So despite most fans wanting him to go, Moyes remains at the helm.

His contract runs out next summer so it will be interesting to see how that plays out over the course of the summer and season. Are they waiting until January to see how he performs? Are they going to offer him a new deal now? Does the McKenna sabbatical offer an opportunity to get a young manager with potential at the helm? We will see.

It could be another very active summer for us though.

Of players we have in the squad currently, it appears that we are happy to hear offers for Patterson, McNeil, Iroegbunam, and Alcaraz on permanent deals, Aznou on a loan deal and players like Ndiaye (United etc.), Barry (Leipzig) and Gana (potentially end of contract) all may leave too. If they all left we would only have a squad of 14 players, of which 3 are goalkeepers.

Hackney and George appear to be imminent permanent deals in which I think are good moves as both improve the squad in different ways. A Hackney, Garner and KDH midfield has a good balance of goals, creativity and combativeness while George has good potential if we can refine him a bit more. The fees reported feel 'future proof' too.

Aside from them we really need to sign two defenders at least (both fullbacks), another winger and another forward. I'd also be interested in another CB if it was possible.
 
Back on topic, is Grealish staying? Feel like that's a key domino to fall - I'm not convinced he'll age very well but he's definitely still a pretty useful player to have in the squad

The reports have been that we are trying to work on a deal, but it's not clear if that's another loan or a more favourable permanent fee than the silly clause in the loan.
 
Hackney signs. Good deal that, looking forward to seeing him play and having a balanced midfield three.

Interesting to learn we were thinking about signing him last summer too but opted to go with Rohl on loan to spread money across windows. I wonder if he rejected Ipswich on the basis that he knew bigger clubs were likely to come in for him again this summer.

We are working on a deal to bring George back on a perm, and are pausing on Grealish to see how his rehab has gone. If it's gone well and he looks fit then we will try and get him back on another loan or permanent it seems.

Ben White and Doue from Strasbourg are the top targets for RB but it seems we are put off by the latters price. I hope we go for it as he looks like a quality prospect.

Other deals seem to hinge on outgoings. If Gana leaves then we have been linked with Keita from Parma or Gueye from Villarreal.

We might not get another striker unless one of Beto or Barry goes. LB we might try and get better competition for Myko and let Aznou on loan etc.
 
What happen to Everton interest in Delap from Chelsea?

Hackney will be a good signing for Everton
 
KDH Garner Hackney midfield just seems a little too gungho for Moyes, bit too youthful and exuberant.

That's my only worry about him but if he gets the minutes and we get a manager at some point that can utilise his directness I think he will be grand.
 
The Bobble, who is our reliable itk, has been saying that Moyes and the recruitment team are at loggerheads over a RB because they care or believe we should be targeting different things. Barmy if the case that we are allowing Moyes to have so much power.

It’s crazy they’ve fallen out over a RB because a blind man could tell you that’s a position that you need to fill
 
Few solid signings but hard to say what to expect from Everton this season. They were 13th last season, won't be surprised if it's similar finish this season. Moyes' teams don't play great football but he has ability to pick up good amount of points so a midtable finish wouldn't be a surprise. Think at the end of the season Everton will appoint someone like Pochettino or McKenna.
 
Definitely need a RB and in my opinion need another ST up front, capable of goals at this level. Could they tempt Toney back to the PL?

The problem is Moyes wants to fill it with someone like JOB (Tall CB to RB type) and the recruitment team want a proper attacking RB.
 
The knives are already out with Moyes this summer. If we don't have a good start to the season then it's not going to be pretty.

George seemed a decent threat when he came on late against us at the new place! Can’t say I know an awful lot about the others. Ben white does seem like an Everton signing but seems a bit prone to injury.

We are apparently now in for Johnson from Celtic at RB. Oh joy!
 
Perhaps Howe replacing Moyes in a couple of months.

I think he's alright but I'm not sure about him as a first choice PL RB in terms of quality/his injury record. I think he's a good squad option though so hopefully he's one of two. He hasn't been on any previous lists of RBs put forward by the Athletic so I'm wondering if he's the cheaper option prior to another being brought in if Ndiaye is sold.

Also liked some of the players that played for them over the last couple of decades and some of the football their teams played and I always liked Goodison.
I thought they looked good under Moyes last season until around the time that Grealish got injured?

This summer if we made a change I wanted Iraola or Glasner. Ship has sailed on both.

Future wise I can see someone like McKenna being our manager.

I feel theyve had a lot of good deals from us in the past, but never return the favor.

Eh, seriously?
One of our greatest ever players in Rooney?
They also bought Schneiderlin from us for a very decent fee.
Even Phil Neville who was very good for them ended up being quite instrumental in our favor in our comeback at Goodison late into the 06/07 season.

Howe will be next Everton manager I reckon.

Moyes out of contract next summer so him leaving at some point wouldn't be a big shock at all.

Did what was expected stabilising Everton but that was a really poor end to last season when qualifying for Europe was very realistic.
 
How much higher do you expect Everton to finish exactly? It's not like you've got a particularly strong squad. Garner is excellent but there's a pretty massive drop off to the rest of your players. Ndiaye is leaving aswell. Branthwaite was injured most of last season, don't know what his current level is now. Who do you see as your best players and why do you think you should be presumably finishing top 10?

Last season we were 3 points from top 10, 24/25 we were 8 points and 23/24 we were 1 point. There isn't much between the teams in that mid table bunch between c. 15th and 8th and it comes down to the finer details with recruitment and manager.

After 33 games last season we were on 47 points and Chelsea were on 48 points in 6th. We both shat it in the final 5 games and tumbled down the table but the general squad is there to put up a fight for top 10, especially if the recruitment is right in key areas like RB and the forward positions.

Ndiaye hasn't left yet though I'd expect him to, and Branthwaite hasn't lost his quality despite his injuries. Every time he's played he's looked good. Grealish is likely to come back and Hackney is a good addition. You mention Garner but not KDH who is also good.

There's more to get out of this squad with a better manager I think and with the right additions.

I was going to suggest in jest that Moyes has narrowed it down to the current Celtic or Rangers RB...but then :lol:

I guess I don't really understand the hate for Moyes given you already came very close to top 10. There's more potential for you to fall backwards with the wrong appointment ala West Ham imo. KDH is a good player too tbf, forgot about him. I could see Hackney doing well, intrigued to see how he adapts from the Championship. Grealish coming back would add quality but he is looking more and more like he's become injury prone imo, so even if he does rejoin I'm not sure I'd be expecting to have him available for the full season. I don't see someone like Pochettino for example agreeing to join you. I'd imagine he'd have better offers if he decided to stop managing the US team (which I don't think he will anyway).
