Not sure how you got that I was 'strangely excited' by my post!

I was merely pointing out the fallacy of some of the posts on here when Pellistri was due to be loaned out.

No agendas, motives or ill feelings towards one of our players, just taking heed of the late Roy Walkers words and saying what I see.
Completely off topic but Roy Walker isn't dead! (had to double-check to be fair)

Sancho wasnt on loan to a relegation side. They had a vested interest in developing him and guess what they did
Exactly. They had a "vested interest" to develop him but it took until the 12th game for him to just get a start. In that time Sancho played just 16 minutes of football. Alaves have no particularly need to develop Pellistri and yet after 8 games he has featured in 7 games. That should be an indication that they rate him but your view is that the loan has already failed.

In the summer, most people didn't say he wouldn't be playing. They said he could "do better", or would be better served not playing in a relegation scramble.

The loan made sense to me at the time. He got quite a few starts last year and some early sub appearances towards the end. The idea was that he would be able to cement a starting spot at a high level in his second year.
It didn’t make any sense at the time. As I said at the time.

I even said if he goes back there, we will recall him in January. Won’t be hard to find.

With your logic though, you’d probably get a senior position at United. So there’s a plus for you

Holy cow,

I've been living under a rock for the past two years it seems.

Best dig that signed photo out again and put it back up on the fridge.

Cheers, you've made my day.

He was 17 with no first team football experience. Yet they put him in and by 19 he was starting every game.

Nothing like Pellistri who has first team football experience and is on loan to a club where he didnt play much before and went back again

Dortmund also didnt have the attacking depth we have now so he had much more of a chance to make his mark at his parent club. Pellistri needs to be a standout at Alaves else he might fall even further down the pecking order behind the likes of Chong who is standing out on loan. Thats starts with playing more than 28 mins per game

If he did not play much, how can he have had much first team experience?

I'd better say something about Pellistri. He doesn't strike me as a player ready for the rigours of first team football in a top league, what about another loan to a lower division to get some minutes under his belt?

What are you even talking about?

Pellistri has 42 first team games, Sancho had none when he went to Dortmund and was playing a small amount in the first 12 games at 17 years old.

Pellistri has 42 first team games,
Well first, you should double check your statistics. He has played 37 games for Penerol. But the level of that league is probably not the same as La Liga or PL. Even if you still want to use that data, he is 19 years old. You have unrealistic expectations if you think a typical 19 year old will come straight from South America and start in every game.

You have already deemed the loan to have failed anyway, even though he has featured in nearly all games . The only thing you can use to justify this view is that he has had game time in the Uruguayan league and in your mind, that means he should be a starter. I just find that quite a weak justification.

That sounds like the best idea really, we've seen Ethan Laird for example take strides at a lower level in this country, should be the go to for our younger players.

I haven’t seen much of Pellestri but I predict he’ll have a Zoran Tosic like career. Seems a similar type of player too.

He's clearly not going to be making it at united, Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Amad, Shoretire will all be ahead of him in time. Cheap punt signing that we'll hopefully be able to make a profit on.

I miss when the club was smarter than average joes like me and it makes me sad that they’re so stupid
The season is still young and he might still get more playing time.

Relegation scrap La Liga team is roughly at the same time level as the championship. The difference is he's never played in England and was already acclimatized to Alaves.

Plenty of our domestic loans fail too Didn't Garner stink it up a bit somewhere in the first half of last season before he went to Forest?

I don't know why you were dead certain the loan wouldn't work. he got some starts and a lot of sub appearances in his first year. If he can't make the step up as a starter in his 2nd, maybe he isn't that good. At the end of the day, we're developing him for our first team, so it's worth taking a risk (which a championship loan is as well).

First you should read.

I clearly stated my point about the loan this season. Thus last seasons games for Alaves are also counted as first team games. The choice to go back there on loan came after playing 42 games

The loan isnt going well, your posts are going worse

Not an exaggeration at all, hes been putting in good performances whereas Pellistri can't get a start for a poor la Liga team, thats just how it is!
James has hardly set the world alight at Leeds and is obviously much older and much further in his development, playing regular men's football for like five seasons now. Pellistri has greater promise, no doubt.

As for United recalling... They've let other players sit on the bench for the whole season without doing anything but they will recall a guy after seven games, where he has played in every one of them? I don't believe that.

It was reported that Pellistri himself wanted to go to Spain. Club Brugge was also a option for him but he opted for Spain, probably due to language and culture.

I personally hope we do bring him back and if possible loan him to a club that looks to dominate the ball. He's a good prospect that I believe would thrive under a coach who implements a proactive brand of football.

Most of you said what?
He said it was a bad loan, just phrased as an appeal to the majority.

Using the power of hindsight to make the point our club isn't well run.

I recall most people saying they thought the loan was bad because Alaves are in a relegation scrap, not that they thought he'd do a Donny.

Hindsight is amazing isnt it? I felt he need to go to an english team. He obviously asked for the move.

Seriously stop exaggerating, the 2 games I watched off him he was soo poor. One he got hooked at half time and the other around 60min. How has he been putting in solid performances week in week out?
Now James isn’t our player he’s been exaggerated, the Caf never fails.

No you're describing what's happening now. Almost no one said that prior to it happening.

He’s not very good lads and with the path to the first team being as it is. Was a stupid waste of funds. Hopefully we can recoup that back.

Whilst this isn't the place for discussing James' performances, I think you're incorrect with what your saying.
He's been good for Leeds, especially against Watford. He's had four starts in 5 games since signing.
I'm not exaggerating, merely stating the obvious, and if it makes you feel better I was one of those stating we shouldn't get rid of him.

But anyway, that's all for a different thread.

He is a pretty good 19 year old winger, and he showed glimpses of his quality in pre season. How we fail to develop some of these gifted young players sometimes it's also down to the club and not finding the right loans or creating a plan.

Apologies. He’s not very good for a Manchester United. Maybe he’ll play for a Lazio one day. He’s not making it here though. Unless we really fail to make progress as a club.

You maybe right that’s he’s not that good at 19, but doesn’t meant he won’t be great in a couple of years.
A lot of the great players developed in their early 20s.

If we still had James we would have beaten Villa and Everton, the total failure of our wide players to track back is killing us and that is one thing he does better than anyone we have left at the club.

He played 12 times for Alaves during his last loan. The consensus was from them that they wanted him back, he wanted to go to Spain I imagine because it was easier for him to play in a hispanic country. I said at the time it would be best for him to play in the Championship but obviously the player wanted to return. Hopefully he can go on loan to say Derby or somewhere in Jan.

Ah yes, Dan James on the pitch would've made sure Fred took out Demarai Gray and then made sure Shaw tracked back with Townsend.

I get you. But can we just be realistic. Our wing options consist of about 5 options not to mention future signings. Unless he’s a world better what is his path to the first team? There’s no room in his position to be successful here. I think Elanga has a brighter future in this team.
