Loan deal to QPR now confirmed.
http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2829655,00.htmlHighly-rated Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva has put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal at Loftus Road.
The talented Brazilian, who has made 53 First Team appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, has agreed a deal until the end of the 2012/13 season.
Fabio will link up with his new QPR team-mates at pre-season training on Monday, ironically the day when he celebrates his 22nd birthday.
A delighted Mark Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "It's a great opportunity for us to loan a good, young player, who has decent experience of playing for a top Club like Manchester United.
"He's played a lot of senior games for United, so it shows the quality he's got.
"I know they think very highly of him and we believe he has all the attributes to be a success here next season."
Hughes believes da Silva's versatility will give him far greater defensive options next season, adding: "First and foremost, he's a good defender. He's got great enthusiasm as well, and just like his brother, he's a top professional.
"We can give him the games he's craving at this stage of his career, so it benefits everybody.
"He's very versatile - he can play left or right-back and he's also been utilised in midfield by Sir Alex (Ferguson) in the past, so we know what we're getting, and that's a very good player."
Fabio, who just missed out on a place in the Brazilian squad for this summer's Olympics, said: "I'm so happy to be here.
"This loan is so important for me in terms of my career. I want to play as many games as possible here. I want to play well and win games as well.
"It's a good move for my career and for my confidence.
"Sir Alex Ferguson said that I'd enjoy it here and told me to play as many games as I can."
He added: "I know that QPR is a Club with great history. I read about the history and that's why I'm here.
"I also came here because I'm ambitious. I want to help QPR progress up the Premier League.
"Hopefully the fans will enjoy watching me in action, because I'll do my best."
He'll be played otherwise the deal wouldn't have been agreed. The reason why Kiko wasn't played was because he was signed for QPR before Warnock was sacked. Hughes was under no obligation to play him and the signings he made showed that he had little intention of playing him. He still gave Macheda a game or two but he didn't impress.I hope we have a clause to recall him in case QPR decide not to play him (like they did with Kiko).
Good move to remain in the PL and gain some experience here rather than go abroad. Hopefully he'll return a better player and can challenge for the LB position.
Talent has never been his issue, its his frail body.Fabio will play quite a bit....
Left back/Right back/midfield - league + FA Cup + CC = 30 appearances all up.
That would make it a pretty successful loan.
The number of games he'll possibly play is one thing but how he'll perform in them will this loan successful or not.Fabio will play quite a bit....

If fit, and I realize that's a big if with him...he will without doubt perform in his loan spell. The number of games he'll possibly play is one thing but how he'll perform in them will this loan successful or not.
Looks chuffed
Holy crap, Goal.com actually got it right.Fabio is going on loan to QPR and Rafael signed a new contract til 2016.

I didn't think they unveiled loan signings like this, and have QPR got two shirt sponsors?
Yes, they are sponsored by both Air and Asia.I didn't think they unveiled loan signings like this, and have QPR got two shirt sponsors?
That looks so wrong... Then again, if they do actually play him and he has a stormer then...
Absolutely. I've still got high hopes for Fabio. All this chatter about Baines...I still remember Fabio's debut against Spurs. The lad's got it just needs the games.Surely would have gotten many more appearances if Evra wasn't such a large presence "in the locker room".
Here's hoping he's absolutely fantastic for them.
It's much better than it used to be, they actually have some proper journalists now, they used to just post crap from the tabloid gossip columnsHoly crap, Goal.com actually got it right.
Taiwo was on loan which has expired and Young is in his 30s. He'll have plenty of opportunities otherwise we wouldn't have agreed to send him there. This seems like a crap idea for so many reasons, hope I'm wrong.
Taiwo, Young and Onuoha are starters ahead of loan-signing Fabio. With QPR's awful record in cups, I can't see him playing much.
I'd rather he stayed here and started more games.
Also, we don't really have another left-back after Patrice.
I really wish you're right.SAF knows best obviously but part of me wanted him to stay at OT and really challenge Evra.A guy who played in the CL against Barca should be playing in a much better than club than QPR.If fit, and I realize that's a big if with him...he will without doubt perform in his loan spell.
He had a tough time last season, but don't forget, he forced himself into a starting position in the CL final against Barca, a little over a year ago...and didn't exactly disgrace himself.
When he plays, he almost never lets himself or the team down with his performance.
He'll have to wrestle the ball off Barton and Taraabt first.Obviously he's been well down the queue here, but I wonder if he'll have more chance at them at QPR.
Was one of our better players in that match.I really wish you're right.SAF knows best obviously but part of me wanted him to stay at OT and really challenge Evra.A guy who played in the CL against Barca should be playing in a much better than club than QPR.
It's Rafael's birthdayWhat is ironic about him joining the QPR team on his birthday?
