You can say he was at fault for both goals. Classic Bailly - some fantastic heroic last ditch stuff to save the team but that’s not what you want from a defender.

Brilliant tonight.

For all his erratic performances/moments he has never played as badly as Maguire has at points for us.

Very good tonight.

Hopefully he can go on his annual 4-6 game good run of form if Varane is out injured again.

Easily our best defender tonight. We should have played him more often when fit over the last year or two

If not for him and Ronaldo would have been another thrashing. Makes Ole’s decision not to play him against Leicester even more laughable.

10/10 performance. What a game by Bailly. He should replace Maguire in the starting line up no doubt.

The plaudits will go to Ronaldo, but Bailly was immense. His performance tonight has possibly delayed the inevitable.

Saved us as much as Ronaldo did. I’d like to see him in a partnership with Varane but hoping for them to both be free of injury for more than one match seems optimistic.

He'll never be a great defender with those amount of close calls but damn, when he's good, he's fecking good.

Baffling he's getting the plaudits he is. Overall, he has a decent game, but was constantly out of position and completely at fault for their second goal. There's a reason their CF chose to run off him all night. Did well to recover as often as he did, and saved a few arses in the process, but there was bags of errors in his game.

Absolutely ridiculous that he didn't play against Leicester when maguire could hardly move

He's good. Very good. He should be starting more often, maybe with him on the pitch we'd have avoided the Leicester defeat. Maguire needs to be benched.

Well played Eric, to get thrown in after hardly playing and then putting in a performance like that is quite the feat.

Got drawn out thinking he could get nip in ahead of Zapata for the first goal and the second one was awful no idea what he was thinking, a simple ball over the top and Zapata was through on goal.

Makes his open criticism to the manager for starting poorer players ahead of him all the more stronger

Unbelievable performance considering he hasn't played at all this season.

To come in against a top striker like Zapata and do that, very impressive indeed.

You do know who was playing Zapata on right?

The first one he's marking Zapata who delivers to an unmarked Ilicic who then shots directly to De Gea who somehow manages to concede.

The second one we got our defense playing for the offside and Maguire is the one that fecks up.

First goal was lucky break due to poor touch from Scott and second one you could see Bailly tried to play him offside but for Maguire. Maguire was slow as usual

He is pure entertainment. Pretty ropey at the basics, but excellent at the emphatic stuff.

Positioning? Shite. Heading? Sunday league. Interception by sliding on his arse with his feet in the air? The best. Roundhouse kick clearance in his own penalty area? World class.

Did a lot of really good things - genuinely brilliant things, actually - and a few really bad things. Had a part in both goals conceded but single-handedly saved a couple too.

Maybe the most Bailly game ever.
