Fantasy Premier League 26/27

Just picked my provisional team

GKs
Trafford (moving to Leeds)
Kinksy (Spurs)

DEFs
Munoz (Palace)
Gabriel (Arsenal)
Lacroix (Chelsea)
Truffert (Bournemouth)
Hall (Newcastle)

MIDs
Bruno (MUFC)
Gibbs White (Notts F)
Semenyo (City)
Geldhart (Leeds)
Sarr (Palace)

FORs
Sesko (MUFC)
Thiago (Brentford)
Wright (Cov)

Pretty happy with the balance - no guarantees really. No doubt will need revising. Hoping Geldhart goes back to Hull
Good luck

I was thinking this. I did early BB last season and it made a lot of sense.

This season however I am less sure. Perhaps we find value picks with a lot of change as season progresses to easily field a BB squad with quality.

For example post GW4 we may transfer Bruno out and free up a lot more money.

Im still a bit torn but puttting conviction on Coventry is a bit punty. Hull may surprise us.
Hull conceded the 4th highest amount of goals in the Championship last season, I wouldn’t be going anywhere near their defence in FPL

i'm not referring to Hull's ability to keep a clean sheet. Rather about Coventry not conceeding anything vs Hull.

A lot of BB GW 2 teams have double coventry defence.

5 mil for Leeds gk is waste of money. Also, Thiago is a big call for 8 mil.

Thiago who got 22 goals last season? I’d rather take him than Isak at £9. Perhaps Gyokeres. I’m backing Sesko to get 16+ goals

Also, disagree on Trafford. He’s a shot stopper, and Leeds will do well. The better keepers for FPL are at teams like Everton, Palace, Burnley over the years

Finally got around to starting this. Damn, going for Bruno and Haaland is super tough.

Just made my first proper draft:

Kinsky
Gvardiol, Califiori, Mosquera
Foden, Bruno, Szoboslai, Le Fee
Haaland, Pedro, DCL

Subs: Dubs, Gomez, Canvot, Thomas

The bolded players are locks.

A bit unsure Kinsky, Califiori and Le Fee (wanted Ndiaye but looks like he's leaving).

Every year I start with one YOLO pick, this year it's Foden. Expect him to be useless and one that I look back at after the season's finished and thinking "wtf was I doing?".

FFS. I have Foden in my team. We all know what happens when you bring a player into your team Dirty! Haha.

Also for 5.5-6m I think we have like 3 solid options - Barnes, Grob and Le Fee. Sunderland first 3 fixtures are good. But then it’s switches to easy for Newcastle. Just not sure Sunderland can replicate the form from last year.

I will repeat question - all of you who are doing BB in first few gameweeks, do you have two playing gks?

Im thinking BB Gw1 and currently have Lammens and Kinsky.

Problem with my team is post BB il have a lot of money spread around. I suppose thats OK as I dont really plan to make transfers for 3 gameweeks.

So he’s like an Anderson last year?

More like Anton Stach for me, but with the odd penalty thrown in.

Same price as Stach, both got 5 goals and 6 assists last season.

Le Fee
147 points
2930 minutes
319 defensive contributions (9.80 per 90)

Stach
137 points
2369 minutes
266 defensive contributions (10.11 per 90)

Stach outdoing him for points per game, even though Sunderland picked up more clean sheets than Leeds, 11 vs 8. Only 1 point difference for each one for midfielders, but it all helps.

Le Fee with better underlying numbers. Stach overperforming a little bit, Le Fee getting about what he "should have" based on xG/xA.

Le Fee did seem to be growing as a player though and really looked quality in the 10 rather than out wide.

My issue with him is that Sunderland were poor for a while at the back end of the season and they don’t score many goals.

Thanks for the data, Le Fee sounds like an option if you have a rotation partner, or if he turns out to be stable

I want to try a mix this year of a full squad of 15 who could be the next defcon defenders (rather than spending big on the proven ones), and the midfield players on a dip who could be underpriced because of that.

It’s risky, but I like the idea of catching players coming up and having a squad packed with potential value. In theory, it should enable nice fixtures across the first 3-4 games and a good bench boost.

Someone could “pop off”, but you could well have picked the wrong player anyway and am pretty sure I will captain Haaland every week for the first 3 given how he starts seasons.

First draft, wanted to do away with Haaland and Bruno (it backfired last season and played my wildcard early on) and instead build a solid squad throughout and mostly leave it alone/let it cook.

Donnarumma, Petrovic
Mosquera, Guehi, Kerkez, Shaw, Mitchell
Rogers, Szoboszlai, Semenyo, Mbeumo, Gibbs-White
Isak, Pedro, Gyokeres

Wanted to have Kroupi until he got injured. May swap Cunha in for Mbeumo, Thiago for Gyokeres.

Still have £1.0 in the bank- could spend another £0.5 on Verbruggen and/or use it to upgrade defenders.

Thoughts welcome.
It’s a very good squad.

But i fall in to this trap most seasons.

The gw you start Mosquera, Guehi, Kerkez, it’ll be Shaw & Mitchell that get 15 pts

Gibbs White can just as well score a brace against Arsenal away, than Roger’s might vs Ipswich at home

Just gets too much of a ball ache second guessing and cursing the 20+ pts on the bench

so I’ve committed to having a (hopefully) stronger 11 with 4.5s on the bench this time around

Yup, I am heeding the advice this time around. I started with the premise a strong bench would be key for the auto subbing, but the chances of that happening are slim as most players get featured anyway.

I made some changes, as follow:

Verbruggen, Petrovic
Mosquera, Ruben, Shaw, Kerkez, Mitchell
Rogers, Szoboszlai, Semenyo, Rice, Fernandes (Spurs)
Haaland, Pedro, Calvert-Lewin

No Brighton forward costing more than 5.5 after Welbeck left is sort of interesting if someone can nail down a spot and if they don't bring someone in.

Georginio re-classified as one at the same time. Not sure who starts out of him and Kostoulas, maybe even both. Tzimas still lurking too. Kostoulas has started both pre-season matches so far, the first one with Welbeck.

Don't necessarily expect anyone to be amazing, more that if you've got a regular starter playing for a decent team like them then it can't be too bad. Potentially some value. Only Beto and Barry at Everton with their most expensive forwards at the same price or lower when you move away from the non-promoted teams and Brighton score more goals than them as a rule.

Most Brighton talk I've seen so far was about Pascal Gross becuase he looks like he's on pens.

BB in the first week is an interesting option and fairly valid now you get 2 of them.

However, it's a risk and you can't be certain all 15 will start. And you'd have to aim for 2 playing keepers or you're immediately reducing your points potential..

For a bit of fun I've decided to go without Halaand this season.

Not done my team yet but i'm pretty sure i can have a decent squad without him.

Not sure how many of you do the FanTeam version but I will definately have him on there.

Last year i had absolutely awful BB weeks. 3 points (yes, 3x1 and zero from the bench) must be some kind of all time record.

I am doing it in gw1 this year. No waiting with that shit. I have Verbruggen and Kinsky for first week.

Does Fernandes (Spurs) get the def con points and are we predicting similar at Spurs?

Who are you thinking for these next defcon defenders? Interesting approach. Not sure who they're going to be, suppose I'd be looking at these sort of things:

Someone a bit like Alderete of last season from a newly promoted team?

"Replacement players" slotting in for those departed? Not sure who is going to start at the back for Bournemouth after defcon monster Senesi left without looking further, I know they signed Silva. Palace without Lacroix and going back a bit further Guehi? Might struggle but at the same time the new manager likes the same 3 CB system. Riad at 4.5 if he starts?

Vuskovic moving to Brighton as Van Hecke went the other way? Big lad with good equivalent defcon numbers in the Bundesliga last season. 9.25 clearances, 0.96 blocks, 1.47 interceptions and 0.81 tackles per 90 = 12.50 per 90.

Got a feeling that Forest defenders could be back to an extent with defcons and better scores in general than last season. Glasner moving from Palace and Palace had the players I've already mentioned who were decent at getting them, his system is solid for defenders in general then there's how good Forest defenders were a couple of seasons ago. Going to miss Anderson protecting them, but might actually mean even more defcons.

Someone like Ajer from Brentford?

Completely different? Maybe you're shopping at better teams

You have covered a lot of them here! I think Vuskovic could be great for them, even in a more possession based team. Muharemovic averaged over 12 last season and over 17 at the WC. I think he will be a great pick up too.

Forest are also a team that I am looking at and I think Glasner will improve them. At the moment, Jair Cunha is playing at the back for them. If he stays there, he is only 4,5 mil and is 6’6 in a Glasner team! Ballard is one, like Ajer, whose points potential with it has been “hidden” by injury/lack of starts and he has real attacking threat too. Bobby Thomas is another who could really rack it up at this level and has the same goal threat.

Disasi potentially playing in a Palace team as Lacroix rep is one to keep an eye on too at only 4,5 mil.

I just can’t bring myself to pay 6,0 for Tarkowski!

Sangare at Brentford could be the same as Anderson at Forest last year priced at 5.5. Defcon monster apparently.

Yes i'm open to the idea of it now you have 2.
Before hand I thought it was a bit of a waste and best linked to a double week.

But no doubles in the first half of the season.
And it's "probably" easier to judge a 15 who will start week 1 than mid season.

Cue ending up with 9 players as more teams than expected ease world cup / signings / etc in.

I have run a mini league for many years now, but what with old age and other commitments, the membership has fallen to practically nothing. If anybody wants to join another mini league here's the code to join n5aacq.

I've ended up avoiding the premium midfielder options for those in the mid price pack. Rogers, Wilson, Gibbs-White, Szoboszlai, Semenyo. Feels like decent value?

GW1 BB

Verbruggen (Kinsky)

Mosquera
Gvardiol
Shaw
Tarkowski
Muharemovic

Anderson
Gross
Bruno
Slob
Hughes (just for minutes)

DCL
Haaland
Pedro

Feedback? Trying a blend of solid defcon players and attacking potential.
