He's my favourite to watch along the young players. A classy player.

Was disappointed he was played at RB. However he often drifted into the midfield when we had the ball Cancelo style. I liked that.

Hope he gets some gametime in midfield this preseason.

He's filled in at RB a few times before. Personally, I really hope we don't see his future there because, imo, he can become a fine central midfielder.

I've said it before but he reminds me of David Pizarro.

Well we have Garner, Levitt, Hanibal, Matic, Pereira, and then with Pogba, Scott, and Fred coming back towards the back end, I wouldn't expect much.

He is very good on the ball, needs a loan badly.

"like a man in silk pyjamas shooting pigeons
Doncaster fans were waxing lyrical after witnessing Galbraith in the flesh for the first time and that view was echoed by their manager, former United midfielder Richie Wellens.

"I think he’s [Galbraith] got the potential to be a top player," he said.

"He seemed to take the big crowd and atmosphere in his stride. It didn’t phase him and he took the ball in all areas of the pitch, he probably only gave the ball away once in the whole game."

His style of play reminds me of Veratti.

My favourite of the young bunch. Really hope he makes it.

Baller.

I said in another thread that I think his ceiling is higher than Garner's and I stand by it. Just look at his touch, awareness and general intelligence. He's much better when pressed, and also is a more incisive passer through the lines.

Yeah Garner is playing in a higher level, but even the league one is very physical. Good to see him get regular minutes and impress, and hope he gets a Championship loan in Jan.

Looks good, has a similar style to Kroos. Is he playing as a DM? Don't think that's his position at all, he's quite small and playing so deep makes him slow everything down. As you say he looks press resistant and has a good pass so I think he really should be playing at least as a more forward CM.

Think he is playing in a midfield 2. He reminds me of Veratti.

Hard to tell how good he is, but i would like to see him in the Championship next season. Maybe at Forest replacing Garner? :D

From these videos, reminds me more of a less dribbling and and safer Frenkie de Jong. His passing between the lines is good though, like that he isnt going the safe option every time.

Love watching him play. I've said it for ages but I much prefer him to Garner and Levitt who get all the hype. The way he resists pressing opposition players is beautiful, and something we've been crying out for.

Him, Mejbri, Iqbal and IHA make for a nice collection of promising midfielders. All technically sound and press resistant. Hopefully at least one makes it here, but I digress.

As for Galbraith himself, he was already getting into Ireland first team squads in our u23s so you'd hope now with first team football he might start for them soon, too. @balaks , I know you've said in the past that you're hopeful of him becoming a good player for Ireland so maybe you'd find this thread and his performance updates interesting.

Yes we have high hopes for him here in Northern Ireland - already has 2 caps for us but has yet to start a game - hoping this loan works well for him and he continues to progress because we really need some quality in our midfield especially once Davis retires.

I hadn't followed him much until watching the u23s regularly last season to see how Mejbri, Shoretire, Elanga etc developed. He impressed me a hell of a lot in plenty of games last season and it became pretty evident that he was too good for that level and it was his physique stopping him from getting a loan.

Although highlight reels are only going to show the good bits of play, so unsure how his overall performances have been but still there's a lot of potential there with him.

He seems to have been decent for them. I like his passing between the lines. He also can get away from his man in midfield, which is very important and something that very few at United can do. What I am worried about is that he still seems lightweight and he can lose the ball easily in dangerous positions, even at U23 level. Hopefully, he has developed that now.

Doncaster fans are impressed:

What a good player he is at his age, pocket dynamo
Agreed , turns on the ball so well and leaves the opposition for dead
As I posted a week or so back, he’s a real player and well thought of in the Northern Ireland set up, and by the time he’s 26 he’ll have 50+ full international caps
He’s fearless and gets stuck in. I think he’s better than Herbie.
Exquisite close control.
He was superb today.

I wasn't impressed with him in the previous two games but of course he was a young lad slotting into a team with zero preparation.

Today he looked like a potential mester.
Quality player.
... back to EG and there are some great clips of him on YouTube leaving people for dead

It's not clear all the time if the matches were under 21s etc but now I have seen him doing it against senior Pros and it was great.

Can't wait to see more of him
That run of his just before the end of the game was amazing.
Great pace and ball skill

Just checked the table. Doncaster are bottom of League one.. not exactly an impressive level.. but at least he'll get minutes..

The promising thing is that he looks too good for said level. Not just from going off these clips but Doncaster fans themselves are saying as much.

Aye! I love watching him play.

Got a shot like Scholes, passes in between the lines like Carrick, keeps the ball under pressure like Charlton. As a whole, he reminds me of David Pizarro (there was a player, @George Owen  ) . I really hope he gets a shot at the top level - even if it isn't here.

He's my favourite of the young bunch, I follow him closely. He reminds me most of Veratti. I came here to post his compilation, to see you had already posted it. Even if he doesnt make it here, hope he has a good career.

Pizarro was much like Verratti in that, despite being small, he was excellent under pressure and could control games. Them two, De Jong and Arthur now - I'd definitely liken Galbraith to that style of central midfielder which is why, like you, I'm a big fan of his and follow him closely.

I think you might be going a bit overboard there. He'll be doing well to get to a point where he passes like Carrick never mind shooting like Scholes.

I'm not saying he's anywhere near as good at those things as them. That's just what it reminds me of. The way he leathers the ball for a shot, or the way he curls his foot around the ball when making a line breaking pass. Even the way he maintains his balance and keeps the ball under close control when he has somebody on him.

Tracked down and watched some vids of his games so far at Doncaster. I know the level's not high but he's noticeably way, way above it. I'm a Garner fan but I think this kid has more in the locker. His touch and ball control are pristine, his passing is incisive and creative, his low centre of gravity means these big League One lumps physically cannot jockey him off the ball.

But what's really special about him is his vision. I remember a big article a while back about how if you tot up how often players 'scan' (briefly glance up to take a mental snapshot of the pitch as they move with the ball) per minute, it correlates uncannily closely to how good they are, particularly midfielders. Well, Galbraith basically never seems to look down at all. And it shows. Even under heavy pressure he sees runners moving ahead of him and pulls these surprise line-breaking passes out of the bag.

tl;dr: Verratti regen.

Apparently had a good game against MK Dons. MK Dons had over 70% possession but Galbraith still managed a good amount of touches, which I'd expect as he's pretty press resistant and has that ability to still get on the ball and keep it even if the rest of the team is struggling.

I'm hoping a video of his performance is made.

It was made!

Considering his team only had about 20% possession, he showcased good composure to keep the ball. Also played a nice pass for Doncasters winning goal.

@Highfather_24 & @balaks , tagging you as you guys may care.

I didn't watch the u21 Russia game but I did watch the Spain one. Northern Ireland could barely keep the ball but, as expected, Galbraith was the one who could keep it against their press and help the team string a few passes together.

The number 17 in the Spain game - Chris Conn-Clarke - was pretty good under pressure, too, with some nice turns.

From the clips, he looks really good, for those who follow him, how does he compare against other young CMs like Gavi for example?

Thanks for the tag mate, have already seen this highlight.

I was hoping he would get a callup to the senior team. I know they lost 3-0 but he showed good composure against a team that likes to keep the ball.
