd place Utrecht at their stadium to whatever we did against Ajax and AZ. I'm not sure we have money to buy players in winter. We spend quite a bit over the last 2 years for our standards and quite some of it is a bit cack (like Zerrouki, Ivanusec and Ueda).

I'm actually going to the Arena for the Ajax Utrecht game, so hopefully with my fervent support Utrecht will trash you lot
