Well that’s one way to put it on pole
He’s absolutely Schumacher’ed it!
I don't think it's on purpose, but if you already have P1 and go out ahead for last lap, all your incentives are to push it to the absolute maximum... either you get a better lapvor you crash but secure pole.I know there’s conspiracy theories about drivers getting yellow flags in Q3 on purpose to protect their P1 but I don’t think this one with Charles will be one of them.
HA HA not a chance.Tactical crashing there classic Ferrari
Yep pretty much. Unless you get gear box damage and which incurs a grid penalty if it needs changing doesn’t it?I don't think it's on purpose, but if you already have P1 and go out ahead for last lap, all your incentives are to push it to the absolute maximum... either you get a better lapvor you crash but secure pole.
True. Just a frustrating outcome sporting-wise if he ends up keeping pole. I have no preference for Max or Charles or anything, just feels a really cheap way to end up securing pole.Yep pretty much. Unless you get gear box damage and which incurs a grid penalty if it needs changing doesn’t it?
I have to agree about it being frustrating. Looked like we were about to get a genuine shootout for pole.True. Just a frustrating outcome sporting-wise if he ends up keeping pole. I have no preference for Max or Charles or anything, just feels a really cheap way to end up securing pole.
Hasn’t hooked the setup this weekend and struggled to overcome tyre warm up and oversteer. He’s been poor basically and it’s costly around here. Why did Hamilton struggle so much? (Not that I'm complaining nice to see things mixed up)
Perez is doing badly surely CH will be getting twitchy
Yeah I was joking.HA HA not a chance.
He could have gearbox damage and thats a 5 place grid drop

Perez has never been a great qualifier tbhPerez is doing badly surely CH will be getting twitchy
Should have put some money on Ferrari.Interesting point for reference, cars that were strong in sector three look to be strong in Monaco. Think Ferrari might surprise a few this weekend too.
He hit the barrier, broke his steering, he was a passenger.I'd need to see it again but at first look, it looked like he turned in to the barrier on purpose.
He wouldn't have been expecting to lose control over the kerb and do that much damage but it looks suspect.
If he has no gear box damage and he stays on pole then fair play to him,it was worth trying I suppose (fair play is obviously the wrong word here)
Yeah, exactly, he'd have done a Rosberg and locked up into Mirabeau or Sainte Devote if that was his aim. He'd been getting insanely close to the barrier on previous runs and got it wrong on the final attempt, think of how many drivers have had that exact same crash there over the years.Ferrari on pole, get in!
For all the conspiracy nuts out there, I doubt he would choose to bin it in such a fast corner and risk the damage if all he needed was a yellow flag to ruin it for everyone else.
Not sure he has been a great anything at Red Bull so far. Not ideal when you have a one year contractPerez has never been a great qualifier tbh
I think the problem is Red Bull not the driver if I’m honest. Not sure he has been a great anything at Red Bull so far. Not ideal when you have a one year contract
They need these on live tv. Special channel of course. I don't see why they can't do it.
A few unhappy drivers.
Initial checks apparently look ok for him to be able to keep his gearbox so he might be ok, though they won't know for certain until tomorrow morning. As you say, there have been multiple winners in the last decade who've had ruined tyres or a broken engine and still won so better to gamble unless it's broken.whats the likelihood of Chalres having to change his gearbox and take a grid penalty? Probably best to keep the broken gearbox . Not like you need a functioning car to finish p1 in monaco anyway
They aint changing it. Starting p20 here, might as well run the gearbox until it blows up. Best he'd hope for in that scenario is 10th. Unfortunately with these gum ball tyres, its high unlikely that any driver is able to pull off a "schumacher" and go last to 5thFerrari says a post-qualifying inspection of poleman Charles Leclerc's gearbox has not revealed "any serious damage", but the team will make a final call on the component's potential replacement on Sunday morning.
