Currently looking a lot at Hume as he’s out of position and has a great gw1 opponent for just 4.5, but he might not be nailed long term and isn’t great for defcons


Mbeumo’s data versus price is just a great cover imo. Plus he’s started out pre season well. 12 m I feel is quite steep for Bruno, when you can get an alternative route to double digits/captaincy with Mbeumo.

I am currently also considering how to get Isak (9.0) in instead of Richarlison/a 6.0 fw he just has so much potential and great fixtures.

But for me it requires a great set and forget 6.0 asset in midfield and I already got Le Fee and Gross

Ballard has great defcon numbers and a high Xg for a CB, he could be the one short term.

I am playing around with just throwing Muharemovic from the start. I would rather have a rougher BB and get it done and TRY and save transfers (and never do it :lol:)

Any indication that Vuskovic will start, and he is in too. The defcon stats and Xg is too good to ignore, even in Bundesliga.

Ajer could be a bargain too. His defensive partner is 5,5 because of last season and they will be playing on the same direct team and he has great numbers when he plays. Van der Berg out for 2-3 months.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but that team is VERY similar to mine so you're fecked :lol:

The GK, midfield and forward line are identical except I have Wirtz over Szoboslai.

Or, we are both kicking ass this year. From my experience, FPL works in a way - one good year, bad year, average year, good year.....

I have: 18k, 2mil, 180k.......time for 10k

The thing is, it is template. My starting 11 is almost identical I have Calafiori instead of Mosquera at the moment but could switch to Mosquera after the Charity Shield. The only real difference is I have Gvardiol you have Vuskovic who is on my watch list.

My team is similar except for a few differentials, but i finished top 10k last year so what do i know :smirk:

Chelsea sign so many players it's hard to keep up.

Think whatisface (shall we just call him Pallister?) is a right back, new fella left back, but then Barco could feasibly play LB and so could Myles-Skelly who they're being linked with.

Really wonder about dropping DCL for the Ipswich 4.5 Striker who might start for Bench Boost GW1. It would give me the required funds to go for Defcon Defenders.

Or do you guys think DCL is more important then Defcon defenders and I should downgrade Muharemovic, Maguire and Ballard to Rodon, Shaw and Hume and just go with DCL upfront?
 
Like most, I had DCL in my initial squad.

But once I started to plan ahead, I found I was rarely picking him at all so decided to pick someone for the same amount that I would actually start with on occasions.

I know he has 3 home fixtures in the first 5, but I'd rather Sunderland's fixtures in the opening 2 and Brighton's fixtures in 3 & 4.

I’m leaning towards Bruno in now. Started without him and had Mbeumo but think I’ll end up going Bruno.

It’s too much to ignore the fact he’s on corners, every free kick, penalties and will start the season further up the field than last season while also having better support behind him. The other issue is if Bruno starts like a house on fire then it’s very difficult to move up to him at his price and if he also rises in price. Much easier to start with him and move down if you need to when the fixtures turn a bit.

Just seems too many potential positives to go without him.

It's for humble braggers but that poster is a repeat offender so I need to take precautionary actions.
 
The love on for dcl is understandable given the price but I'd rather have a non player and use the difference elsewhere. I really don't think I'd end up starting him enough

I'm more tempted to go for Richarlison but that could obviously change by the deadline.

Do you have a free way to plan picks for future GWs? I used to have a spreadsheet someone had put together for this but don’t have one for this season. Staying away from any AI sites so can’t use their tools
 
Haaland only back in training today. If he doesn’t appear in the Charity Shield, I wonder if people will be ripping up their drafts.

A possible bench appearance at home to Bournemouth would be a bit of a disaster.

I'm going with that Ipswich number ten that may/may not play for 4.5 and using the money elsewhere. Not sure three functional forwards is that necessary this time around

I don’t think so either, but it does make me wonder about his captaincy, which I was so sure about. Hopefully he gets 70 minutes against arsenal and it’s no issue.

I just use the humble spreadsheet, its nothing fancy.

I just put my GW1 squad in with 3 columns, purchase price, selling price and current price, this is just to reconcile my squad value so I know its correct.

I basically just highlight my starting 11 for the game week.

I copy and paste my squad etc for say 6 future game weeks and going by fixtures, I look at the players ive not highlighted and see where i can make transfers if required.

Its all very very basic.

I do not use any tools or AI stuff, just like to keep things simple.
 
The FPL YouTube mafia are spreading. I was listening to my usual Not The Top 20 Podcast and heard an advert for Let's Talk FPL on there as well as Fantasy Football Scout. They'll soon be on Sky Sports and TNT I reckon. Can't stand the lot of them.

Cheers, that’s similar to how the spreadsheet I’d had previously worked, but it had a look of formulas in to calculate transfers, also had FDR in for each week to help plan sub/transfers. I’ll knock something up, like you, I’m staying well away from all the AI/tools/idiots again this year

Under the 15 players I have a opening and closing bank figure for the week.

Under that I have my transfers in and transfers out column, so i just put players and values in and it auto calculates by bank value going into the next game week.

Under that .. I might have a list of players who i might bring in or take out depending on the FDR.

I'm sure the paid tools out there are more convenient and shows things like estimated points and team rating etc but I dont need to pay for all that stuff.

Show me a good couple of fixtures and I will show you a good transfer :)

Its a very basic spreadsheet but it works for what I need, quite happy to send you a copy if you need it.

He is now! Got added at some point in time since last night. 5.5m.

Why wasn't he? He had work permit issues and wasn't eligible to play until a few days ago when it was all ironed out. That, and sometimes FPL overlook young players, thinking they won't be in the first team picture.

Liverpool have a young central defender with similar work permit problems, he's played in some of their friendlies but cannot play in competitive matches currently. Ifeayani Ndukwe.

Edit: Just reading more on the Madjo work-permit thing. You can't move to play in another country if you're under 18 these days and he's 17. Madjo was actually born in England, not sure what passports/nationality he holds, but he's also played international football for Luxembourg, grew up there and was in the Metz academy in France. FIFA were saying he's therefore Luxembourgish, Villa were saying he's English due to birthplace so it should be ok for him to play under the age of 18, that he's not really from another country. Villa won an appeal at the court for arbitration of sports.

The lad at Liverpool, I think it's more to do with not having enough club or international appearances (or youth international ones) for a country that's regarded as good enough to automatically qualify for a work permit. Something like that. You get points for all that and have to pass a certain threshold. He's Austrian so would have qualified automatically pre-Brexit as an EU citizen, but now the whole world goes by the same ruleset. I think the qualifying criteria was actually loosened a little compared to what it was for South Americans, Asians, Africans etc. but now Europeans have to abide by those same rules instead of getting an automatic 'yes' and he hasn't made it yet.
