Perhaps Balogun will link better, I don't think Barry/Beto were much of a problem when it came to goals.
The Barry/Beto combo were very strange in the way they were hardly ever on the pitch together, nearly always one subbed on for the other. You could almost treat them as one guy they played together so little and it's not really an exaggeration to say that. 3449 minutes between them whereas one player alone could play 3420 if he played every second. Between them they got 17.07 xG and scored 17 goals. No penalty goals or penalty xG in there at all.
It's hard to compare that to other teams/players but I don't think it's that bad.
Bit weird comparing two to one but it's kind of valid here such is the way they played so little together. Nearest obvious thing last season was Thiago at Brentford, played 3282 minutes out of a possible 3420. Scored 22 with 20.60 xG but there's 9 penalties taken in there, 8 of them scored. Without them he's on 14.6 xG and 14 goals and he was seen as a roaring success when the Barry/Beto duo was at least as potent in open play and seen as flopping.
Brentford's supporting cast did more, perhaps in part to Thiago himself bringing them into play which Balogun may improve, or maybe their other players are just better. Obviously always better to pay one player than two to do the same job as well! Still, give Barry or Beto nearly every minute like Thiago and they probably would have scored as many if you took away the pens from Thiago. Either that, or Everton just needed a Dango to get fouled for a lot of penalties who won 5 on his own, give Barry/Beto those pens instead of Ndiaye (scored 2 out of 2) and they would have been seen as decent too. Might well have scored about 11 or 12 each, sharing the minutes.
Edit: People think Calvert-Lewin is ok right now, enjoying a renaissance. He scored 10 in open play for Leeds last season, 14 when you chuck in the pens and he played quite a lot with 2721 minutes. 272 minutes per open play goal compared to Barry's 238 and Beto's 172. Penalties can change perception quite a lot I think. Thiago was 234. Not saying Beto was great, and it is easier to score towards the end of matches when he was often coming on but they stacked up decently enough when covering all the minutes together.

Wow, can't blame him - Everton isn't a particularly fascinating proposition is it? They only have themselves to blame for leaving things until the last minute.
Everton fans seem ready to riot over this window and it is hard to blame them. I know they have had issues with previous owners but as a fairly keen watcher of Roma I knew that the Friedkin family were no saviors. Lots of big talk but the money is never there when it comes to the crunch.
Not a bad Fantasy League pickup at this point (Barry), but as far as their business goes for what they want to do they've screwed this up badly.
Is George going to get some playing time up front? Can't be leaving yourself with just one forward option. Might as well as kept Beto, not like they got a fortune for him.
They've had a shit window, lost their best attacking player, and yet I still think they'll cause us problems at the weekend, the game raising cnuts.

They can be awkward to play against, especially at their ground and given we've already conceded 4 goals in first 2 games, I think it's a given we'll concede again just a question of how many and if we can score more than them.
No but the PL is an infinitely bigger platform than Ligue 1 to showcase his talents. This would've been the ideal time to make the move given he's 25 years old. Everton has a track record of not standing in the way between their standout players and a move to bigger things if he would've performed there (think Onana, Ndiaye, Lukaku, Fellaini, Stones, Richarlison, Gordon, ...).
Now he needs to have a(nother) good season at Monaco and he'll likely still get shipped off given his contract expires in 2028, but I don't see what he has gained by not signing his contract. Other than getting to live another year in Monaco instead of NW England of course, but I'm talking purely from a career/football POV.
Monaco still need to sell to balance the books, no? That's why they pivoted to accepting Chelsea's previously rejected bid so quickly after Balogun failed his medical. So they've ended up arguably worse off than Chelsea and Everton in the little saga. They'll try and flog someone to Turkey or Saudi in the next few days.
Can't blame the lad for doing one. Why would any decent to good player want to join Everton? A shambles of a club with a dinosaur of a coach.

Basically their forward options up to probably mid January are Barry, Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George.
Barry very random with his performances and usually needs to be taken off after an hour but they've lost Beto now as experienced backup. Brennan Johnson played CF in the past but he's just coming off a terrible year and lost plenty of confidence from his Palace spell.
Anyone semi reasonable on the free agent list upfront as with the tweak in the calendar with the new international break you do get three weeks to get someone up to speed if you sign them in next week or two.
Not ideal by a long way but surely Everton have to get someone in just for more depth as there's another 20 league games to go before they'll get another striker in.

Think Joselu is available as a big lump option to fit the same sort of target man profile as Barry.
Martial as one of the younger freebies out there but he appears to be totally gone.

Can almost see them going back for Doucoure, think he's available on a free. Not a striker but could score a few at times and knows the club.
All these off transfermarkt's list of free agents, if any have clubs blame them.
I can understand why he walked. Everton refused to pay the original price due to "injury concerns", but still trying to push the deal through anyway.

Look poor, worse than last year. Another slog season under Moyes ahead.
Get Tarkowski and Mykolenko quality replacements + a new striker in January, get Grealish fit and playing good minutes, integrate Norgaard and AMN. Then they have an okay group that should aim for 9th/10th place. Conference League might be tough to reach. The middle of the table is so stacked, they could quickly find themselves in the 14/15th spots again.
Buzzing for Tyrique George. That was a cracking goal.
I don't know if Moyes is the right coach for him. I always felt a club like Palace or Bournemouth is a better place to go if you're a young, developing winger.
