Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

Double Forest defense and then Wood. Which pretty much means Wolves will score in first 5 mins and Wood will go back to his 2 ptr.
Yep, Wood, Rogers and Amad are taking it in turn to ruck me up and have a haul left on the bench these last 3 weeks.

My mate got Gibbs White and Elanga in for the differential in my ML. While I have Wood and Aina.

Unbelievable.

Literally mins later Wood scores - and I actually started him. Lovely.

Could do with Forest conceding though, a lot have their defenders now.
Leave the cleany for v Liverpool soon.

Maz dropping in price is just so strange. Do none of these people realise we play Southampton next? Why wouldn’t you keep him for that fixture and then drop? Think I’ll just keep him at this stage as there’s one or two more important moves to focus on.

65 all out which seems to be about the average or just below.

More importantly Watkins to Isak and finally have a squad I'm pretty happy with for once...

Verbruggen Fabianski
Kerkez Robinson Hall Milenkovic Greaves
Salah Palmer Amad Rogers Enzo
Haaland Isak Jesus

£0.5m in the bank. Should've been £1.5m and a shit load more points if I'd got on Isak when his run started but there ya go. Absolutely not fussed about premium defenders this season as all the ones I have at the moment are keeping pace and hauling every 3 weeks or so.

The tinkering will be around that 5th midfielder 3rd striker spot currently occupied by Enzo and Jesus. Will probably try and get Wood/Wissa in the striker spot soon enough and keep an eye on the likes of Elanga and Murphy if they keep returning well.

Also happy to keep Haaland as a genuine differential over the next few weeks at least. If I decide to shift him then that would potentially be a wildcard around the rescheduled Liverpool v Everton fixture where I can load up on Liverpool, get a couple of cheap Everton bums (Pickford, Mykolenko) and redistribute the funds correctly on the likes of Mbeumo.

57 and done, so not the best week but we go again. Early transfer done - finally managed to ship Lewis for Konate

Worst week so far. At least I was expecting it, and in fairness I know people who've had worse weeks so I probably shouldn't complain too much. I still want to fire 10 of my players out of a canon and I've now got about 100 points to make up in my ML, but it could have been worse.

I was going to bring Rogers in for Semenyo but wondering if bringing Amad back in might be the way to go now.

He's cheaper, gas close enough to the same points in a lot less minutes and United have a decent run of fixtures now.

When did he fall in price? Saturday night/Sunday morning makes a little more sense I suppose if people transferred him out ahead of the deadline on Saturday. People scared of him going to Anfield.

If it was after that then it seems shortsighted. Even if it was Saturday night, people could always have decided to bench him for Anfield, knowing that Southampton was after that.
Would think he'd be a rotation option at his price point anyway, and that benching him for certain games would come with the territory.

Beginning to have massive doubts over the Semenyo > Mbeumo transfer I made.

His fixtures don't scare me as such, and I'm glad I got in there before a price rise. It's more that I'm thinking of bringing in Bruno now as a 5th midfielder and going with 5 quality loking midfielders that I want to start every week. While Mbeumo's fixtures don't bother me too much, Bruno's seem better for the next 3 weeks or so and I'm thinking I should have priortised him if that's how I wanted to end up.

This Southampton game looking very tasty for United assets in particular.

The other thing is this from fotmob for Mbeumo:

The overperformance when it comes to goals scored vs xG is one thing, a player can be deadly at finishing and you can ride that wave. Perhaps a little concerning that it may stop at any point though.

Scored about 3.5 over xGOT too, which suggest goalies are randonly chucking a few in when he shoots as well. That could very much stop too. He's definitely been more clinical than you'd expect, but he's had some help there.

Just keep it going Bryan!

I reckon mbeumo can score against anyone in this sort of form whereas we look like we can get a result against Liverpool one week and get twatted by wolves the next

I transferred Maz out on Saturday for Milenkovic. No regrets. He's only scored over 5 points in 4 out of 20 games and isn't even on the first page for defenders any more. Absolute garbage FPL asset.

Having no Haaland makes the game so much more interesting and gives so many more options. You can have so many luxury players in your team when you don’t have Haaland. It gives a headache here and there because you usually end up with too many good players and don’t know who to start and who to bench, sometimes a nice headache to have though.

I like Bruno and had him until recently but just don’t like going in on United players as it’s double heartache when we play shit. It’s tough at the moment if you have Palmer and Salah as you have to start both every single week. Mbeumo and Gordon are killing it. Rogers is so cheap that he opens up room elsewhere to spend money so is great to have. Same with Amad currently. Some really good options right now for the people without Haaland!

Oh can’t argue with this at all but just seems so strange to do it right before the Douthampton game. He will go for me eventually but right now with Southampton next it seems pointless fkr me
To drop him.

Yeah you gotta keep your United players for the next game.

Absolutely, so many ways of going!

I think a Salah, Palmer, Bruno, Mbeumo, Gordon midfield would potentially be great which is what I was looking at, as are lots of other ways. Got Rogers now, but I'm looking at my strikers with a bit of suspicion. Jackson in particular has gone off the boil, and I don't totally trust Solanke yet. Isak is fine. With some other strikers doing well just recently at cheaper price points I thought that could be a way to go. Isak + 1 and that stacked looking midfield.

By the time I get enough FTs to do all that Jackson might be firing again. Fixtures look decent enough for him in the immediate future so who knows.

Keeping cheaper midfield options in there very viable too like you say. Rogers, Amad or both. Could maybe open things up to spend more on defence or goalie although it's been difficult to find relibaility at the back so far. At least for me, who has for some reason steered clear of Forest.

The GW had already closed so anyone getting rid Maz Sat night would have been taking him out for Southampton which does seem strange. Although he's not been getting many points lately.

Both Bournemouth strikers out long term now. Evanilson with a broken metatarsal and Unal is out for the season with an ACL. Not sure what this means for their attack. Probably have to go and buy/loan someone this month.

Pondering wildcarding from this:

Muric
TAA - Gabriel - Robinson
Salah - Palmer - Odegaard - Sarr
Isak - Wood - Watkins

Fabianksi, Greaves, Van den Berg, Rogers

To something like this:

Pickford
Konate - Gabriel - Hall
Salah - Amad - Palmer - Bruno - Gordon
Isak - Pedro

Sa, Munoz, Milenkovic, Wood
Which would give me 15 starters for the first time this season and hopefully fewer blanks week to week and £1m in the bank. Worth doing or too early to be playing it this season?

Pedro might be injured.

Would also give you some crazy benching pains as well I'd guess. I don't think that squad needs a wildcard personally as the spine of it is fine. You can just transition slowly into the squad you want starting maybe with Odegaard to Gordon/Bruno/Amad. I said it before but I think Rogers is a season keeper as well. Best of the £5m ish mids for me.

I’ve finally done it.. finally got rid of Haaland!

Used my wildcard:

Henderson (Fabianski)
Gabriel, Hall, Kerkez, Robinson, Aina
Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, Rogers, Amad
Isak, Wood, Jesus.

I have 1.6 left in the bank - will probably change Jesus after a few weeks. Might also change one of my defenders back to Konate.

Dibling + Jackson -> Bruno + 4,5 forward

or

Sit tight?

The overperformance to xG has been unsustainable this season.
Especially considering how he's normally performed:

21/22: 4 goals from 9,81 xG
22/23: 9 goals from 10,10 xG
23/24: 9 goals from 9,16 xG

Has never outperformed his xG over a full season in his career.
He's not shooting much (1,75 shots/90) and his not getting many big chances (5 +0,25xG chances and none bigger than 0,44xG except from the 3 pens). Somehow he's scored 6 worldies (>0,1xG) already this season (he had two in the prem before this season total). Even with the pens he's 52nd in the league when it comes to xG/90 (0,32) for players with more than 500 minutes. 79th for non penalty xG (0,21).

I just can't see how it's sustainable. His fixtures are bad for the rest of the season too. They had both fixtures vs. Southampton, the remaining games vs Leicester, Ipswich and Wolves are all away and spread out and the next two are City and Liverpool. So on paper, at that price, he should be as far from a good pick as you can come.

Have you seen City defensively this year? Mbeumo will have a field day against them.

Not saying none of this is true but I think these stats are starting to really make people overthink things. Brentford attack quite well and he’s basically the main star in that team. He won’t fall off of a cliff imo.

Also, my rival has him and that guy does black magic.

Don't be surprised if he blanks in the next 5 either. He has that in him. Like when he had 1 shot total from GW10 - 14.

I can’t rule it out but it’s unlikely. He’s blanked in three in a row at most this season. Palmer has blanked in 3 in a row. In fact I think almost everybody other than Salah has and you could say the same about them. Brentford score a good amount of goals in fact I believe they’re top 5 for that and he’s the star man in that team. It’s away that they’ve struggled but city and Liverpool in the next two are both at home. Spurs at home too. I would be surprised if he blanks for five straight but obviously it’s not impossible. He will be staying in my team probably for the rest of the season at this stage unless something crazy happens.

It’s also hard to ignore he’s the third best scoring midfielder in this game and by a bit of a distance. And costs 7.7 million. 20 bonus points the third highest of any midfielder. I think it’s important to look at the proper numbers sometimes.
