FAO Tottenham Hotspur | Fighting Cock Goes Into Meltdown

Cheers for rubbing our noses in it, bad enough he will score against us on Feb 16
I read through the last 15 pages of the Tel transfer thread and didn't see the option thing mentioned once, but rather the opposite being the impression as it was
mentioned time and time again that this was a deal without an option to buy.
Just thought a poster or three would be interested in the fact that indeed it was with an option to buy, and that the option could explain the higher loan fee.

Rubbing it in is just an accidental bonus.
At least I am very much striking from below.

If these details are true (need to click through to see the full tweet) it sounds like a terrible deal for Spurs and I'm not surprised at all that Arsenal and United wanted nothing to do with these kinds of terms.

They'll spend 65-70m euro in loan+transfer fees if they do acquire the player but if Tel opts to stay at Bayern or test the market in the summer then Spurs' option won't count.

So its really like a dry loan with an agreement between the clubs on what the fee will be if he does move in the summer to Spurs and that fee plus the loan fee is a really high number for a 19-year-old attacker without much track record.

Yep, horrendous deal! I’m glad we steered clear in the end even in our dire situation.

This is indeed worse than the terms reported yesterday.
The loan fee is highter and the fact that Tel can refuse to come even if Tottenham wants to exercise the option is a big let down compared
to what was reported yesterday. That potential 6 year contract isn't worth the paper it's written on if this is true.

Bayern are laughing their ass out. 12 m for 6 months loan + 65 million if made permanent.

Seriously man - he isn't going to make a huge difference to Spurs and he can just reject them end of the season.

One thing is the loan fee, Spurs is maybe in a position to take a punt on that, but the fact that he can then reject the move at the end is just horrible.
We have truly been desperate if this is true.

Does he still own the club? Or did he sell his stake too?

They ought to be buzzing. According to a few spurs fans I know, he's the only reason they've never won the Premier league up to now

Liverpool, arsenal are in big trouble now then

He doesn't ownit and never has, about 89% of Spurs is owneed by ENIC and Levy owns about 29% of that

Rumours of a Middle East consortium looking to buy them

Hope we haven't missed the boat on Qatari ownership. INEOS insurance policy seems to have been to try fix things but if it gets really bad, just sell it to Qatar and let them deal with it.

Which would make perfect sense. Massive profit for Joe Lewis. It's as perfectly packaged club as you can get that you you'd want to buy. London location, check. State of art stadium, check. State of art training ground, check.

Last obstacle Daniel Levy removed, check.

He’s actually set them up so well if this is all part of the process ahead of a Middle Eastern takeover.

Pretty sure the last count of their wage to turnover ratio was about 40-45% so those PSR barriers the likes of NUFC and Villa moan about won’t be close to being an issue.

Are Spurs about to cement their place in the PL cartel?

Yeah, Tottenham is perfect candidate for oil money/oligarch takeover. New stadium, London based club, decent prestige/football heritage(member of the so called "big six").

I've expected it to happen for some time now. Thought that maybe Qataris can turn to Tottenham after being rejected by delusional, deranged Glazers. It would cost significantly less and it won't take that much investment to get them to the very top. It would quickly put them ahead of London rivals(Arsenal, Chelsea).

Nah, the reports say the ownership structure isn't going to change. From what I read, the ENIC group/Joe Lewis are more of the orchestrator of the way they work than Daniel Levy. But the Spurs fans here would know this way better than me..

Feck off with that, Newcastle got the Saudi's and we''ve still spent more than they have

Strange take because (a) We didn't spend more than they did (b) The only reason they didn't spend more is because of PSR / FFP. If we had no debt and Qatari ownership willing to inject additional money, we could be spending a feck ton more.

Its a bit silly to compare Newcastle's spending to ours when we have a much higher turnover than Newcastle
Of course it is, but it but it just illustrates that having a state behind you doesn't automatically makes things better

Money isnt our problem, or rather it has created our problems with lazy signings, we can't complain about lack of spending

How much does the club's soul cost?

As a queer United supporter I'm barely hanging on as it is with players like that Moroccan fellow in the squad. Probably would have to walk away after 40 years if we were bought by a mdidle eastern consortium.
