So Eric has some extra days to train with the team last weekend and next weekend. Do you think this is an advantage right now so he has more time to get his ideas across or do games help more right now so the players get used to each other in games were it really matters?

Our schedule next weeks and months will be really full of games every three or four days so training between games will be difficult, maybe these extra days help a bit.

Mislead by Ole? FFS i hope that part isn't true because if so these players have no morals.
What's the issue? I can fully believe that there are some players in the squad that think Ole lead them nowhere, that's nothing to do with morals (as long as they stay professional about that) but just with having an opinion.

We know Ole misled players, as much as Henderson is a moany idiot, he was clearly misled by Ole etc. and thats just one quick example.
The players who were allowed to play while clearly injured. I'd also put those guys in the misled category.

It's not an advantage to not play the Leeds game.

Watching this Ajax team, it’s fascinating to see a lot of their composed passing and one touch passages of play are some of the build ups we’ve been seeing ETH bring to Utd this season. It’s like you can just see the Ajax team has ETH’s style stamped on it.

Schreuder was this assistant coach of EtH. Their play is very similair.

Lingard led himself out of the squad and didn't deserve playing opportunity. DVB hasn't done anything to gain further playing time.

So while standards and professionalism and probably accountability is being at it's highest in a long time by EtH, Lingard was shit. DVB was sent on loan and then came back then nothing changed. Henderson didn't even want to meet with EtH and forced himself a transfer immediately into the summer. Heard some noise about Bailly, but he was no angel himself especially being called out by Rangnick and then he was frozen out of the club and loaned.

He had like few months and a full preseason to do it. Not sure what 2 weeks going to change anything, one of which is international break.
Several players unavailable for pre-season. Biggest impact on our build up game are Eriksen and Casemiro. It'll be nice if we can get that midfield pairing ticking.

Yeah we need to see Casemiro start a game with the first XI,not mish mash we saw last Thursday

I think that will come with time. The problem we’re having at the minute is mctominay turned into a beast. Once he starts playing at his usual level then he’ll be dropped for Casemiro. Be a bit harsh to drop mctominay with the form he’s in and the partnership he’s had with eriksen.

I love this manager. I think he simply plays the best XI from the week in practice, which reinforces the work ethic in the team and gives him the best chance to execute his gameplan.

Also the off foot thing reminds me of that Dortmond vid series where their manager does the same thing. He talks about how it makes the team better in possession to be able to play out either foot, as well as individual players can show marked improvement after a few months. He mentioned one of his players was making 50' passes with both feet thanks to this, no idea if he's embellishing as I'm not familiar with their side but found it interesting.

My left foot of course might as well be a club so I have no idea what it feels like to be able to do that sort of thing.

This may be completely wrong but the Ajax performance against Pool last night made me believe in ETH even more. They showed none of their usual good passing and adeptness under the press. They have lost a lot of players sure but they looked different in possession, to me, than they have the last few years. Also the fact that FDJ and De Ligt haven't exactly gone on to achieve what we all thought they would. I don't know but it kind of makes me think that ETH has that ability to make players look better and get the most out of them (something Klopp has to a crazy extent). Obviously I'm expecting it to be 2 years before we are really challenging again but I just weirdly feel much more patient with him than I have under anyone else since SAF.

Every one of Martinez, Eriksen and Malacia have been excellent, and there's every chance Antony and Casemiro will come good with time as well.

It's certainly starting to make a lot of the hot takes like this look pretty daft already.

Still needs time to sort out attacking patterns. Pains me to say but I think we are just better Without Ronaldo upfront. Everything just becomes more static as he demands the ball so often. With rashford or martial we seems a bit more fluid.

Antony kept that move alive by showing a strong desire to get to the ball first. And that's something quite a few of our players have lacked for several years.

Great interview on United View with Melissa. she's got a lot of insider access and morely importantly, translates it here into great insight.
Haven't listened to all of it yet but so far, she's covered topics like
* The culture change ETH has brought.
* Varanes fitness, the specialised training and how the club had seen him as the best CB.
* The captaincy, Bruno's natural leadership
* Maguire and how cleverly his position has been handled by ETH
* How Ronaldo has been handled as well.

Most things we kinda already know but still, some new content and perspective.

Credit due, his signings know what he wants and are either 24 and under or were free. Malacia is probably a backup long-term, which is absolutely fine considering his price, but he works hard and isn't a liability and has upside. Eriksen has been incredible. Antony sticks to the touchline to give others space, and his movement off the ball to get open is good and he seems to make things easier on Dalot going forward. Martinez is fantastic and Sheriff won't be the last team that marks him and gives Varane a ton of space to carry the ball forward and initiate attacks.

Apart from the thirty year old midfielder that cost around sixty million!

I think it's safe to assume that was Ten Hag demanding a defensive midfielder and the club buying Casemiro. If I want to speculate further, I'd say a decent chance that Ten Hag asked for Alvarez and MAYBE he doesn't rate Sangare from PSV since that was a logical move to look into.

Positive to hear him planning for next two windows and gameplan for City game. Little worrying he said January or next summer rather than both though.

Thought Howson made a good point on his post match review when he said he's got too long to think about this game with City.

That was the case even last season.

EtH has arrived upon his first 11 (Rashford would have started if fit), and that first 11 has won him 5 games in a row now. The only unknown is who plays on the left when Martial is fit.

Amazing to have a manager who is not interested in soundbites and picks players based purely on form. McT's transformation has been astonishing. It is going to keep everybody in the squad on their toes, no matter how big the names are. Casemiro knows he has a fight on his hands if he does not want to be remembered as a player who was good because he was in a Real Madrid team.

Since Fergie, this is the first manager who has picked players on merit. LvG had his favorites (captain shall always play), Mourinho had his, Ole had his (big time), but EtH is being ruthlessly objective.

Let's not make such broad sweeping statements about ETH when he has only been in charge of like 8 matches. Besides what does it even mean? Maybe the cliche of judging the player based on how he looks at training comes into play. Or maybe the player is playing according to instruction but as fans, we think he should be doing something different?

McT is a perfect example. He gets slagged off by everyone for the last 5 years now and yet most managers have played him. (177 appearances in the last 5 years.)

Was he chosen because he was every manager's pet student and not on merit? Or has he been selected based on
''merit''?

He is doing very well on all fronts. Only that he does not play the youngsters more often/subs them earlier

I'm a big fan but honestly he should have started Elanga as our #9 last match or at least for the second half. With both Rashford and Martial out we'd better try him there to see if it works in order to prepare for the City game.

Ronaldo offered absolutely nothing and starting him against City would simply be suicidal anyway.

Its just its hard to make good buys in January so he's playing it safe with the things he says.
