Absolute nothing player. Pogba was twice the player this guy is and yet got abused by the media.

I'll freely admit that I didn't watch him much in the Bundesliga, so I wanted to reserve judgment. But I've watched him for Liverpool and at 2 International tournaments now, and I have to conclude that he's one of the most overrated players in the history of football. I seriously wonder what all those people who wanked themselves silly over his 'skill' and 'IQ' were watching. Their bar for 'skilful players' must be very low.
 
I just don't get this guy at all. Even Sancho when he could be arsed look dangerous.

Had 3 good moments in the game, which were 3 identical crosses, one of which was the assist for the goal.

But that is literally all he brought to the game.

Don't see a 120 mil player there in a million years.

A lot of these players that “go wrong” so so because they spend years of their careers under coaches who don’t know how to utilize their best qualities. I think he is going to have a really good season.

He did play that position alot last year and was shite at it.

Not sure what has changed? New manager, of course, but his physical limitations are all still there. Also he seems to be a mentality midget.
 
It's looking like Liverpool spent 110m on the German version of Shinji Kagawa.

I wouldn't mind if the press continued to protect him so he keeps stinking out the place at Liverpool under the radar.

The same could be said of Donny VdB for us. There’s talent in there, he just can’t make it work mentally.

The thing it's if someone watched Vitinha in his prior year to Luis Enrique would have been mad to bet a single dime on him winning a CL with a big role. More or less, but to a less extent with Dembele.

Of course it wasn't like watching Aguero in Independiente at 16/17 kind of individual level, but he certainly was a way more focus and determined player with his team all moving around him. Yet I do remember watching him against Aleti in CL prior to his Liverpool move and looking too soft that gameand t he kind of kept that form in EPL. Certainly that price tag and Liverpool having , many of their main players below par didn't help, but he still has to at least get a tad mad and show something more in terms of character, even frustration with himself.

It comes as absolutely no surprise to me to see his team out early. Liverpool would do well just to scratch this off as a failed project and see if anyone will take him, he’ll be bringing them down a level again next year playing such a prominent position.

I didn't see the game but I saw he had an assist to his name. Was he invisible as usual, except for the assist, or is he getting whacked here because he's a Liverpool player?
 
I'm sure if you remove the opposition players from the pitch, he's a decent player.

The latter and because of his price tag. It's clear by now that he is in no way a 120m whatever player and has a huge issue to be a passenger in games.
But yesterday he might've actually been the best attacking player, at least he tried and got into plenty of positions, was looking for the ball and such (plus the assist). Pavlovic, Nmecha, Undav, Musiala, Goretzka and Sane were all miles worse, it's pretty hard to do something when everyone around you moves like a cone.

Pogba did things on the pitch very few players, the likes of Yaya Toure, could do. You know Mbappé means it when he speaks about Pogba. Unfortunately he was unfairly judged at United and his brother destroyed him mentally with the extortion. In his toughest hour he got to see exactly who was still there for him and who wasn't. Yet again, unfortunately, truth was that most are there when times are good and very few remain when times are tough.

Regarding Wirtz. Haha. Where is the guy I debated a year or two years back who said Wirtz was top 3 OF ALL TIME in the Bundesliga? At least Götze (another hype job) scored in the WC final. With that being said I do wish young Wirtz all the best. He can still have more than a decent career. But his abilities and his price tag dont match. He is not a magician on the ball, nor is he fast, clinical or able to grab a game by the neck.
 
Best part is that new manager has to try and fit in this mega expensive signing into his first XI to justify the layout. Long may he stay at Liverpool, they won't do shit if he's the creative fulcrum of the team.

He had a decent second half creating the goal half-chance and providing another great cross to Havertz right after. Still very underwhelming overall.
 
Thought he was decent, Musiala for example was a lot worse than him.
That said yes, he doesn't look like the difference maker he was supposed to be when Liverpool bought him.

His apologists will point to the odd pass or nice flick, but he cost £120m. He’s the eighth most expensive player in the history of the game. He’s so far below delivering the levels required for that fee, it’s laughable.

Seems your standards for him are on the floor. He’s not supposed to be some background ornament, especially so with Musiala desperately trying to find his game after the horrific injury.

He's not, but again, I figure germans are disappointed he's not a star, but I don't think they're gonna hold that against him after he had a good game

I figure sentiment on him today would be "he played well, unfortunately he's just not Matthaus, or even Ballack"
