FA Cup 4th round | 13/2/26 - 16/2/26

Just watching the highlights of the Villa Newcastle game and I realized how much worse things were without VAR.
True, the problem really is that the same incompetent idiots we had pre-VAR are the same people running VAR. So things have improved in accuracy but not as much as they should have.

How did Salah get away with gripping that blokes neck then gets a penalty
imagine Amad getting that one, the whole social media infrastructure would get hammered.

Every FA Cup game today is on TNT.

It's an absolute fecking disgrace.

"Game's gone"

From the BBC Sport live text today:
August Priske is the first Danish striker to play for Birmingham City in the FA Cup since Peter Lovenkrands against Swansea in January 2014.

How do you even begin to arrive at a fact like that? Did they see that was Priske was in the team and ask themselves "I wonder when the last time a Danish striker played in the FA Cup for Birmingham City was"

When you add about 8 different qualifiers, stats can get really un-interesting pretty quickly

"He was the first Belgian with 8 letters in his name to score for Mansfield Town this side of the great war." Well yeah.

Løvenkrands also played out wide a lot as well so labelling him as a striker is a bit odd and renders this even more pointless.

I'm in the wrong job. Getting paid to find obscure and pointless football facts that nobody would ever ask about sounds like a good gig.

Another injury in the warmup and Calafiori is out. Hitting player's shins with baseball bats before games seems to cause issues.

I'd say it's another case of Arteta overplaying players/rushing them back but I think Calafiori was injury prone before Arsenal too? As far as I remember hearing when he signed anyway.

But then you could argue bringing in Saka who looked completely unfit and has been overplayed into injuries a lot is an example of that still.

That was precisely the finish Martinelli needed to execute against Brentford.

Could have swore Gomes hit the bar for Wolves even though the BBC stats clearly missed it off. Mind you not as bad as Osman calling Fulham Wolves three times.
