F1 2026 Season

Wonder if Toto will let Russell put the engine on mode 0.002 to help him get to 2nd.

Don’t see how people are still complaining. Since the SC the racing has been good

Ferrari need to be smart here and keep Russel behind Charles, as Ant said he will get that extra boost if he sits just behind Lewis.

Colapinto and Ocon have managed to hold their own on those older tyres

Race 5 is when the other PU manufacturers can introduce PU upgrades and hopefully Mercedes fail the hot compression test.

Slow them down slightly and we can have genuine race victory racing.

Looks like boost train might be a thing. Russell is stuck battling the 2 Ferraris

The cars being able to stay close is a positive, but having to take corners slow and clip on straights is horrendous. I think they can sort it eventually by adjusting the amount of battery available.

He was until the stupids feckers started battling each other, the aim for now should be keep Mercedes at bay and take as many points as you can off them, realistically a race win was not on the cards for Ferrari today, Kimi opened up a 8 second gap during that scrap.

Yhh it’s a wonky balance and the clipping issue defo feels anti-racing but I think with time as these teams learn the new regs, we could reach a happy medium

Do you know what's stupid is not taking advantage of the month off to try and rectify the situation

What’s planned

  • The FIA and all F1 teams will review the new energy management rules after the Chinese GP once they have data from the first two races.
  • The review will focus on battery harvesting and deployment levels, which many drivers complained about after the season opener.

Why the meeting is happening

Drivers and teams say the current system forces excessive energy management:
  • Cars sometimes run out of battery on straights, causing large speed differences.
  • Drivers have to lift or coast in unusual places to recharge, which some say makes the racing feel artificial.
Because of that, FIA single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis confirmed the plan to review the system after China with teams.

Changes that could be discussed

Possible tweaks mentioned in the paddock include:
  • Increasing battery harvesting limits (to recharge faster).
  • Reducing maximum electrical deployment power so drivers can sustain boost longer.
  • Adjusting the ICE vs electrical power balance.

Antonelli vs Russell is going to be interesting later in the race.

Ferrari might not be quite on Mercedes pace but Hamilton being right there with Leclerc is such a boost.

He's always been quite an intelligent racer, so I'm wondering if adding the battery to think about is an advantage. It's great to see he's still got it though.

Its so stupid how far Russell is away from the Ferrari's in a few laps. Those Mercs are insane.

that helmet cam of LeClerc one hand through the corners

Imagine Mercedes died and this Ferrari battle, for the race and the title, between two top tier drivers. What could have been.

Ferrari should issue team orders so Hamilton can get his first Ferrari podium. Helps the team in the long run for him to get the monkey off his back.

The one solace every team not named Ferrari and Merc can take is that at least they're not Aston.
Neweys biggest career cockup? Double stacking the batteries and forcing honda to design such a tightly packaged pu.
