2nd Half Highlights please !
It's impossible to saySo as good, better or too early to say?
So exciting, Really looking forward t seeing them developIt's impossible to say
You can see that Morrison and Pogba are exceptional at this level, you just can't know how they will develop and how much of their superiority is down to their physical attributes at that age.
They definitely have talent, but it's a big gap between U18 level and first team
Incredible isn't he. The French Bobby Charlton.Pogba excites me far more than even Morrison. WHat a player!
Way too early to say but they would need to be better to push their way into the current team. Back in 1992/3/4 United didn't have the depth they have today. When we lost three starters in the summer SAF was pretty much forced into using the kids.So as good, better or too early to say?
that's worded wrong I think. Sir Alex knew what he was doing, he wasn't forced. He believed in them and they delivered.Way too early to say but they would need to be better to push their way into the current team. Back in 1992/3/4 United didn't have the depth they have today. Well, they won it 4 years ago and certainly seem to have one of the best academies around. I wonder if they'll put less emphasis on bringing players through now that they're rolling in cash. Would be great for us if they did, the retarded 90 min rule isn't going away anytime soon.Well done lads, very proud. Some very exciting talent there.
This is what United were doing while City were parading their oil-money tin-pot. They can spend another half a billion and they won't see their kids doing this.
Yep. That was probably Fergie's biggest gamble in his managerial career. Letting go of three of our best players in Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis was a huge show of faith to the likes of Scholes, Butt and the Nevilles, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions Fergie ever made. I'd be delighted if even one of our current crop could have a similar impact that that lot had.that's worded wrong I think. Sir Alex knew what he was doing, he wasn't forced. Usually former players struggle during their first few commentaries, but he was just smooth.Great performance second half.
Love Nevilles commentary!
I think Leeds, West Ham, Villa and Middlesbrough would all disagree with that assessment even based on just the last 15 years, possibly even City too.The 92 team were very special.
If you go back through the history of youth football a team is lucky to get one or two starters from a winning youth team. Only reall exceptions have been teh 92 team and Busby Bases, and maybe the 1986 City team but they only played low level 1st division or 2nd division anyway.
Right - lots of good players have come through at those clubs, very few of them among the best in Europe.I think Leeds, West Ham, Villa and Middlesbrough would all disagree with that assessment even based on just the last 15 years, possibly even City too.
True. But then again that's not the point i was makingRight - lots of good players have come through at those clubs, very few of them among the best in Europe.
Who in the group of 15 players who start regularly for United isn't currently among the best in Europe in his position? Sheasy, Gibson, maybe Park, Fletcher and Anderson. That's it.
Different levels and TBH none of the ones you mentioned had a massive return from their Youth Cup winning team. The 1992 team and Busby Babes teams both produced top international players.I think Leeds, West Ham, Villa and Middlesbrough would all disagree with that assessment even based on just the last 15 years, possibly even City too.
Your post said that you're lucky if you only get 1 or maybe 2 first team players from a youth cup winning side, and that United are the only exceptions. Well all those sides I mentioned have had at least 3-4 first teamers emerge from their respective cup winning sides, and that just in the last 15 years or so.Different levels and TBH none of the ones you mentioned had a massive return from their Youth Cup winning team. My definition of a first team player is obviously very different to yours. I would consider someone a first team player if they play at least 30 games a year for a few years.Your post said that you're lucky if you only get 1 or maybe 2 first team players from a youth cup winning side, and that United are the only exceptions. Not quite true....United have had a history of getting 2/3 through in MOST years...in the 1950's, 1964, 1992 and 1995 it was many more but most years we do ok.The 92 team were very special.
