Are any of you particularly close to these areas suffering from riots?

What is your assessment of the situation, its causes and the competence of the response of the authorities?


During the riots which swept cities in this country a couple of years ago [London particularly but also Manchester and Birmingham] what you might describe as citizen patrols began to form as the police struggled to meet the demands upon them, is the same necessary or happening in Sweden?

Is it true that rioters in the problem areas have been attacking fire-fighters after they've arrived to put out fires?

If there's anything to be learned from the English riots in 2011, it's that the police need to use hard tactics from the very beginning. Rioters and potential rioters cannot be allowed to think they can get away with tearing up communities.

the riots have been a little overblown in the press, the first night was actually some people trying to make some kind of point , the next few nights was just kids setting cars on fire.

and yes, some citizens did take to the streets, it was the parents of the kids that were torching cars, funnily enough the riots stopped soon after.
