Facts about football that shouldn't be true - but are

Man City are the only club to get the relegated (1938) the season after winning the league (1937).

In the season they were relegated they were the league's top scorers (80 goals) and had a positive goal difference (+3).

Casemiro has a better goals per minute ratio than Salah so far this season.

Samir Handanovic saved 6 penalties in all competitions in 2014 and also 6 penalties in the 11/12 Serie A season. 38 documented senior penalty saves outside of penalty shootouts in total.

Liverpool the current English league champions haven't had a single player in the past 3 England squads.

Norway had 3 sons of their 94 WC squad on the pitch as they qualified(99,9%) for another WC today.
Small nation, but not the Faroe Islands either.

Italy had never lost a non-friendly in Milano until a few hours ago.

The first time they have conceded 4 goals at home since 1955

My favourite one is still that between 1990 and 2013, there was only two seasons (1998 and 2002) where Man United didn't go into their last competitive game of the season either with a trophy in the bank or with a trophy still to play for.

Spurs haven't had a 0-0 in the league since the 23rd of April 2022 - 135 games ago.

Gareth Bale won more Champions league titles for Real Madrid than the likes of Casillas and Ramos.

This is interesting. The US' potential WC squad would have even more sons of former national players (not just who played for US though):
  • Gio Reyna > Claudio Reyna (former Man City player, former US captain)
  • Tim Weah > George Weah (funnily enough, was President of Liberia when Weah chose US)
  • Johnathan Klinsman > Jurgen Klinsmann
  • Sebastian Berhalter > Gregg Berhalter (also former US coach)
  • Jesús Ferreira (big stretch) > David Ferreira (Colombian national team player)
Could also field three sets of brothers:
  • Timothy (LA Galaxy) and Malik (Bayer Leverkusen) Tillman
  • Brenden (Leeds) and Paxten (Colorado) Aaronson
  • Quinn (Philly) and Cavan (Philly but signed for City; will likely earn a cap next year) Sullivan

In the last 40 years, United have won both Home and Away league fixtures over Arsenal only five times.

Diogo Dalot is closing in on 250 appearances for Manchester United.

91% of those appearances have been as starter

David Beckham scored 85 goals for Man Utd. 14 of them came against either Chelsea or Tottenham (16.4%). Another 10 of them were evenly split versus West Ham and Arsenal. 28% of his goals coming against four London clubs. A cockney red who loved playing against London teams.
