Either Bottas is useless or his engine is suffering from the wear and decreased performance that Hamiltons was before the change?
Probably has more power yeah, but he drove well nonetheless.
That was easy for Lewis, he has been fastest in every session so far.
Bottas is usually pretty good in qualifying. He can drive fast, but he can't race.

Crofty is tweeting this, And when I say “back of the grid or pit lane start” my understanding is that it would be for The Sprint (Saturday) as qualifying today forms the grid for The Sprint not for the Grand Prix (Sunday)

Depends.. don't know how much more it opened. Any margin for error? Would be harsh to make him start from pit lane if it opened like .5mm too far or something
yeh i think he would start at the back of the sprint grid , then get 5 grid penalty after that
I agree, but rules are rules and if broken there must be punishment.
Start at the back in the sprint , he is not getting in the top 3 and then the 5 place grid drop, could down to 8th or lower for the race.
what if he finishes 15 th in the sprint?
I say he’ll get away with it, Ferrari got away with endplates or intake ducts years ago, they won’t want the championship won like that
A DQ for that can't be right. You get a 5 position penalty for using a 5th engine when only 3 is allowed, same thing if you go for your 6-7-8-9-10th engine, but your DRS being opened X mm too much gives you a DQ? Insane if true.

I would tend to agree , Crofty is normally pretty good with his calls.
I guess if it's considered 'cheating' then the punishment would be more than an engine change for that reason. Seems harsh though.
I want to see how much more it is open first and how much less drag.
I doubt it would account for 4/10ths faster, would it, I dont know.
If your car is outside of the permitted rules then you're disqualified, simple.
It's no different than running bigger brakes or using 6 wheels. If your car is out of the spec allowed you're chucked out.
Now how they prove it, and whether Mercedes would be stupid enough to try that trick? i'm not sure. Quite possibly a mechanical failure which if proved they should get away with it.
It will definitely be a huge moment in the championship. It would be hard enough to catch Max starting 6th, but any lower than that and he has no chance.
I hope they have a reason for it. Because it would be such a great shame for something like this to put to bed the championship.

They needed to do something they didn't stand a chance in Mexico. If they broke the rules they should get disqualified no if's and but's about it.
Very strange, no decision until the morning. How long does it take? Technical infringements can be pretty harsh remember Vettel and the fuel issue.

Now Max has been summoned for inspecting and touching the merc car after qualifying. Quite ridiculous scenes, could you imagine Merc blaming him for it.

I dont see a problem with him looking, seen Lewis , Seb to it and others many time, but did he touch it, not sure he did, but even if he did, does anybody really thing he damaged something, I dont not for a second.
Anymore penalty's for Lewis and the title is effectively over for him.
Its been a good battle this season, dont want to see it ruined by this .

The hearing has been adjourned to Saturday in Brazil while stewards "await further evidence that will not be available until the morning".
Shortly after that communication was sent out by the FIA late on Friday night, Max Verstappen was called in a separate summons to appear before the stewards on Saturday at 12.30pm GMT for a possible breach of parc ferme rules after qualifying.

Unrelated to the latest kerfuffle, just more of a general sentiment, but I don’t think there are a duo in professional sport that I dislike more than Horner and Verstappen.

There's not much to what Verstappen did, apparently the rules are no "checking" of cars in Parc Ferme.
