The only message Perez cares about putting across is to the Madrid fans, that without doing this the club would go to financial ruin. And in that sense by doing this he is their saviour.

Who let this guy answer interview questions

I don't mind the super league and even I think he basically talks like a bond villain.

At least this rules out Napoli and Roma as two of the three remaining founding members.

Nonsense? So why no other player come close to that? Why Atletico didn't pay Griezmann nearly as much as Barcelona did? Do they count as oil clubs?
Yes. It’s absolute nonsense to think PSG paying 360m for two fecking players hasn’t inflated the market. That PSG and City offering Messi a blank cheque hasn’t inflated his wages. It’s also total hypocritical nonsense to think it’s equitable and fair to allow state funded clubs to spend whatever the feck they want whilst saying to traditional clubs you have to share your media revenue equally. You either enforce FFP or open up media revenues to traditional clubs allowing them to compete. Otherwise you get the clusterfeck situation football now finds itself in.

What a mess. The future of football doesn't seem too bright right now. And to be fair, UEFA and FIFA played a big part on this. If they had financial fair play rules that actually did something, this would not have happened IMO.

Klopp's making a bit of a gobshite out of himself here. We have the rights to it? Is he trying to say no one else can mention YAWN? Ffs

They didn't actually have to pay him that much though. They chose to.
Letting him go would have caused total uproar. Think about the uproar on here when we didn’t spent 120m on sancho during a pandemic and times it by 100.

The one thing that worries me is the amount of idiots on social media spouting false equivalence comments at the players and the money they earn. They’re not understanding the stark reality of the situation, won’t buy in to it and will be contrary for the sake of being contrary.

Preston, they won the first two titles 130 odd years ago. This is following logic on this thread today, not my opinion.
Yeah, that's certainly the logic the fans of the Superleague follow. Preston should have cemented their top dog status with no risk of ever be relegated, because they were the elite at the time the competition was inaugurated. Stoke and Accrington too. And Notts County. The should have played each other forever in their elite competition with no one breaking it up. Does anybody think football would be as huge as it is if that was the way it panned out?

Watching Perez say what he says doesn't suprise me. The guy is living on the other planet.

Imagine actually wanting to watch a comfort league where absolutely nothing matters and your team gets some tinpot trophy handed to you by Perez and Woodward.

feck me
How is it different than crooks like Platini and Blatter handing out World Cups and CLs?

So they want to retain the heritage that was only possible due to UEFA formally establishing the European tournaments...

So let's keep inflating the bubble even more and delay the inevitable?
The lack of self-awareness of these cnuts is quite remarkable. Like a game that's lasted 150 years is suddenly going to die unless a few rich clubs can go on spending like drunk sailors. Fecking delusional..

Probably not fans at all. They're bots.

I get the sense that Perez is out of control and the other cnuts would probably not like him to front this PR disaster

Looks like he's scared of government involvement most of all.

They obviously predicted fan backlash and UEFA throwing a strop and maybe trying to get clubs sanctioned or ban players, which they could fight in the courts.

But they cant fight the governments.

So you are in the business of making up everything from facts to what I said while not answering questions? Did oil money made Barcelona spend 120m on Griezmann and pay him 600k per week? Did PSG and City magically appear during summer 2019?

Barcelona are responsible for their terrible decisions, no one forced them to do it, no one told them to spend 120m on Griezmann, 135m on Coutinho or Dembélé. They are the only ones in football doing it almost every summer, so unless you are ready to claim that PSG and City exclusively affected Barcelona, you are full of it.

If Sky are serious on this war on football that they helped create, then make all Sky Sports free to air then to show you’re motivated by the spirit of the game rather than the money everyone thinks you are.

The irony was sweet watching tonight as they’re condemning greed to immediately cut to plugging a Chisora vs Parker boxing PPV for £20 then going to 4 mins of ads

So their hands were tied?

I understand the sentiment but I still think it's nonsense. If the player wants so much money that it could bankrupt the club then feck him. You tell the fans exactly how much money he was looking for and make him look like the mercenary he is.

It's an absolute disgrace how much money Messi is paid.

For those who still think that this isn't happening...

Uh oh.
