Fantasy Premier League 25/26

Yes but their defense is now shit with so many players gone. Might as well go for one of the promoted teams 4.0 options. There is still ambiguity there.
They are buying Diakete and are flush with cash. My advice. Don’t punt on what’s left except maybe Senesi and their new FB called Truffert. They should have plenty in the coffers and may be buying well up to deadline day.

In fact, this applies to Brighton (if Baleba goes to United) and they already have cash, Bournemouth, Brentford (especially if Wissa goes which it looks like he might), Newcastle when Isak almost inevitably goes, and Palace if Guehi and/or Eze goes. Those teams are going to be swimming in cash until deadline day. I would be very cautious on betting my GW 1 teams on low cost, non-nailed options from any of those teams.

We could see Guehi go to Chelsea since Colwill is injured as well as Garnacho, Isak to ‘Pool, Wissa and Jackson to Newcastle, Baleba to United, and Eze to Arsenal next week. Unlikely, yes, but not totally out of the realm of possibility.

First time playing and getting my head around the scoring system and transfers. What do you guys think about my team?

GK: Sanchez (Dubravka)
DEF: Virgil, Alt Nouri, Pedro Porro, Wan-Bissaka (Konsa)
MID: Bruno, Wirtz, Salah(C), Cherki (A. Ramsey)
ST: Watkins, Bowen (Guiu)

Georginio Rutter up front again for Brighton in their friendly v Wolfsburg. Once again Welbeck in the B team friendly, this time behind closed doors.

Hmmmm.

Not saying buy Rutter, might be a case of avoiding both until we see how they're going to line up in the league.
Welbeck has scored 4 goals and played his share of minutes, Rutter hasn't scored in preseason despite playing the most minutes on the team. Maybe they were just giving Welbeck a rest.

I think up it's in the air as to who starts.

Welbeck did score 4, all 4 goals coming against Wycombe in their first friendly in the middle of July after he came on at half time.

Rutter scored yesterday v Wolfsburg.

It's the recent games that makes me doubt things.

Friendly 2 against Stoke Welbeck started (played a strong starting lineup), Rutter on at half time.
Friendly 3 against Las Palmas the same.
Friendly 4 against Coventry, 63 minutes for Rutter up front, no Welbeck.
Friendly 5 against Southampton - Rutter up front with the main squad (79 mins) and all the regular starters that were available, Welbeck playing in a 60 minute friendly with the squad players vs Southampton B.
Friendly 6 against Wolfsburg = same as friendly 5 but a 90 minute match vs Wolfsburg B for Welbeck at the training ground (played 85), Rutter 84 mins and a goal with the stronger-looking side at the Amex.

Could mean something could not, but it's noticeable Welbeck's been playing with what looks like the squad players in the final 2 friendlies after not featuring in the one before that.

Would be cautious over Welbeck unless we hear from Hurzeler that he's starting personally. Would like to think the press are curious enough to ask all things considered.

How do you actually join the league? Does anyone know the code to join?

Hurzeler himself gave no hints, even said "they can both play together" which makes things even worse imo. Was going to start with Welbeck, but the uncertainty made me move away from him and to Fullkrug.

This was his quote about the two:

“No, it is not a decision between him and Danny. They played last season together. [Georginio] is always an option. He is very playable in this position.” – Fabian Hurzeler on Georginio Rutter + Danny Welbeck,

Has Mitoma been playing pre season and is Verbruggen their starting keeper again?

Yes and yes. Mitoma actually had a couple of opportunities to score yesterday. Could also go for Minteh or Georginio Rutter who are 0.5 less, Minteh more secure(well at least for GW1).

Was thinking a fit Mitoma would be a nice addition but worried how much they rotate.

Toying around with something like ths right now for GW1:

Raya
Frimpong, Tarkowski, Matheus N, Chalobah
Salah, Palmer, Gakpo, Minteh
Watkins, Fullkrug

Dubravka, Sarr, Rodon, Guiu

Defenders very open to change, tons of contenders, but can't see myself going with any Arsenal at the start other than Raya in goal, and I might even be tempted to drop down to a 5.0 there.

Liking the 4-5-1 setup even though I'd probably actually play 4-4-2 in GW1. Think I need a 9m forward in there so that there'd be plenty of space to manouvre. Every FWD bar Haaland and Isak then reachable even if part of me wants to build around a price as low as 7.0 -8.0 for the main man (Bowen, Pedro, Solanke, Wissa, Wood, Mateta, Strand-Larsen, Evanilson and maybe Sesko when we learn his price).

Fullkrug important at the 6m mark as I could then hit Thiago and Barry if they end up being starters as well as Beto, Muniz and Piroe. Got to keep those doors open.

Minteh and Sarr not that sexy but could always sell off Palmer at some point to beef them up a little.

Red Cafe League Code
Red Cafe 25/26 League Code: mcjm84

Just got forwarded that now.

Took a huge risk cuz the muppet in me couldn’t help myself and came up with a team name that includes Baleba (youknowyorobaleba2) :smirk:

Really hope we get him in!

Anyways here’s my first draft..
Sanchez (Darlow)
Frimpong, VDV, Dorgu (Reinildo, Hoever)
Palmer, Wirtz, Marmoush, Cunha, Minteh
Bowen, Haaland (Guiu)

Just not sure if I go with Frimpong or VVD.. does anyone know if Frimpong is as offensive as TAA used to be?

Just signed a 40m cb yesterday too, moving Hill down the pecking order

Everyone and their mothers have Joao Pedro. I think I will pass.
Rogers picked up an injury, but I will keep him for now.

I’ve taken Isak out as one of my front 3 due to the shenanigans going on there, have replaced with Etikike as an interim measure and - in all likelihood - will bring in Sesko from GW2 in place of Etikike.

Yeah just as attacking although he is more effective as wing back. Having said that he scored against CP today.

Interesting half at Wembley. Early days, friendly match etc but a) Ekitike looks like he'll be a real threat and b) they're not looking for Mo nearly as often as usual.

Any idea on how much Sesko would be?

Also think one of Mbeumo and Cunha is a great shout as both £8m but not sure who best to go for. Mbeumo I feel will be the real threat with Cunha dropping in a little more

Im not so sure about how the Salah pick. He has so many options around him, which he has never done in unison before so I feel that takes away his dominance over this attack.

Edit: missed an important penalty as well.

Ya after watching this I’m staying away from salah for a while. Ekitke looks sharp however

Salah at 14.5 is not looking like such a good pick now..

They have several other threats not everything is going through Salah

Guys don't do it to yourselves.

Salah IMO is a must. Having more players around him will only make him more dangerous. He's probably the most sure fire pick in the entire game even at that price. Too many early question marks about other players, take the safe option in Salah early and see how others get on in the first few weeks. The only reason not to have Salah is if you have Haaland instead.

But that is a question in itself surely. It is easier to predict who will play for Liverpool at the moment than who will play for City.

Palace are ready too. Their preseason coupled with this result is as close to proof as you can get that they are hitting the ground running with assets that you can be sure will play.

I had Salah marked down as captain for week 1. I'm now rethinking whether I shouldn't be dropping him altogether and rather strengthening 2 other positions instead. Apart from making knee-jerk decisions based on a glorified friendly, the only other reason I'm keeping him in is that I convinced myself at the start of last season that he was on the decline and got badly burnt in those first few weeks for not picking him.

My Welbeck and Solanke picks don't seem very good at the moment, with neither predicted to start next week. Now people are doubting Salah, might have start over from the beginning the next few days.

Looking at that Liverpool side i dont see much point in having Virgil at the minute - they look like they’ll be wide open and just try and out score opponents.

Still not decided who to pick between Wood, Pedro, Mateta

Looks like a classic FPL trap to ditch Salah off of a poor CS performance and then him racking up a hattrick on opening night next week.

Was he that poor? Would enable so many other options if I were to drop him, but can’t stomach it yet at the moment. Sounds like Ekitike might be worth a punt? Easy switch to Watkins and others as well should Isak join.

The thing with Salah was he tailed off quite badly towards the end of last season. Don't fancy Haaland at his price, but also wary of having no Salah.

Hard decisions

Salah is a must for GW1, luckily for me I'm FH2 so don't need to worry about him then and will consider if he's a keep in GW3/4 when I WC.

Swapping things around again:

Kelleher
Frimpong can Dijk Gabriel
Palmer Kudos Mbeumo Salah
Pedro Beto Mateta

Thoughts?

Hard decisions
Some difficult decision indeed. I'm leaning towards having both from the start so I can pivot out of one or both in case they aren't worth their prices. Risk losing half a mil or so but it would be so difficult to get one or both in if they are up to their usual business.

Dubravka (Eyestone)
Dorgu VDV Tosin (Esteve, Gudmundsson)
Salah Palmer Wirtz Gakpo Malen
Haaland Beto (Guiu)

Gakpo only a placeholder until I figure out who I want in that pricepoint and overall very, very mid/top heavy. Can't imagine going with a cheaper defense than this which is obviously a risk, so will probably tinker before the deadline.

I don’t mind the United punt. I hate seeing team rating influencers changing every team to be the same. I have been out off Beto though, it very much looks like best case scenario is a minutes share with Barry. We can’t trust him as a starter now. I would trim the defence to upgrade him or go 3-5-2 and choose your pick of 5,5 mil there (Anderson, Arias etc…)

Think I’ve finally settled with my team. Will wait to see how much Sesko is

Raya
Dorgu - Kerkez - Gvardiol
I.Sarr - Palmer - Cunha - Wirtz - Malen
Haaland - Pedro

Sarr’s point count last year was great and think Palace will be very strong this year, so chose him over similarly rated players like Mitoma

Malen a bit of a gamble for minutes but at 5.5m think he could be a surprise.

Am I mental going Haaland and Salah?

Cant make my mind up

And do people tend to have a squad of decent players…or dross on the bench and better constant first 11
