The SL is global, there should be no need to move a team from Manchester to Dover. It makes no difference to a fan in China or America where Manchester or Dover are in England.
You are incredible naive if you think that. But you wouldn't have a problem with that either so who cares.

It's not ridiculous but the examples aren't good because London is a huge city that can sustain 3 clubs and Manchester can sustain two clubs. It's smaller cities that should worry but I expect expansion teams more than relocations.
Manchester has a population of 550,000. Birmingham has a population of 1.1m. If there's no Super League team in Birmingham and 2 in Manchester, then why wouldn't some business guy think that could be a great opportunity for relocating into an untouched market? Or why stay in the UK at all if its an international league anyway?

Is that really so ridiculous though? It's literally what has happened to American football, with teams run by some of the exact same people.
People scoffing at clubs moving to different cities really need to look who is behind this super league, what they're capable of and what they're basing this whole thing around. Of course its unlikely now, but who knows what the future holds. It's just something that happens in America, and its American who are are leading this whole thing.

No it's not ridiculous atall but if it gets to a stage where owners can actually do it and get away with it would only mean one thing that fans by and large have accepted this super league and they have been hugely successful .
It's not all gloom and doom fans and supporters do have a say in all this their whole model is predicated on generating huge tv revenue JP Morgan is betting big on it may be initially they could get big numbers for their streaming and tv deals due novelty of it all but if audience don't turn up it would die quickly to be honest .

To be honest bit skeptical of any unnamed quotes coming out of Sky right now, they're totally shitting the bed. Although it sounds exactly like something our board would say.

Looks good. I'll watch all of that instead of this NFL rubbish that is being shoved down our throats.

Rangers have a huge following in the UK, and surprisingly Newcastle are quite popular outside of the North East. I said breakaway PL, this isn't the Super League I'm talking about. That fixture is worth more than Burnley vs Sheff Untied to a domestic broadcaster
But you still going to have Burnley vs Sheffield and Newcastle vs Rangers isn't equal to United vs Newcastle. So I don't really see where you expect more money.

Nah, we either stop it dead now or its too late for our clubs. Let's say they split off and then it fails horribly because not enough people watch it. Do you really think the FA will just hand all 6 teams back an immediate place in the top league? At that point the FA will hold literally all the cards.

It really does. The sort of unguarded and arrogant comment you would expect.

True but we will have two leagues to compete in and let's face it it's rare that there is a close title battle anyway, But yes it would be boring if we are out of both title pictures. But it would be boring if we were out of all the cups. The knock out element of the proposed super league helps with that to an extent. So I don't think the level of excitement for fans will be massively diffrent that the post-Fergie era or if the super league wasn't formed. You could also argue it could be compensated by seeing higher quality opponents more regularly making games more interesting.

The ESL may cost more, but then thanks have a choice if to watch them or just watch the PL. Like season ticket holders have a choice about the cups and currently.

I don't think the impact on the fans of the super league clubs will horrific at all, it's the fans of the other clubs who will suffer.
Season ticket holders only currently get a choice to opt out of League Cup or Europa League Games.

We have to buy CL and FA Cup tickets... I see no reason why this would be any different.

Lots of hypocrisy this morning. Football is dead and shit like dead. Every new thing in football was trashed and later, it was accepted. CL ("How non champions can play in champions league. Not fair. Rubbish!"), EL, bigger World cup, bigger Euro championship, VAR, 5 subs etc...
How is it hypocritical when other than the CL all of those indeed have been shite?

Yep on a market/demographic basis, there is absolutely no reason why there'd be even one team in Manchester.

Why everyone here is against it before knowing the full details?

If it is anything that would undermine the power of arrogant and corrupted Fifa & Uefa, then may not necessarily be the worst idea.

I always hate how Blatter and Platini were anti-United at that times (eg the Rio incident and Nani red card)

I think the guaranteed spot in the league, and the initial teams chosen is what I don't like.

If they simply replaced the champions league and had some sort of promotion relegation system I could get behind it maybe.

It's not a simple question of population but being able to sustain both clubs and having a local following. Old Trafford is often close to full, City is almost... You are right City are being moved.

We have known this FOR YEARS.

Have I woken up on a parallel Earth? Why are people so up in arms over this all of a sudden? Have we not been owned by the Glazers for years? Did we not know what they’re like?

Neville tweeting about socialism whilst working for Sky and never criticising the City owners. Herrera playing for PSG complaining about money ruining the game. People who openly campaigned for the Saudis to buy our club kicking off.

Have I gone utterly mad? Of course this is a shit decision but it’s the latest in a long list. If you wanted the Saudi’s to take over us, if you haven’t been up in arms about PSG or City ruining the game how on Earth is this the straw that broke the camels back?
Have to agree with the sentiment here. This is not a surprise and nor is it shocking. Its been dangled and teased and rumoured for many years now. Our concern as fans should not be about whether it will ever happen, because its obviously going to happen at some point. My biggest concern is about what this proposal actually ends up looking like for the rest of the football world.

I'm not in favour of a Super League however it ends up because I don't think its needed, but if it ends up screwing over every other club and competition that isn't a part of it then I'll have little interest in it and I'll probably have to find another football team to support. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Does it make it worse? Does capping City and giving 5 other teams the means to compete against them lessen the value of what we have now? Ive seen UEFAs proposals about swiss style CL nonsense. Its too far gone now since City bent UEFA over and there are no other alteratives from what i see.
Maybe they can get together and make this league work that does involve relegation etc but I can see why 12 clubs are asking for no relegation as we stand since they are taking the full force of the storm of criticism.
Transfer caps. Thats all that we needed and FIFA went and fecked that with their bribe money
It makes it worse for football. Forget about United we are talking about football. This is about morality football is not for the elite football is for everyone at all levels.

Yes fifa and uefa are shit yes they need reform but what has been proposed is terrible for football completely.

We used to think Seattle would always be large enough to sustain a NBA team. Oakland is huge, yet...

You don't have to know much about it to know that it's a disgusting, selfish concept that will kill any remaining tradition and history in the game. I hope it fails completely and all clubs involved get seriously punished.
