This must be our best away victory in Europe since the treble year. We were tight in defence and efficient, fluid in attack, and Deportivo could only managed a dozen useless long shoots. Remember some people always said:
1. 4-4-1-1 won't work
2. We need Veron in CL
Hope this victory have cleared things up.
But it is also very costly, as Keano and Scholes are set to miss next round and Becks doubtful. That makes our misses in second half even more wasteful. If Giggs has scored his clear chances and two clear penalties have been awarded, we should have crashed them for 5-0 or more!

i think we did play well but i don't believe that depor really had that good of a game, so it wasn't like we were up against much. also, i'm wondering who said we need veron in the CL? i'd be surprised if i heard anyone say we need veron at all...

Pity Keano didn't think to curse at the ref after pulling his ham - he's on a yellow and I dread to think he might miss the final again...

As regards tonight's performance - Bayern - Man United in the final again?

:D

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> There are still a number of people here who are willing to defend Veron to death. I don't think you need me to quote examples.

However, like it or not, now we must hope Veron can play next week after we lost so many regulars. Hope he can take his chance this time.

This is a truly classic balanced Utd performance.

Solid all the way through.

We've got to play like that for the rest of the season to capture silverware.

At least for this sat's game, we've got scholes, butt and giggs in midfield. Not sure about Veron or Beckham being fit in time for that game though.

I'm going out on a limb here - but from the look of the challenge, I'd say Beckham's got a swollen ankle and no worse. Don't be surprised if he makes Saturday's game...

And if I'm wrong, hurl abuse at me.

Shit goal too... ;)

I am going to disagree with you here mate. The very reason Deportivo could not play well was because Sir Alex had his own ideas how to counter them. Butt traced their most creative player Velaron (sp?) everywhere and our midfield was VERY quick to defend. Reminds me of P Neville chasing Zola a couple of years ago. Today we had 5 (FIVE) defenders including Nicky and this without compromising our midfield of Scholes/Keano/Becks and in an advanced role Giggs. With such a formation, Deportivo just could not breathe. I always thought that Sir Alex's weakness was tactics - well I was wrong.
