I really like it, really balanced and good DEFCON potential too.

Midfield looks a bit light. Would downgrade maybe Tarkwoski to beef up midfield.

What we thinking of Andrey Santos at £5m? Will he start enough?

Don't think he can be relied upon for much more than a steady stream of two points with the potential for some defcons (that's absolutely no comment on him as a player, I really like what I've seen of him so far) but I reckon he'll play pretty regularly. He's in my draft ATM as an enabler.

We don’t fully know what he can do though, he’ll certainly get defcon but also a keen forward passer and scored a few for Chelsea last year. Think he could be a good option at £5m - who else at £5m is a better option? Adams, Janelt, Norgaard all have similar roles but in worse teams.

Agreed, I think he's a decent option, I just wouldn't expect much. I feel like he may have a few 'pass before the assist' moments which will frustratingly not translate into FF points, but I guess we'll see. Like I said, he's in my draft from the start.

I'm liking this early BB idea. But I think GW2 might be a better option?

Coventry play Hull, that allows you to have two 4.0 jobber defenders from Coventry in your team so maximise costs elsewhere.

That cost saving would allow me to switch from Foden to Mbeumo. I like the idea of two attacking United players for their games against Hull and Ipswich and gives me time to study Foden and see how he does under a new setup.

It also allows you to manoeuvre if there's sudden absentees from players that played in the World Cup.

Yeah definitely BB in either week 1 or 3. Not convinced with trusting Coventry for week 2. Week 3 means Pool, Brighton, Spurs, Villa all come into play.

0-0 against Hull both games last season. It's not really about trusting them for anything more than arguably their easiest game of the season and then they can be banished to the bench forever where they belong. If you're spreading the cash around for a better bench boost, you're gonna have benching headaches more often than not and also more chance that you'll end up pulling an early wildcard to sort it out.

That said it is the sort of season where an early wildcard is more likely anyway as the late world cup returners get up to speed.

I e seen WC4 being touted with the BB then being used GW6. The issue though is getting out of that bench afterwards. You'd likely have to burn all your transfers.

I have a GW3 BB team with no transfers needing to be made till then unless there are injuries. Anything past 4 and yes you will need a WC or multiple transfers that will need to be made.

I don’t think I’ve ever gone a fantasy season without WC during the first international break so yeah my bench spots are there for cover till at least week 5.

I just think there is something to be said about having a bench for fixtures. It actively avoids having to burn transfers and means you can sidestep the odd terrible fixture for certain players.

Having a full Coventry bench means you are forced into transfers at the first sign of injury and you rarely feel confident to start any of them in games.

What do you think? Took a lot of tinkering with. Wanted Mbeumo but couldn't make it work

GK
Lammens
Dubravka

Def

Gabriel
Nedeljkovic
Diop
Giles
Davis

Mid

Bruno
Saka
Mason-Clark
Smith Rowe
Zubimendi

Fwd

Haaland
Jaoa Pedro
Igor Jesus

Probably going for a 3-4-3 formation. Giles and Nedeljkovic will be bench players I think. Was running low on cash

Forwards are ok, like one of the midfielders, not a fan of defence, goalies average.

Good luck.

I think this is dreadful mate, sorry

I think you want cleans/defcons or you want goals, and I don’t think that midfield or defense gives you either reliably.

Couldnt agree more. Saving up to 5 transfers is almost like a wildcard in itself.

If you’re going coventry, then being happy with the main players is vital and saving up transfers is too

Wanted to try an “odd” bench boost squad for gw1 that can go with gw2 and a bit beyond. Wildcard around gw5 seems ideal here.

Raya-Lammens
Calafiori-Gvardiol-Maguire-Kerdioglu-Hume
Rogers-Foden-Gross-Bruno G-Szoboszlai
Haaland-Joao Pedro-Sesko (if fit)

Thoughts?

One of my FPL "rules" when i am doing wildcard (which includes team for GW1), i pick only nailed players. You have too many players with "?" About will they start or not in gw1.

Bruno G, Foden, Sesko, Gvardiol, Kardioglu, Rogers (world cup), Hume (who??!). Also, 11 mil for gks seems too much.

In general, in a long run, teams looks good.

Just my opinion, of course. Maybe your team kicks ass and my team flops miserably. :)

I'm actually kind of amazed you were able to build that, I need to give it a shot. But why 11m on GKs? Even with a BB team, surely 2x 4.5s is better and you can use that 2m for upgrading someone.

If not injuries, i am more and more sure that i am going with this and with BB.

Kinsky/Verbruggen

Mosquera, Williams, Shaw, Diop, Robinson
Bruno, Cunha, Szobo, Gross, Le Fee
Haaland, DCL, Pedro.

Two things for reconsider are Liverpool related because their schedule is easiest in PL;
1. I want Virgil or at least Jacquet. But Jacquet is doubtful and Virgil is 6.5 bloody million and completely fecks my team.
2. Bloody Isak. I think he will score for fun this year. But only way to have him is to replace Cunha/Pedro to Isak/Sarr.

So, i like my team but not having Virgil and Isak bugs me.

That’s a fair point. I guess to go all in on the few teams with “safe” opponents for clean sheets, but I could definitely downgrade and save 2m that could be spend on more explosive players.

As andycole09 says, there’s a lot of maybe-players in there, so of course needs to be cleared a bit before the season starts whether they play. A lot of them are decent from the bench too though, if they don’t start. (Gw1 wildcard in mind here)

We have the chance for a WC4 if they really pop off. But I don't rate them defensively that much. I agree their attack could be good.

Virgil had better stats than Gabriel in terms defcons and goals last year. "Only" 30 points than Gabriel while having not many CSs. Liverpool can't be that bad in defence this year.

But yeah, Isak is more of problem than Virgil. Major dilemma.

Any team with double Haaland looks good to be fair

But they lost Konate, Iraola's defensive issues are well known. I think Liverpool defence is def wait and watch, no need to jump. If they're doing well then we can probably find a cheaper way in.

I’ve gone pretty similar to that, wouldn’t worry about no Liverpool defence though, they’re weaker than last season and were bad enough then.

Lammens, Kinsky
Mosquera, Aina, Shaw, Konsa, Hato
Bruno, WGross, Le Fee, Wirtz, M Fernandes
Haaland, DCL, Pedro

Doubts on Hato/M Fernandes/Wirtz and will prob change them but the rest are in unless there’s injuries. BB GW1 or 3, not decided yet, then WC GW6 if needed.

It definitely feels like everyone is 0,5 mil too cheap. We are a Haaland injury away from everyone being able to buy everybody. Even with Haaland, team is full of players playing for top sides.

as is tradition, i will never log in to it again, nor will i make any transfers, use any of the godless boosts or wildcards or other fantasy impurities that have leeched into the game.

So following on from the BB GW1/2 talk is there an argument for going Haalandless from GW1, BB'ing and then hitting wildcard in GW3 when City play Coventry?

Might allow you to get a jump on everyone else and then hopefully by GW3 some of the World Cup returnees will be back in the first team.

I just don’t like it if he is fit and ready. Two goals as captain and it wipes out your BB and you have to burn a chip to correct it. It just feels to risky for the players that you could have, a lot of them don’t feel secure either.

The majority are going for Haaland.

I think if City did not face Coventry GW1, at least half will go Haalandless, FH GW3 and WC in 4 or 6.

If we both agree with the above, the real question is can Haaland hurt you in GW1? Im not sure, especially if you're bench boosting and can pack out quality for a GW1 or GW2 BB, and still have Haaland for a tasty GW3 fixture.

That being said I'll go with Haaland because I prefer keeping it safe in the early weeks.

EDT: Ignore above! Coventry is GW3

I don't think going without Haaland is a great option.

City historically destroy Bournemouth and this is a Bournemouth team that's lost some of their best players and now Sensei plus new manager.

Haaland, who tends to start fast, will have a really high EO, so if he bangs (high chance), you're already at a disadvantage and it negates the 8 points you're likely getting from BB.

And it's not like the extra funds are gonna be doing much at the start of the season so I just don't see the point.

Im loathe to create a strategy based on an early WC because i prefer keeping it for later in the season (around Christmas) or as a fail-safe when inevitably i need to nuke my team after a few weeks to get on some cheap haulers.
