Forward: Nunez 65m or Nkunku 65m
Forward: Antony 50m or Bergwijn 30m
Midfield: De Jong 65m
Midfield: Kamara free or Sangare 35m
CB: Inacio 35m or Ndicka 35m
LB: Sosa 25m
Agree a sensible list with realistic prices, I think the reality is the club are actually losing 4 Midfielders, Matic (CDM), Pogba (BTB), Mata (AM), Lingard (AM)
With only Fred, Mctominay, Bruno, DVB as senior pros, we need at least 2 Midfielders and probably 3 especially with Europa or Europa conference next season.

My picks Kamara, E Christensen (both Free) F De Jong or D Rice 70M or £100M or a cheeky bid to Chelsea for Ngolo Kante at 35M, he’s 30 will easily play for 5 more years because of his athletic frame. We need a world class no 6 and a decent back up, we also need another creative midfielder whose at an elite level and knows the PL.We can bring through James Garner then in Europe.

Sangare for 10 million would be a fecking steal. Frenkie for 35 is just being silly.

It's what players used to cost pre Neymar to psg. His been under a rock.
Not really and Neymar isn't the starting point of an inflation. For that kind of fee you have to be pre 2008-2009.

I'm beginning to think that The Sun has a few employees lurking in here posting this garbage.

£5M - CENTRE BACK = Goncalo Inacio
£35M - CENTRE MIDFIELDER = Frenkie De Jong
£10-15M - CENTRE MIDFIELDER = Ibrahim Sangare
£10-15M - VERSATILE ATTACKER = Christopher NKunku

Total spend: £60-70M. That leaves room for more strengthening, such as Rice (£50-60M) + AWB replacement.
 Is this 2006?

Just buy FM12 and get them all together for 50k, easy

I think the Ronaldo and Kaka window started the general increase to the top players/talents costing 100m (with players like Zidane and Figo making it a bit less shocking to break the limit occasionally), but Neymar and Mbappe being 220 and 180(?) seemingly made many good players cost 100m too. I wonder if the Dembele/Hazard/Coutinho/Griezmann transfers humbled things down a bit, though.

But you can't get a Maguire/Rice/Neves/Koulibaly for 30m anymore (bar a few personal/contractual exceptions), while they will not be your star attacker or midfielder, nor your marketable poster boys in another manner (like Van Dijk is for Liverpool).

The inflation in prices is linked to the inflation in TV and sponsorship deals, Football clubs make a lot more money today than they did 15-20 years ago. They actually mirror each others with total transfer spendings increasing after the signings of new deals. People make the basic mistake of looking at fees without looking at who the selling club is and what are their finances, a club that doesn't need to sell won't sell a player for a reasonable fee, they have no reason to do that.

That is true also, but bigger jumps did happen around those time. I guess it was all bound to happen eventually, though, but the way things did seems (to me) influenced by the limit breakers, rather than everything moving as 'gradually' as the overall market did.

Perhaps the shock about transfers is mostly based on these players' wages and their contracts costing so much, while forgetting that it's all marketing and marketability. Plus, even if all they're able to do is kick a ball in the right direction (you hope), it is these fellas making the market roll as it does, so it's not that weird that they make a lot of money. Bruce Willis made a lot of money too, because his face is the one that sells. I don't know what does screen writers and producers earned, but you don't put Mr. Woodward on the cover of FIFA 23. And then just like you said, why sell a marketable player if you'll have to replace that market value with a variable. The 100m does increase your chances of getting a new star, but 150m gives more breathing space when you lose that Messive income stream and need to find Neyw market value.

I'll just give you an example, why would you expect to get a Koulibaly for 30m€ in 2017 when Otamendi, Bailly, Mangala, Lindelof went for more prior to this transfer? Someone like Martial went for +50m€ after 6 months as a starter for Monaco, Andy Carroll went for +40m€ in 2011. People have largely been in denial of fees, it's not new and it wasn't a jump, it's also worth mentioning that Neymar's "fee" isn't related to the market, it's a buyout, it has no relation to his market value.
I will also point out that good to very good players are for the vast majority priced between 30m and 60m, they are not in the hundreds so it's an other fallacy that people use which is a strange one since every summer people call players going for normal fees, bargains.

Finally things aren't supposed to move gradually because deals increased violently and the following post shows why, I used the PL because it's the most obvious example of inflation in transfer fees:
The inflation in wages matches with the inflation in TV deals, especially in the PL. It went from 1bn in 2004 to 1.7bn in 2007 to 3bn in 2013 to 5bn in 2016 and current 4.5bn. There is nothing insane with the current wages inflation, there is simply significantly more money in Football between TV right and sponsoring deals that are multiple times higher than before. Surely you didn't expect wages to not increase dramatically when everyone is aware of every commercial and TV deals?

It honestly wouldnt suprise me if the club tries to bring them both in as frees. Eriksson would make sense due to his technical ability; fantastic passing, crossing, setpieces and corners. Also a good shot on him. However could you really play him in the same misfield three with either bruno or VDB? I doubt it.

How similar are bobucar kamara and autelien tchounami? If we have no real chance with the latter would the former be a good stand in?

Simple give ten people in Utd 4 names, 3 the same and the 4th one 10 different players and see which one ( or more) shows up in the paper sand there folks you have your mole(s) once and for all.

I bet it’ll be

Ricarlison/Antony/Nkunku (50 ish)
2 of Kamara/Sangare/De Jong etc (1 cheap 1 expensive)
1 of Inacio or Ndickia (up to 38.5 million or whatever his release is)
Timber and the LB who Lyon are also trying to sign. (25x2)

About 200 million and no Darwin. I think that obviously improves us (as it should) but Ronaldo hits the wall again next season, and he will, we are going to be relying on Sancho and our new players to bail us out. Hopefully it doesn’t get all toxic again. I would sign Belotti on a free as an insurance policy for the ST position as I don’t think any of the academy lads are good enough centrally

interesting I though Ngolo Kante was a good idea and it looks ETH thinks so too, trust me even at 30/31 you could play CE or DVB with Bruno In the 3, seems to me that we need 2/3 in midfield 2 in defence and 2 upfront so ETH saying 6/7 is pretty much in line what we all know, Add Amad Dialo, James Garner and maybe E Laird which would be 9/10 new players and ship out 12-14 we all know who they are!
Don’t be surprised if T Chong gets a chance too this season

First of all we need to sell players to open some space. Here is a realistic list:
£31,4m Andreas Pereira
£82,7m Fred
£62,3m Telles
£45,1m Dalot
£173m Paul Pogba

Who are the most linked besides De Jong and Timber?

They obviously make sense as players that he's worked with previously that know and fit his style, but I'm interested to see which players he targets that he doesn't know, but likes their abilities to work in his system.

Maybe you'd like to add Darwin Nuñez for 5M and Antony for 2M to that list.

Fred has been one of the most consistent performers. No way we should be selling him when Matic is already leaving.

This would probably be quite accurate if you removed everything before the decimal points:

4m Pereira
7m Fred
3m Telles
1m Dalot
0m Pogba

Nkunku has been mentioned a bit. I think he's an interesting option. People won't like it but i also think haller would be a good sub striker. More and more we see the importance of the right players for a managers system while more talented players fail in a set up that doesn't suit.

I don't think we'll get de Jong, but he, tchouameni and nkunku could transform our starting 11.

I worry about how few full backs are linked

A midfielder is crucial and I hope we get at least one sorted soon. Timber also looks like he is coming.

Any of the attackers mentioned as in Nunez, Anthony or Nkunku would be good. Not sure about Haller, maybe ETH could make him work in the PL. There seems to be plenty of attackers available but midfielders a different story.

Midfielder, attacker and right full back. If we only got those three and each one turned out to be a great fit then that's ok with me for this summer....coupled with a return to form for Rashford, Shaw and co.

I think he’d be very good. Tidy on the ball and left footed. CP could ask silly money for him now though. He’d be over 50 million.
He's right footed. Do agree he'd go for a silly number like 50 if he was left-footed, probably more like 40 in this reality, but I think Palace would want to make that sell in 2 years when he still has 2 years left. Also Chelsea might want him back with Christensen and Rudiger and Azpi all leaving

Oops! Nevermind. He's a good player, and I was surprised Chelsea let him go. Done very well at Swansea and I think is better than Chalobah. Was always highly rated at Chelsea as well.

I'd be over the moon if we can pull this off. I think de Jong and Timber are possible.

Tchouameni probably won't come, Pogba will talk him out of it and he has enough suitors.

We might also buy a backup striker instead of signing Nkuku this year.

He's coming into a new club, a new league, and a new country, he'd be signing dudes along the way, i just hope you and the board will be more forgiving when that happened. Even Pep got his first signings wrong.

Nkunku can play as a Striker though, his versatility would be huge for us if Ronaldo is staying as we aren't going to find a pure striker of a high enough quality who is happy to just play games here and there.

Has the value of football players cracked lately? These prices are VERY LOW compared with 2019-2021. We talk about a 30-40% price reduction.

Timber seems nailed on -- no pun intended. But unless plans are in being put together to ship out Maguire I'm not sure Timber would want to be a part of a rotation in a squad that's not even in the CL. But I have say he looks an incredible talent. His ability to get out of trouble and carry the ball is unbelievable for a defender of any age, but at his age he's ridiculous.
