The 2020 season, starts in Australia 15th March 2020, before that there is 2 pre-season testing dates.

-19-21 FEBPRE-SEASON TEST 1Barcelona
-26 - 28 FEBPRE-SEASON TEST 2Barcelona

F1's 70th anniversary season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 15
2020 looks set to be the biggest in F1 history with 22 races and a new track in Vietnam the 34th country to hold an F1 race, it will be round the streets of the capitol Hanoi, but we have lost the German race and there is rumours this year could be the last in Sochi Russia.
Formula 1 is returning to Zandvoort and while F1 haven’t raced there for 35 years the essential infrastructure is in place. There’s no doubt that it is undergoing upgrading to be ready for Formula 1 but that was something that the owners of the circuit and the current promoter team looked at before they even approached the FIA. There were a number of preliminary conversations with the FIA and planning has been ongoing for some time – with F1, the FIA and the designers – and we are on schedule.”
The deal for Spain to remain on the calendar, and for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to host its 30th F1 race, was only approve this week, paving the way for a record-breaking calendar.
Slotting Spain back into the calendar was no easy feat, particularly as Vietnam had been added in for the month before in April, with Zandvoort in May – when the Spanish race has traditionally been held.
“It was always in our minds to see if we could include Spain, but we also knew that it would mean 22 races and we would need to get teams and the FIA to be supportive of that, so it was not a straightforward process,” says Targett-Adams.
“In terms of complicating the scheduling – it is always a logistical challenge. There are so many factors to take into consideration, from conflicting major events in a country or region, to religious festivals and holidays, TV scheduling, cargo scheduling and how complex it is to move from place to place.
“I compare it to doing a never-ending Rubik’s Cube – every time you slot something into place and think you’ve solved it, another line has changed. Adding another race to the calendar is always challenging, but we think we’ve arrived at a good solution for 2020.”
The Britsh Grand Prix at Silverstone, moves back a weekend, avoiding a repeat of a clash with the Wimbledon tennis finals.
The Italian Grand Prix at Monza, which is currently the only circuit that has been part of every F1 championship season since 1950, appears on the calendar subject to contract.

The rule requiring Q3 runners to start Formula 1 races on the same tyres used on fastest laps in Q2 is set to be dropped by the FIA for 2020.
But the change, which is included in the latest draft set of the FIA's 2020 F1 sporting regulations that has been issued to the teams, will only come into effect if all the squads agree.
The rule was originally intended to mix things up in races, based on the assumption that the top 10 would start on a softer and less durable tyre than those behind.
But that has largely been negated because the top three teams enjoy such an advantage over the rest of the field.
This has led to some - and on other occasions even all 10 Q3 drivers - being routinely able to make it into the final segment of qualifying on a harder tyre.
But because the deadline for rule changes passed on April 30, this decision will have to receive unanimous support, and it is understood that at least one team has indicated its opposition so far.
Another change planned for 2020 that is yet to be fully approved but that the FIA wants to implement, is a restriction on practice starts over race weekends.
This is intended to create an element of randomness for the actual race starts.
From 2020, should the rule be approved, drivers will no longer be allowed to do practice starts at will at the pit exit during the free practice sessions.
They will only be allowed to conduct such tests on the grid at the end of FP1 and FP3 - a system that is already used at tracks such as Monaco, where it is not possible to do starts at the pit exit.

Some more changes for 2020.

Formula 1 has relaxed restrictions on engine usage for 2020 meaning drivers could suffer fewer grid penalties.
Drivers will next year be able to use three MGU-Ks - a part of the hybrid system - one more than in 2019.
The move brings the MGU-K into line with the other parts of the power-unit in terms of permitted usage.
F1's complex, high-tech turbo-hybrid power-units are officially split into four parts for the purposes of the rules.
In addition to the MGU-K, which recovers energy from the rear axle and redeploys all hybrid-generated electrical energy to the rear wheels, the other three are the internal combustion engine, the turbo and the MGU-H, the part of the hybrid system that recovers energy from the turbo.
In 2020, drivers will be permitted to use three of each part during the season before becoming subject to grid penalties.
In addition, the engines require an electronics control box and a battery, with two of each being permitted for a season.
The change was confirmed in the 2020 rules, which were officially published on 4 December, after a meeting of the FIA World Council, motorsport's legislative body.
No more hiding
Among other minor tweaks, the chequered flag has been reinstated as the official signal of the end of the race.
This follows a mix-up at this year's Japanese Grand Prix when a system error led to the official light panel at the start-finish line showing a chequered flag signal one lap before the end of the race.
Although the drivers kept racing to the designated grand prix distance, the race result was declared one lap earlier as a consequence of the error.
And teams will no longer be able to use screens in front of their garages to obscure views of their cars during testing.
This is already banned at race meetings, but until now teams had blocked garages from sight in pre-season testing, mainly to stop other teams getting a view of their new designs.
The restriction will be in force from 09:00 to 18:00 local time each day and the only exceptions are when the floor of the car is not fitted or during the recovery and repair of a car damaged in a crash.
Pre-season testing in 2020 is on 19-21 and 26-28 February at Spain's Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Ferrari will launch their 2020 car on February 11 - eight days before the start of winter testing - and say they consider themselves the "challengers" rather than favourites for next year's title.
The Scuderia became the first team to confirm their launch plans for next season, with team boss Mattia Binotto expecting their new challenger to be the first 2020 car revealed.
The first of two three-day winter tests begins on February 19 at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya. Ferrari have tended to unveil their car a matter of days before the start of pre-season track running.

"We will launch the car very early. I think we will be the earliest," Binotto told reporters at Ferrari's Christmas media lunch.
"The reason why we are anticipating the launch and the unveiling and then moving on is we must see some dyno homologations before going to Barcelona.
"We are launching the car on the 11th of February 2020, but again, because soon after we've got an intense program of benches before to go to Barcelona 2020."

Ferrari have vowed to address the weaknesses of this year's car - especially its downforce levels, which they admit will increase drag and reduce their straight-line advantage.
But Binotto also said that their 2019-leading power unit will undergo "significant" architectural changes in order to make further improvements.
The Scuderia claimed only one fewer pole position than runaway champions Mercedes in 2019, yet the success of their car in race conditions was largely track specific - with the team finishing the season 43 seconds behind Mercedes in the Abu Dhabi GP.
"We didn't have the best car in 2019, Abu Dhabi is straightforward," said Binotto.

Verstappen has re-signed for Red Bull so hopefully it will be a lot more competitive in the new season.

Dont think there was ever a doubt he would re-sign, he is a WC in the waiting.
Dont rule out Leclerc, he is another WC in the waiting.
Will either win it this season, both in with a good chance.
Still think Lewis can win it again and he will definately be up for it, he wants more of Schumacher records.
Lewis needs 8 more wins to over take Sch 91 victories and he wants that 7th WC win.
I think 2020 season could be on of the best ever.

Is there any actual major changes to the cars that will likely change the running order of the cars from last year. Or are we likely to have Ferrari and Mercades up top, with Red Bull in the mix every now and then. Then the rest after that.

No major changes until next year so odds are that this season won't be much different from the last 6, i.e Mercedes/Hamilton cruising to the title.

I'm usually a bit of a hopeless optimist so every year I think that this is the season where Ferrari gets back on top, but right now I can't see any other outcome than Hamilton winning just as easy as he always does. Ferrari's endless c**king about has stripped away most hope and they have so much to get in order overall that I doubt they could turn it around even if they had the car to do it.
Hopefully Red Bull can take another step this year though, if Honda delivers a competitive engine I could see Max fighting for the title with a bit of luck, or at least beating Bottas for 2nd overall.

I did hear that Ferrari are concerned about the car ... Clearly everything has to be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage but given how the Merc was performing at the end of the season they would seem to be favourites... Though I'm interested in seeing how red bull perform... super talented driver in max and newey might find some aero magic in the changes

Racing Point will be renamed as Aston Martin from the 2021 Formula 1 season.

Following weeks of speculation that Lawrence Stroll, Racing Point's billionaire owner, was poised to buy into the British carmaker, it was confirmed on Friday that a consortium led by the Canadian would pay £182m for an initial 16.7 per cent stake in Aston Martin.

As a result, Aston Martin will become the new name of Stroll's Silverstone-based F1 team from the season after next. The initial agreement is for a 10-year term.

"Mid-engined cars are a core part of Aston Martin Lagonda's future. As part of this, an enhanced approach to F1 is considered important," read a statement.

Aston Martin will continue as Red Bull's title sponsor in the upcoming 2020 season, but it was also confirmed that the partnership will end at the end of this year.

I expect this season to go much the same way as last season, another relatively comfortable Hamilton title.

It's 2021 I see it/hope it will get more interesting.

There is a "significant chance" Formula One's Chinese Grand Prix will be postponed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, according to the sport's chief executive Chase Carey.

The Shanghai race is currently scheduled for April 19, but now appears likely to become the latest sporting event to be delayed by the health crisis.

Makes perfect sense.

It has now been postponed, they are looking at dates to run it later in the season. Dont see how they can untill the put it in the summer break, but the situation has to improve first.

Renault have declared intent to rediscover their Formula 1 momentum in 2020 as they launched their season, minus the new RS20 car, in Paris.

But the absence of their new challenger at the event on the Champs-Elysees was of no significance according to team boss Cyril Abiteboul, who said he did not want to present "fake cars" before they were finished.
Instead, Renault revealed digital teases of the RS20 ahead of its debut at Barcelona testing next week - when it will run in a special winter livery in the hands of Daniel Ricciardo and new French signing Esteban Ocon.

Did Ferrari sort out the drab paint job?
No. The crap matte paint was something that even I thought they had a decent chance of fixing for this year but to no one's surprise they still managed to screw it up.

Yeah, not a fan of the papaya orange. Should which back to the Sliver / Chrome livery when Mercedes start supplying them again next year.
Noooo, papaya's great. Don't like the arrangement with the blue and black this year though, or the matte paint.

They could embrace it and get rid of some more of the black. The darker swirls could help exaggerate the curves of the car. But as is, it's black with a papaya top.

For a team that's liveries were iconic after numerous changes, McLaren's latest efforts are shocking.

Williams have done better.

This looks good, did not see season 1.

its fantastic, my Mrs has zero interest in racing but even she really enjoyed it. Well worth catching up with it before the new series.

After all of his self-hype in series 1, im looking forward to a behind the scenes look at Daniel Ricciardo at Renault
