nooooo sick of signing other big clubs cast offs. Matic Sanchez Varane Mata Basti Ronaldo Di Maria and so on. Just no. Find a young hungry version and mould them. Please no more of the above. The value was getting him from Leicester, Sanchez from Barca, Matic from Benfica etc. please stop doing this. He’ll be here till he’s 34 on 300k a week blocking the way of a true up and comer

Does anyone think ETH will come in and re-train anyone to a different position? McT as CB, Elanga as full back etc
I wouldn’t be against McTominay becoming a centre back, his range of passing isn’t good enough to be a top team PL midfielder although it is good enough to work as a ball playing centre back.

He is good in the air, physically strong, lots of stamina and would be quick for a centre back thus allowing us to play a high line so with someone like Varane alongside him could be led through games whilst learning the role and if memory serves me right doesn’t McTominay play centre back for Scotland ?

I was worried he'd turn Matic into a left-sided centre-back since he's left-footed and can pass better than our centre-backs, but thankfully Matic is leaving.

Exactly we have failed many times doing that to repeat this mistake once more.
I really hope ETH really has a list of not so known players, young players ready to develop at us. Signing Kante can be the idea of a 14 year old playing FM also.

I come to this thread to seek solace, to feel good about our future. But it is so full of whiners these days, moaning about the club, about players and everything under the sun. Disgusting.

Believes he can improve Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Mctominay and Elanga?

Erik Ten Months, it is.

Luis Enrique should be available by then
He can't replace everybody, They will be looking at who is leaving and making sure the ones who come in are a big improvement. If they do not improve then they will be in the next lot of players being moved on and replaced.

I think there’s probably more of a United level right back in Elanga than there is a forward personally. That would be my shout.

There is nothing wrong with signing those kind of players. The issue with the players you mention is that they were signed without a clear reason and most of them didn't really fit into our system (if any).

If our new system requires a player like Kante, then let's sign him. The new project will require experienced as well as young players.

Have you seen Elanga’s attempts to defend? They’re significantly worse than his attempts to attack, and they often flatter to deceive.

It could possibly work as a wing back of a 3 like Victor Moses, but that’s about it

Yeah I agree. I was guilty of supporting us signing the big names you mentioned because it was exciting at the time but my views on big name signings have changed over the past year or so. It would be great to see us sign an unknown player and turn him into a superstar like we used to do but there is so much work to be done at the club so I'm not sure it is going to happen any time soon.

I don’t know what that first sentence means, but I’m assuming he means he’s not going on holiday as he has work to do?

Good to hear if so.

Used to irk me when Woodward would go on long holidays when the season ended. I’m sure Moyes had a long one in June too

People say “it’s ok. Technology” but it doesn’t work that way

It’s not about the age of the players, but the player themselves. Our scouting department has been suggesting the wrong type of player for years.

Supposedly under Ole we were looking for players with the right attitude who wanted to play for United. yet look at who we ended up with, Maguire, Dan James, AWB, Tellas, VDB.

I’d say VDB can come good, but the others are not United quality, or at least not shown it.

It’s about finding those players that are technically gifted and who fit the system ETH wants to play.

This guy is absolutely going to transform us I feel. Looking forward to it. Looking forward to seeing some good, cohesive attacking football for the first time in a decade too (if not more, those last Fergie years were very zombie like).

Set a very good example straight to our pampered players. No more holidays in Dubai or Portugal during the season or need extra days off to clear fecking headspace.

That did happen. He went to Florida for pretty much the entirety of June as our fellow peers made transfers in that time, fumbling about in July and panicking in August. Feck Woodward for the majority of that but Moyes certainly underestimated the job needed.

I hope so, but then he needs to sign 3-5 quality players. There is no preseason or tactical gameplan that will make AWB, Telles, Dalot, McFred and a few other players play cohesive football.

Dutch media are reporting that the Ajax are team are going on a end of season trip to Curacao this week, but he isn't joining. His focus is on Man Utd starting tomorrow. He does still have vacation plans however.
