Everyone is up for sale (again)

Its going to interesting to see what kind of players they manage to bring in to replace them with no European football on offer and very liitle funds to spend, overpaying for Matheus Cunha probably isnt the best way to start.

You start by not going for players who only want European football and instead want to play for a big club. Basically the profile that Cunha exemplifies.

No he wanted Rice and Mount is who he got. The press were putting 2 and 2 together because he Mount played in Holland but when he was signed the club briefed is was a club signing as part of the summer where they gave ETH less control allegedly

Thanks for clarifying, I always put the blame on Erik on that one.

Not going to read _too_ much into an admittedly much improved performance, given the pressure Villa were under and us being a man up for half the game. However, even in the first half, the same thing we've known all season remains true - having so few reliable goalscorers in the team just makes everything ten times harder.

It's like we need to play twice as well to score, and even the merest mistake at the back means we get punished in the result.

One goal from open play was pretty meagre given the domination. Had that handling error from Altay gone against us we could easily have ended up in a familiar situation yet again.

It's not a stretch so say we could have been 2-0 up at half time with decent finishers. And that's before we consider how many more chances we could have made with more quality in creator positions.

One thing I will say is that the team seem more comfortable in the formation. The issues in the team now are more about the quality of individuals and confidence levels within the group. General play isn't perfect, far from it, but that sense we had at the start of the season of players now knowing where to look for a team mate has definitely abated.

Again, no point reading too much into the good bits of the performance, given the context. But finishing the season on a win at least gives some relief.

I think it’s an exaggeration. Yes in some positions he requires players that are pretty unique. Eg attacking wing backs who can defend.

But the rest is just about mentality. CB, CM, Striker are no different to any other team. The two tens just needs to learn about playing together
Not sure - I just watched the Portuguese cup final and how Gyorkeres played was an eye opener for me in terms of him (I wasn't convinced about him as a player who as at Coventry until recently and attracted no PL interest then) and his effort and application versus someone like Hojlund who just doesn't put anywhere near as much in. It's about attitude, effort and application on top of actual game knowledge and natural talent. In this example, one has all, the other doesn't.

Sure we might as well do 2-for-1 offers then?

Everything Must Go! After a season that redefined "rock bottom," we're throwing open the doors to Old Trafford for the biggest fire sale in football history.

Special Offers:

  • Buy Marcus Rashford, get Rasmus Højlund absolutely free! That's right, two forwards for the price of one. Goals not guaranteed.
  • Purchase Luke Shaw, and we'll throw in Dalot. He's been resting all season, so he's fresh!
  • Sign Bruno Fernandes, and receive a complimentary set of captain's armbands. Leadership skills sold separately.

Bonus Deals:

  • Acquire Harry Maguire, and we'll include a year's supply of GPS trackers to help him stay in position.
  • Pick up Jadon Sancho, and get a free mirror so he can reflect on his performances.

Limited Time Offer:

  • Take our entire midfield, and we'll pay you! Yes, you read that correctly. We'll cover the costs just to see them play elsewhere.

Call now and receive a free DVD of our "Highlights of the Season"—a short film featuring our two wins and a lot of near misses.

There are not many players I want to see again next season
99% of the fan base share your view, however some of these players unfortunately will still be here next season!

We clearly need to sell at least 7/8 players to finance a major rebuild, this is the summer that INEOS and SJR will be judged for the rest of his life, so they need to produce or relinquish control.

Lets see. I think the obvious ones will be all gone

I've been (and remain) a defender of Amorim, but I'm not looking forward to losing Garnacho and Mainoo to fund his transfers this summer. Garnacho is our one point of difference. Mainoo is a brilliant local youngster. The Europa League final really was an epochal game, and we blew it.

We'll be back, but the satnav must be recalculating the route.

I think he’ll keep Kobbie unless someone offers £75m plus and no one is offering that on his form this season.

Amorim unfortunately is on borrowed time, I keep saying he needs 15/16 points from the first 8PL games just to buy him more team.

He needs 5/6 first 11 players with GK, mobile fast CB, R10, CFW, L10 and a genuine pacey wing back, without those players who are all elite PL players he won’t survive!

Anyone who loses 3 games to Big Ang is tactically inept!

Don't we have loads of fast, mobile CBs? Yoro, Martinez, Shaw, Heaven. Seems to me the priorities are:

Striker x 2
Keeper
Right wing back

It'll only be one of the two - likely Garnacho going to Napoli.

Hojlund is, and it’s taken me a while to accept this, just not good enough. Gyorkeres could likely thrive in any position.

How many interested buyers are there?

Garnacho had Napoli and Chelsea interested, but it might be tricky to get fair value given the public nature of his situation
Mainoo was wanted by Chelsea, I don't think it would be difficult to find interested party, but I hope the club value him north of 70m at the very least and hold on to him.
Bruno wanted by Al Hilal (and rumoured others).
There is rumoured interest in both Hojlund and Zirkzee from Italy.
There's been no rumoured interest in Sancho, Onana or Shaw.
There's also not been anything tangible with Rashford, but Antony has interest from Betis, and Atletico were rumoured to be interested too.

I just hope we start executing deals sharpish for outgoing players.

The list is long and I hope we sell at least 8 players. I would even support selling Bruno for 80m as I think it is time to move on. I feel he plays a big part in our recent failings as club captain

Eh midfield / attacking midfielders/ wingers ?
There are no wingers in Amorim's system. As for wing backs, I see Dorgu/Amass on the left with Amad/New Signing on the right.

By 'attacking midfielders' I assume you mean 10s. There's this guy called Bruno...I'm sure Mount has a future too, and Cunha.

In midfield I would like another signing but there are only so many signings you can make. Striker, keeper and wing back are more obvious priorities for me. That would leave us with Mainoo, Ugarte, Casemiro, Collyer and maybe Bruno dropping back. Sure, I'd like a better passer in there so Bruno doesn't have to drop back, but it's not as big a problem as our lack of goal threat and the mistakes from our keeper.

Yes those 17 goals and 16 assists he got won’t be needed next season

It is not that we cannot replace him. And where should he play? CM? He is also 31 and to cash in can make sense if we improve the team dramatically

How have we overpaid? It's not 2007 anymore. For a PL proven player, at that age, with his potential, coming off the season he's had, he's basically exactly the sort of money you'd expect him to be. Try and get angry about something else.

Did any of our players, bar the obvious in Evans, Lindelof and Eriksen, look as if they were saying goodbye yesterday during the lap of honour?

I imagine Garnacho’s gone. How did Casemiro look during it? Onana?

The profile will be...

- 25 or below
- athletic
- capable of carrying the ball

Funds are not really limited, we have access to tonnes of cash. The club will push the PSR line becomes it makes sense too, from a negotiation standpoint, but I expect a net spend of £100m+ is likely.

When factoring in sales (and actually understanding how PSR and football finance works), I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't spend £200m net.

Im not angry I just think £62.5m is too much for an attacker who scored only 6 goals in 40 games for Atlectio Madrid in a league where Antony has 4 goals from 16 appearances this season.

Why base your opinion on his time at Atletico, where he was younger, than his most recent time doing well in the PL for Wolves  having your dreary outlook must be so draining, bless you.

I’m gutted we’re linked with Delap. He only scored 10 goals in the Under 9 youth tournament I saw him in. :(

Sancho is Chelsea bound.

Antony is also linked with Leverkusen.

CM - Ederson.

CAM - Mbuemo, Eze, Cherki, Olmo.

But for CAM, we already have Mount, Cunha and Amad, so the funds could be used towards another wing back or CF such as Mateta, Semenyo or Wissa.
Mount is not reliable so id be going for Mbeumo or Eze granted we will be fleeced for them . Olmo is not realistic , I’d imagine Cherki will want CL football if he was to leave

Feels like every year there is talk of a clearcut but it never happens, as we are unable to receive any value for players or nobody wants to take on their contracts.

With all the talk this offseason it will be interesting to see if we truly have a clear out, or we are stuck with a bunch of players the manager does not want and end up sending them on loan yet again.

Possible departures, on top of the players that have already been confirmed to have contracts ended (Lindelof, Evans, Eriksen):
-Rashford
-Sancho
-Antony
-Garnacho
-Malacia

Other possibles:
-Onana
-Bruno

Could be massive from a financial perspective, but investment will be needed.

Interesting summer ahead.

The likes of Antony and McTominay and so on have done us a great favour I think. Previously I just think other clubs thought our players are rubbish but these two along with some others have proved it's the club. That alone sould raise prices going in to the summer.

Laughing at the idea of our negotiating team pointing this out when agreeing deals

"He's a great player, we're just a rubbish team! Look at McTominay!"

Haha yea!

I have said it before, the problem is upstairs. Because of the Glaziers and the situation they put the club in and installed some of the worst football people I've ever seen in top positions it's been impossible to meet the level we should strive for. I don't trust any of them. Hopefully we can start fresh but the most important signing this summer should be a sporting director that actually gets to set a strategy.
