Facts about football that shouldn't be true - but are

England games at left back

Ashley Cole - 107 caps - 0 Goals
Myles Lewis Skelly - 1 cap - 1 Goal

There are more La Liga players born in January and February combined compared to the last four months of the year. In 2022 at least.

I understand why, but I still wouldn't expect it to be this significant.

Putting your hands up before taking a corner gives you no advantage whatsoever
It can be a timing tell that only one team knows. If for example you agree on 2 seconds after raised hands in one game, and 5 in others, or to use both in a game. There has to be a little advantage in that.

U can fake start your run at the ideal time if you know exactly when the ball is coming, or just time the run better with no faking.

There is a whole book dealing with issue. Its a insane stat found in every professional sport. It doesnt need be January, if the cut off month for a group age is June , then July and August are over represented.

In Spain it is January and February. Because they're all put in classes and age groups for sports depending on the year born. So the earlier your born, you may have a slight advantage because you might be the best from an early age. There are plenty of studies about this in Spain and I know a few couples who are purposely trying to have babies early in the year.

Yeah but the other team can see with there eyes when the ball is kicked so this is moot?

I think you forget how short the run-up for a corner kick is.

Everyone can see when the ball is kicked, but it is much easier to time your run with a timing tell. Plus the tell can be confusing for the opposition as well when you use different gaps
in the same game.

Because the run-up for a corner kick is so short, many of the players should ideally start their movement before the actual run-up.

Brazilian Ronaldo only scored 14 champions league goals in his career, someone like Raphinha already has 12 alone this season.

We've lost more games since Sir Alex left, than we did during the entire time he was at the club. :annoyed:

Gary Neville's points per game record with Valencia was 1.32.
Ruben Amorim's points per game record with United is 1.1.

Ian Wright made his Arsenal debut a year younger than Cantona was when he retired.

Not true, that's Amorim's Premier League record comapared to Neville's all competition record and giving him some imaginary points in cup compeitions.

In La Liga Neville won 3, drew 5, lost 8 for 0.88 points per game.

If we translated Amorim's record into all competitons he'd be on 1.41 which isn't exactly great either, but better than Neville in both league only and all compeitions.

Good investigating sir, I stand corrected

Ange Postecoglu has now managed 70 premier league games. 25% of the points he has won as manager came in the first 10 matches (26 of the 103)

Had Liverpool lost every league game since beating Spurs on 22 December, they’d still be one point ahead of Manchester United and Everton.

Technically - no. If you'd lost every game since then, our 2-2 draw on Jan 5th would have been a win for us. Get your maths and stats right.

Benitez : Facts ...

Oh dear. So two points behind United…but level with Everton. I still back us to get 13th.

If Liverpool won the league every other year between now and 2050 and we won none then they would have 1 more Premier League title than us.
