Phenomenal Russell! And on the mediums too!!

Looks like Williams have improved to slightly up mid field

Just really hope he isn't hit by bad luck tomorrow again

I'd say it's more George outperforming than them having genuine midfield pace, you'd expect more from Latifi if they had midfield pace improvement.
Very good point, he's like a Hamilton, getting the absolute maximum out of his car. Surely, Surely, this has to make Mercedes promote him to Bottas' seat.

Also Lewis has signed a 2 year deal so when else can they put him in it, he can't be stuck in that Williams for 2 more years. I can't even think of any other open seats for him, unless they bin Ricciardo from McLaren?

I know Russell is a Mercedes driver, does F1 do loans like football? Eg if they (incorrectly in my opinion) keep Bottas next season, and say McLaren decide to bin Ricciardo who's been a bit naff, could George go there for a year "on loan?"

Can’t underestimate Lando’s season so far, he has been superb. Smashed Danny Ric, he’s going to be immense.

His engineer saying Ricciardo's technical feedback is lacking isn't exactly a good sign either. Can see it being his last season in the McLaren.

Russell will start 8th given Vettel will get a penalty, amazing from him as well as Norris. So bloody close to Verstappen.

Fantastic by Norris, and Russell! Just hope Norris has the pace in the race tomorrow to get a podium. Seems a really nice guy too

What is Max not happy about? I'm surprised they didn't use Perez to tow him, though it meant Perez got 3rd so can help out in the race

Hamilton did not look impressed, just sitting in his car. Thing is if Max has problems tomorrow, he eats back into his championship lead

Max didn’t want to be first in line for the 2nd attempt in q3 which is understandable on a track like this.

Bottas 0.04 behind today and 0.03 in front last week, if Bottas is that close to the maximum of the car I'd keep him. I won't of course, because Russel is much better. But now for the first time in years Mercedes needs a great driver because Red Bull has, while (almost) matching the Mercedes, Hamilton doesn't show up.

They have 1 unless you mean 2 great drivers?

Russell up to P8 now with the fall out of the Alonso incident and the penalties.

Tomorrow has a max victory written all over it from turn 1. What an effort from norris and russell. Mercs in trouble, lewis will have to hope to get p2 at end of the race and damage limitation. This championship has Max and RB written all over it.

Barring a DNF or a mistake, cant see anything other than a Max win.
the Mercs look well down on power, still shocked that the Red Bull have no only caught up but exceeded, rule changes have something to do with it but still.
Toto says upgrades for Silverstone, but will they be enough ?

Should I bring up Baku, Monaco and Imola too? The point is that it doesn't matter how much or how little he got on Bottas if he's on pole and Bottas is second, and that it doesn't matter if one out of 3 Bottas is the faster and he'll get him on tyre management or to strategy. It does matter now, these are the races he has to get considerably closer to the max of the car than Bottas, and he doesn't.

FIA takes the easy way out and penalise Seb only.

Seb at fault for being last in line of the jam up whereas Perez and Bottas gets away with it despite them being the one that created the jam in the first place.

Maybe look at the last few years mate. Maybe look at the number of championships and also the number of mistakes by each driver over that period.

I struggle to believe you are trying to claim Bottas is at the same level as Hamilton? You make a long winded and incoherent case. Really, what exactly is your point?

No he is not, he's just a replacement driver that turned out to suit Mercedes better than a good driver. The point is that Hamilton didn't need to have a considerable gap to Bottas when the Mercedes was by far the best car. It's on saturdays like these two that he needs to get 3 tenths more out of the car because it counts now, and he doesn't.
