FIFA Club WC, Semi-finals | Wed: PSG 4-0 R_Madrid ; Tue: Fluminense 0-2 Chelsea

Depends what you mean by "comfortably one of the best teams in Europe".

One of the top 20? Top 5?
Not top 5, at least not comfortably. I would say top 10 maybe 12 due to Leverkuson having an off season. We need to beat more 'top' teams though.

PSG, Liverpool and Barca are the only teams clearly a long way ahead of us.

We finished 5 points behind Arsenal and 2 behind city so they are not far ahead.

The only other teams in the argument are Bayern, Inter, Napoli, Real and Atletico, with a possible shout to either Lev or Dortmund.

I wouldnt be scared of any of them, but of course equally we could lose to any of them as well.

I mean I wouldn't be scared of any of them and Utd are rubbish.

All the teams you mentioned are better than you apart from Dortmund. Beneath those there are just loads of teams who are at a similar level and yeah you are in that group.

What the hell is this Dortmund shirt. What is happening in Germany
It's like they've let a small child loose with fingerpaint and sponges.

Knowing Dortmund, the social media engagement offered by having an appalling kit is probably more valuable to them than having a decent one.

Eject those fans in the bottom left corner. Can't see the ball on the tele!

I was just about to have a moan about Dortmund leaving Gittens out due to the transfer speculation. I was looking forward to seeing how well he'd fare against Madrid. Turns out we signed him 6 hours ago.

Niklas Sule has had a few too many cheeseburgers in the last month.

Wild how Alonso already has Madrid playing his football. I was told you need 3 transfer windows, a blood moon, and divine intervention to implement a style.

Only takes about 3 hours of game time for a blood moon to appear.

Well, glad I missed the Bayern game. Dinner was more important.

What an absolute shit show.

This tournament ends with me having watched 2.5 of the 5 games my team played and not a single minute of any other game. Really happy Saudi bought their WC. Gonna be awesome, too.

Salivating over this version of Real Madrid vs PSG.
Same. I wasn't even interested in this competition but now I think I need to get tickets to the semi finals. I just checked but they prices are crazy. I'll check back the day of and see if they get cheaper. I'm just a train ride away I'll just hop on the train if it's under $100. Not spending $500+ to go see a non United team.

Dortmund seem scared to actually pass forward, dribble, cross, shoot. It isn’t exciting.

I agree it’s lame, but don’t thinks it American thing. Never heard done at any sporting event in the US. They started doing it at 2024 World Cup from what I remember. Think it’s just anew fifa thing.
Wow, just looked and tickets in the last row in the upper deck behind the goal (face value) is $200 a ticket. Can't imagine how much the WC tickets will be next Summer.

Technical players and smart players is what you need.

Maybe some better players helps a lot.

Comparing the situations both managers took over is beyond stupid.

While having better players undoubtedly helps, a top manager should be able to implement a clear style of play without needing endless time or a complete overhaul of the squad. Quality players will naturally enhance the execution, but the tactical identity should be visible from the outset.

Take Xabi Alonso, for example — he inherited largely the same group of players that Carlo Ancelotti had, yet the style of football he’s implemented is noticeably different. That’s not to downplay what Ancelotti achieved — he's one of the greatest managers in football history — but it illustrates the point well: a distinct style doesn’t have to wait for a perfect squad to appear.

Yeah it’s insane but I feel like that’s the going rate now for any major sporting event or big name concerts. One of my favorite artist is coming through in the fall and it was like $300 for a halfway decent seat. I’ll just watch a concert dvd instead.

Yeah I’d like to go to a few WC games as I’m located in Atlanta, but I’d like to travel for 1 or 2 games to visit other places but don’t know if I got that kind of cash if I’m spending more on a tickets than flights.

Who said alonso wouldn’t play a back 3 at Madrid?
I said that and i stand by what i said. he will NOT play with three at the back at Madrid, he is just still learning and experimenting with the players.

And the experiment is working by the looks of things. Why would he change what he’s been successful with?
