Starts on the bench against Real tonight.
Of course he's back on the bench again. Spent most of his time on the bench during the last loan to Alaves, save for a few games at the end. We send him back to a coach who put him right back there again. Surely there was a better option than this?

Yeah I agree. Surely the point in loaning him out was so he can get big match experience. He could just sit on the bench here quite easily

Hes on the bench because we refused to let him attend their preseason. He was starting games towards the end of his loan so I expect him to get his place back once up to speed with the team again

This manager came in with 9 matches remaining last season and he started 1 of them.

He's on the bench again for Alaves against the Mighty Mallorca.

So, basically he's gonna get 10 minutes here, 16 minutes there, 35 another day, just like he did in every game since the new manager came in for Alaves in April. Why don't we ever do our due diligence? If he didn't start him fully fit and full match-conditioned last season, why did we (as a club) think that a loan move to the same manager was somehow beneficial for him this season? He needs to be starting somewhere.

Think it was also his choice. No one forces you to go to any club

A championship loan would do him a world of good.
Tuanzebe should have gone to a place like Norwich, pointless going to Villa.

We need a rethink about our loan system, seems to me we go for whoever is able to pay the loan fee over anything else.

I was vocal about Tuanzebe loan to Villa being a catastrophe because we accepted Villa offer over Newcastle, as Villa could pay the £5m loan fee and Newcastle couldn't. He's played 2 mins in 2 games so far Tuanzebe, absolutely pitiful whoever sanctioned that move, we've handled his development absolutely shockingly. I just hope we don't go loaning Amad out, I dont trust those sanctioning the moves to get it right.

That’s a general problem of many our players. They are overhyped and thus overestimate themselves, which is also helped by ridiculous wages.

Yeah seems money is the motivator with some of our loans out whereas id argue player development should be key - especially youngsters we’ve invested a lot in. It’s understandable if it’s an older player/deadwood to try and recoup as much money as possible.

Anyway, last rumors I read (tweets) made it seem like our intent is to loan out Amad.

Tbf Tuanzebes loan to Villa in the Championship was a good one. However we ballsed it up when they got promoted, we should've sent him back there as he would've started or even sold him then. The current loan as you say is pointless.

In general our loans to the Championship have been good with the likes of Garner also doing well. It's also benefited a host of Chelsea youngsters. Where we struggle is being more ruthless in moving them on after a successful loan, I think we wanted to give Tuanzebe a run in the first team but it's risky if he doesn't actually get games. We've seen with Chelsea and Tomori and Guehi that a talent like Tuanzebe should be going for about £20m.

The player and his agent have a huge say where players go on loan.

No surprise Tuanzebe chose Villa and Pellistri chose Alaves.

If these players can't get into the team at much smaller clubs like Alaves and Villa then they are probably not united quality, you have to shine and take your chances to make it at an elite club. Most of the time these players that people are moaning about not being loaned to the right clubs end up being sold and having careers at mid table prem or championship clubs, so it is revealed that they just were not united quality. The club that loans a young player from us will never guarantee that he starts every game, those clubs have there own prorities for their season and they won't jeopardise that just to develop a player for us.

The season has just begun! Why are you people tied up in knots over the playing time of our loaned players? Give it some time, and then whine!

All true but if they've not got the ability for us a couple of good loans makes them a very saleable asset.

If Tuanzebe followed up his first season at Villa with a good loan last year how much would he be worth now? £20 million?

That's where a lot of the frustration is with very predictable bad loans like this.

We are bothered about having some income for the club from sales.

Did he not shine and take his chance in this pre-season? He was very good. Goal and assist in a few games. If he was poor, I'd understand it, but he wasn't. We sent a guy who had a very good pre-season with us to a team who was always going to underuse him. Ole talked earlier about securing the right loans for the young players but I can't see evidence that we're got anything remotely resembling a good loan analysis team at Old Trafford. It's baffling loan spells after baffling loan spells.

Got chucked on for about 8 minutes at the end as a last throw of the dice for absolutely hopeless looking 10 man Alaves against Mallorca in a 1-0 loss. Might have gotten one touch.

Hopefully he gets more minutes and Alaves attempt to play a bit more football going forward.

Obviously not playing much is a shame. For me I think the big point though is we should be loaning him to a team here, he should be getting loaned to develop into English football....not SPanish, does that really develop him to be ready comign back here even if he does play regularly?

There was still a belief that he could make it at united which is why he was brought back after a good loan spell at Villa and given his chance to challenge for a first team spot, but he wasn't good enough to get into the team ahead of Lindelof. Sending him out on loan again last season wouldn't have made much sense, when else was he going to get his chance, after we have signed Varane? I understand your point about a good loan increasing his value for a sale, but didn't we just get a £5 million loan fee for him? That's significant amount of money.

Pereira has had good games for us in pre season also, I don't think it means a lot. I think the coaches are concerned that he wouldn't be able to handle the physicality of the championship, which is why sending him on loan to a relegation candidate team in spain makes more sense. I mean if he can't get into a la liga team of that level which spanish team will he get into, unless we send him to a lower division spanish team instead.

Yeah. If Pellistri isn't first choice at Alaves it means he'll be back on loan next year anyways. Tuanzebe it's possible could be kept out by Mings and Konsa's partnership, but his versatility hopefully means some games at fullback or DM too. Ideally they'd be a team that uses 3 at the back at times, but we'll see if that happens. Don't remember Smith doing that as Villa manager though.

Just very dumb loans, a lot of poor decisions by the club, just say it.

Tuanzebe is 23 now if he can't break into the villa team past Mings and konsa what use is he ever gonna be to United.
Doesn't help that he's a bit of a sick note either

Exactly, some people on here want our loaned players to be molly coddled by other clubs. I want them to find it hard and push to earn their game time and not just handed to them on a plate.

I think a full season in the Prem would have been a big deal for him.

There's no way he's becoming first choice for us off the back of one decent season in the Championship.

The reality is that almost nobody will be starting CB for us under 25. They'd have to be incredibly talented. Best to accept that and go get three years brilliant experience elsewhere.

Edit: just realised I'm in Pellistri thread. Sorry bout that.

We are just bad at loans. Our young players only have hype, there have no existing resume of what they have done in mens football and yet we want to send them to top league clubs and expect these clubs to take the gamble that we didn't take. You have to send send them to a lower club to go build up a profile as a good players. Odegaard was sent to Netherlands where he did well and then went to Sociedad where he arrived with a reputation of a good player. He then became one of their best players before he finally went back to Madrid. The difference here is we want to send them straight to Sociedad 1st instead of a lower league to get minutes in men's football.

The uproar in potentially sending Diallo to the championship who has done absolutely feck all in men's football says it all. They rather he go on loan to palace who will bench him as soon as they start fighting relegation.

Totally agree.

Just drop a level and play 40 games. It's simple.

Alaves are bottom of the league and Pellistri can’t get a start.

What a stupid pointless loan. Everyone bar United knew it would be too.Ridiculous decision

United didn't force him to go to Alaves according to reports, he wanted to go there. Club Brugge was probably a better loan for him and they were interested but the player reportedly turned them down.

I have no idea why he went back. When the current manager took over late last season he dropped him to the bench for all but 1 game, I believe. Can't think why he'd go back, unless given some assurances.

Yeah it's strange. He wasn't starting much last season so why would he and United think it'd be different this season.

I've no idea but I remember speaking to someone over PM about it during preseason and we both agreed it was a strange choice to go to a club that was struggling.
