Expectations under Ole: 2019/20

This period reminds me of what happened after Sir Matt retired. A steady drift toward relegation.

Avoiding a relegation battle must be the top priority next Season along with a major squad overhaul.

If we are still trying to play this system, formation, and these players then the results will be the same. I cannot remember seeing a set of footballers look so clueless. Without serious changes on and off the pitch I can see us grinding our way to a top 8 finish.

Realistic expectations should be getting back in to the top 4. Unfortunately I think top 6 will be beyond us under the current set up.Really fear the worst

Disastrous start, change of manager before Christmas, some improvement, end up in the same bunch as Leicester and Wolves.

My expectations for 19/20, when it comes to our ranking in Premier League, is based on how strong I consider our rivals.

Tier 1: Manchester City & Liverpool
Tier 2: Tottenham
Tier 2,5: Arsenal
Tier 2,7: Chelsea
Tier 3: Manchester United

So I'd say realistically we'd end up fifth. If we can mess about with Arsenal and Chelsea I'd say our chances for top four are ok but I'd still put my money on fifth. If Arsenal nail their transfer window they'll be set for a top four with Spurs, Pool, and City above them leaving fifth and sixth between us and Chelsea.

Now I personally don't mind us being thereabout for now as long as I see a healthy progress in terms of us starting to get an identity, a philosophy and a regular starting XI. Those are my biggest concerns and something I've missed ever since Ferguson retired. We haven't had a proper identity. We've been a scattergun on-field and off-field. We haven't executed a proper tactic in I don't know how long. All of this has been our biggest downfall + Woodward thinking big name signings will solve any of our problems.

I hope we'll shine in the cups and Europa League. Europa League is our current level. If we want to raise our level we have to crush the opposition at our current level and grow from there.

Hoping we'll start a proper overhaul. Although I can name around ten or more players I'd like to see leave it's simply not realistic in 1,5 window. Hoping Solskjær will limit the minutes of the dross that isn't shown the door (Jones, Young & Lingard etc). My concern is that Solskjær won't be ruthless enough.

I'm not going to start guessing on who we'll bring in. All I'm hoping for is that we are bringing in some very solid players with their head and heart at the right place. We need good passers, crossers and clever players. Wouldn't mind a proper water carrier either.

But with the nuts above Solskjær you never know man. We could end up sacking Solskjær by October.

Not going to happen.
Not going to happen. EL is VERY difficult to win, as are domestic cups.
And as long as Wolves are in the cup competitions, we won't be getting past them.
EL isn't VERY difficult to win, Chelsea and Arsenal haven't been thaaaaat much better than us this season and are both in the final.

Sacked by end October having spent 300m on another useless bunch. Everton and Wolves will have us in their sights next season. 7th.

Hmm I expect us to spend an obscene amount in the summer, be between 6th and 9th at Christmas and about 20+ points off the 1st place. We'll be battling with Wolves, Watford, Everton and Leicester for Europa League spots for the second half of the season and Ole will be sacked in May and we've to start over yet again.

Top 4, you don’t have to be a good team to finish 4th. We’ve taken a lot of attention away from fact others aren’t that good, only 6 points off third despite being useless for most of season.

Some signings to add balance, better fitness and any kind of plan would be an improvement.

Tend to agree.

Hopefully blood in a good few youngsters and show a style of play and direction for the years ahead.

For me minimum would be finishing third and a good run in cups.

A squad being built around Rashy, Jonah et al, talented players like Pogba and De Gea being sold, deadwood like Smalling, Young, Lingard staying, I reckon Ole will be gone before Xmas and we'll start the merrygoround again with a new manager who gives all the deadwood time to prove themselves, which they won't. Manager will come under pressure as a result, board won't trust him with money to make signings, deadwood survive and manager gets the chop. God, football has broken me :lol:

My expectations are improvement in structure and football. Results will come late if those are improved first.

“Rebuild” is being thrown around a lot

It’s absolutely necessary, but I don’t know why people speak of it as though it’s going to happen.

We signed 2 players last Summer. Solskjaer has already said we won’t sign more than 5 players this one.

Unless those 5 players are Van Dijk, Kante, Salah, Hazard level signings, we’re not going to be much different.

Let’s give it the summer. But I expect us to miss out on the majority of target we identify and probably panic buy Maguire in early August.

Seems a certainty that young, jones, smalling will still be here and they will cost us dearly yet again next season. 9th with Ole being sacked.

Honestly my only expectation is he has to improve the attitude of the squad and make us a little less the China of the premier league.

Can we just have a decent season where we look like Man Utd and not like Huddersfield or Stoke please?

7th or 8th.

City and pool are top tier and will finish 1-2.

Chelsea, spurs, arsenal and I think wolves will push on too so they’ll be 3-6 and I think Leicester will push hard for 7th with us. Thing is I’d accept that position if there’s a clear rebuild and we shift the deadwood out this summer.

I expect good football, and a Man Utd spirit on the pitch. Players fighting, running and being commited. Anything other than that would be a bonus.

Realistically speaking, I think Liverpool overachieved like hell this season, most of their squad is mediocare and they will drop off next season, I belibe they'll finish 5th, and I think that all the Poch lovers are in for a surprise with Spurs as well, who havn't been any good the past few month, and thats with an established squad and coach. Chelsea will improve after selling Hazard.

I think City will unfortunetly claim another title, and we'll battle it out for 2nd-3rd with Chelsea(considered we'll make some good business), but far behind the leaders. Top 5(behind the 1st) will be way closer next season, we can finish anywhere between 2nd to 6th and I choose to be optimistic.

Table:
1. City
2. Chelsea
3. Utd
4. Spurs
5. Pool
6. Arsenal

Starting XI
--------DDG----------
LB Lindelof Koulibally Shaw
Fred New Cm New CM
RW Rashford Martial

Belive we'll sale Pogba and Lukaku but hold on to De gea atleast for another season trying to pen him down to a contract. All deadwood gone, Rojo, Darmian, Jones, Mata, Sanchez etc. We'll need a completley new midfield and I wrote Fred down because it's impossible to buy 3 in 1 window, probably end up replacing him aswell next summer.

I trust Ole and I think he knows the typw of players this team needs, talent and personality wise. Cant wait for the summer to start, genuinley believe we'll have a decent summer and a good season ahead.

Ummm, chelsea will improve after selling Hazard, their best player, when it is very very likely they won’t be able to sign any players? Liverpool’s to drop out of the top four when they have played fantastic football all season? Huh?

Wasnt aware of Chelsea's ban, but Liverpool will drop off, as they have after every good season they had. Their squad is filled with mediocare players who over-achived and covered with megatons of luck in games that they should have drew or lost. I am certain that Looserpool will be nowhere near this form next season

I think it’s important for our fanbase not to lower our expectations of Manchester United, regardless of how poor we have been in recent years.

We should expect and demand to be the best. Top 4 should be the minimum requirement, but I’d never personally ‘celebrate’ such an achievement.

We need to keep the pressure on the club and players to perform and challenge at the top.

I fear we will become similar to Arsenal in terms of squad quality and fan expectations. The Arsenal fans I know became extremely passive and lowered their expectations, viewing top 4 almost like a trophy.

Also whilst I don’t agree with the fans who were verbally abusing Pogba, I want us fans to make ourselves heard when the club isn’t performing to our expectations. I feel this approach will set a precedent going forward.

Obviously I would hope that to be the case, but if their squad is filled with mediocre players I'm pretty sure Klopp will be doing some business in the transfer window. They have an excellent back line and an excellent forward line. They are so far ahead of us in both those departments. I'll be impressed if they repeat this form, but I don't think for a second any other team behind them has shown even an inkling of being able to surpass them

Do people seriously believe we'll be fighting relegation next season or are they just being dramatic?

I don't have particularly high expectations and I don't think Ole is the right person to lead us forward, but get a grip people.

Have to see what we sign. Going off of my assumptions I'm going to guess we sign more like 3 signings than 5 or 6. I could see as high as 4th if we get a lot of things right (signings, style of play, effort) or as low as 7th or 8th if it's more of the same and the signings aren't of good quality.

The truth is probably in the middle so I'll say 5th or 6th and a couple of good cup runs.

Maybe 5th or 6th in the league? I don’t know really, don’t have great expectations for next season.

I don’t see us making wholesale changes in terms of players leaving/coming in so we’ll stay where we are unfortunately. I hope I’m wrong though.

Liverpool has been in the CL final the last two years barring injuries they aren’t falling off. They may not get as many points as this year but they’ll be a threat to break 90 again.

Chelsea losing Hazard will be problematic.

Not sure what is going to happen in the transfer window to suggest that United will finished 3rd.

Liverpool are an 80 points team. Let's see what signings they make, but 90 points again is too much of an ask for them without a lot of luck going their way.

Well done OGS.

The club are finally building something, and we have a man excellent platform now to move forward with.

A large % of our fanbase should hang their heads in shame and think about the abuse they continue to give out to our manager.
