I enjoyed XII, it was very different and the story was a lot less epic in nature than the previous ones but I still thought it was quite good.

So are these GTA games actually worth investing time in? I liked the original top down version - well for 15 minutes or so before I would get bored a go looking for the tank. But the missions always seemed rather menial, with little variety. I'm forever being told how good the later ones are though, so perhaps it's time to get back on the tank.

San Andreas is pretty funny, and with great soundtrack. I'd easily recommend it.
I still think it's the best, while VC had a great soundtrack it didn't suck me in like SA did. I can still spend ours out on a scrambler listening to K-ROSE.

Of all the GTA's I've played, SA was by *far* the best(or more precisely, the most fun). If I was to vote for one though, it'd have to be III, not only for the quality of game, but for it's massive impact.

I haven't played the new one though, don't like the idea of having to swap characters.

The new one was OK, the character swapping was one of the best aspects in my opinion. What let it down was a poor story and the land was tiny, sure the island was big but so much dead unusable space, it didn't work. I'd rather they just reused the SA map.

Heh, and I remember everyone going apeshit over such a great huge map, shame.

Agreed, it should have been scattered with shops, gyms, food places, bowling alleys, cinemas, bars, clubs - it's even got a casino, a gig venue, a stadium and race track that are utterly useless...just needs a bit more substance to it.

They'll be opened up in the DLC mate I'm sure.

Wait Skyrim was voted ahead of Oblivion and Morrowind? No one tell Redlambs.
Oblivion is shite, probably the worst one. But yeah, it shouldn't be ahead of Morrowind.

I think Oblivion was the one I played(the expansion names seem familiar). Not a particularly enjoyable game. I think I played Morrowind at some point too, but have no memory of it whatsoever.

I also played Redguard once, but didn't get far.

I've played 27 out of those games. 20 of them I've owned or played extensively.
Can't believe any old point and click game like Grim Fandango or Monkey Island didn't make it but I guess it's difficult with only a few to choose from. Not a strategy game on there either from what I can tell, like the Civilization series which I might have played more than any other games.

XII is so underrated. Play it again, you'll probably enjoy it a lot more and realise it's subtle charms.
I actually really enjoyed XII. The story wasn't as gripping as some of the others from an emotional POV, but the atmosphere and gameplay (albeit a bit different to the norm) were great I thought. Excellent voice-acting as well :)

What I specifically hated was the gameplay.

On the other hand, it was an incredibly beautiful game.

Maybe great is a bit far, but I did like the gameplay. It was a gorgeous game, with far less of the fluff and cheese of the more recent ones.

I played 20 of the final 50. Considering I've never owned/played the Nintendo consoles, and so have missed a lot of the Zelda/Mario games, I don't think that's too bad.

Fantastic work again @Duffy. Must take a huge amount of effort and commitment, but the results (and the meltdowns...Revan) are a laugh.

Cheers pal, yeah this one was a bigger pain in the arse than the last two but as you say, it is worth it for the countdown threads.

Ocarina of Time is a worthy winner.

No Counter Strike 1.6 is a joke.

I think since the release of WoW I've spent an actual year playing it, so many good raiding memories..
Indeed. For sheer time spent playing it would be way, way out in front for me.

Don't play anymore, but a phenomenal game. Never been as engrossed in a video game, tv show, movie or any form of digital entertainment like World of Warcraft.
