It’s not a completely crazy idea. Maresca did his best to dull Chelsea attack and basically all their attackers looked a lot worse for it.
It all depends on alternative captaincy and where the money is spent. Week 3 will be an awful watch though.

I've dropped expensive goalscorers before and I can tell you it sucks! They will score and every single time they score you'll regret it. And what's worse, an odd 80% of the community will stretch ahead. And most will be captaining him. One simply cannot afford iti dont think that tips it away from a 4.5m defcon defender though, when you compare the other options.

Think I'm going to go without Haaland at the start while leaving an easy path to get him back by gw3 against Coventry if I really think he's needed. Tbf I probably wouldn't do that if I wasn't using bench boost, but I hate that chip and just want rid of it gw1. I see quite a lot of good potential for that chip in gw1 without Haaland but with him it's pretty close to useless and I just don't trust Coventry to keep a clean sheet in gw2 which was pretty much the only alternative use of bb that I could see.
Munoz hasn’t played much recently and has been linked away, that and bad fixtures would be enough for me to push him down to a 5.0. I would also go Aina or Robinson and go down to a 4.0 that will play (anyone from Ipswich or Coventry (think Amenda looks good)).
Those two changes would give you a million and then Damsgaard can become a Sarr, Rayan, Anderson etc…. (Or your choice of 6,0 and then make Hughes someone like Norgaard to have a decent bench option)
People will correct it to the template but I think there are some nice differential picks there.

I think it’s worth taking a bit of time to look at the cheap options if you are going Bruno and Haaland. Munoz might be great, but I think the midfield needs a bit of a boost!
You could go Sangare over Damsgaard too, he looked fantastic today and could be a defcon machine!
Depending on who starts in the Arsenal City game tomorrow i could be taking Haaland out of the team and playing BB GW1 and WC GW3. Too many ifs and buts still, ie Foden Haaland etc.
Guaranteed though tomorrow everyone will get 45 minutes and it'll be impossible to tell.

I think 45 is more than enough to suggest he is fit to start, and then there is no point wasting chips and transfers to get him in.
I think the only doubtful scenario is if he doesn’t come on at all.

Chelsea's ability to score and create got noticeably worse after the first few months. Jackson and Palmer were playing well then both had a big drop off, Madueke a smaller one. Leicester fans though they were ponderous under him, not decisive enough.

Yeah, I think Maresca will blunt him like he does with everyone else. The question is, how long will it take?
I think the pricing is going to look ridiculous very soon. Everyone is way too cheap and if Haaland is out; it’s way too easy to just throw everyone in.
João Pedro should have been 8,5, these Arsenal players 7,5, all defenders above 6,0 etc…
Hopefully he can keep it going it going until a just before wildcard 2 becomes available, would certainly make FPL decisions easier.
He could still be top scorer in the league but if there's a cluster of players close to him then the pricing might trigger moves away from him. Let's see. Either expecting that sort of thing or a rip-roaring success, Haaland's first 30 goal league campaign since his first season at City.

I’m feeling absolutely fine at going for a team without Haaland. Laugh all you want but Maresca is no Guardiola and it won’t be BAU season at City this season.
I think this could become more popular now too during the week. People will fancy having Gabriel after this.

If i make a change in my team it will be for Odegaard. Playing no10, goal threat, on set pieces and maybe on pens (who knows who is pen taker there anymore).
Hmm, felt like I was pretty much the only one going without Haaland before this match. Feels like a lot more are going to jump on that strategy now. Not sure how to feel about it
Having sold Trossard, Tzolis seems nailed on, right? Arsenal's alternative is Martinelli who they're trying to sell.
Other than Martinelli I suppose Eze can kind of take his place in the team semi-out of position? Considering Eze hasn't played much in pre-season and Tzolis has been very productive so far I'd have to imagine Tzolis at least starts the first couple of games with Martinelli/Eze coming on as early-ish subs? Very enticing at 6.5m.
Hes fine for GW1 but I imagine Eze eats into his minutes quite quickly. Before long my guess is youl have 6.5m on a player maybe giving 60 mins?

I've never had Schade in my team but, having seen my rival bring him in last season only for him blank for consecutive gameweeks and then get sent off and banned for 3 games, my instinct is to stick with the starting LW for the champions for only £0.5m more.
