Florian Wirtz | Der Fußballgott | Der Fluch ist gebrochen!

He’s so bad

Please someone do a compilation showing all his touches v Chelsea. Don’t think he controlled the ball once.

He had that one pretty amazing pass in to Salah and absolutely nothing else

Has yet to adjust to the enormous, gargantuan, planet sized difference in the level of competition he's facing in the Premier League.

Another terrible display. No impact whatsoever, terrible signing so far, for such a huge sum. Already dropped to bench too for a big game.

That one touch/pass was brilliant. Looks shite otherwise

He truly should have come to Bayern. The switch of club, league, and expectations all at once seems too much for him at this point.

Really don't want to turn this into a Bundesliga bashing thread but in what area does he truly excel at?

It was evident with the likes of KDB, Haaland and or other successful switch overs that they clearly excelled at certain things they did but with wirtz it was always somewhat hard to pinpoint what exactly warranted all the praise heaped on his way be it domestically or with German national team.

As it stands he's a bit of a weird proposition, not exactly that great when it comes to creativity or dribbling but he doesn't have the skill set to play on the wings or deeper either.

Just another attacking midfielder from bundesliga.

Anyway. I never considered Ozil to be from bundesliga because he had loads of experience at Real Madrid before moving to Arsenal.

Okay, seriously, what is his problem?

Too slow? Too weak? Too small?

What do people actually think the issue is here because he definitely isn’t this bad even if playing in Germany made him look better than he is.

he will improve a bit next year, after that they will loan him to Leipzig or Roma and he will be playing at PSV or Marseille in season 2029/30.

They said hes very intelligent. So maybe he shines at IQ tests. Member of mensa and all that

Yeah I don't even think it's a PL problem with him right now

Mostly he's got no clue how to fit on this team and his teammates hate him

Didn't he pick Liverpool because he was convinced of how Slot planned to use him?

It's crazy that Wirtz and Gittens were the two best dribblers in the league, yet they can't seem to beat anybody.

He’s German. They’re not cut out to be footballers.

I feel this is true, he isn't receiving the ball as much as he wants/should. There was an occasion when Gakpo had the ball on the wing and Wirtz was completely open next to him, rather than making the simple pass to keep the possession going, Gakpo decided to try and run past 3 players and inevitably lost the ball.

The style of Liverpool and Leverkusen is so different. One is a slow short passing based possession team, the other is just dribble, hoof and shoot.

Does pool really play to his strength? I really dont know what is Slot trying to build. Isak, Ekitike, Writz? Three different types, all attackers. How are you going to play them all? The end result might be suboptimal aka you cant get the best out of them all at the same time. Plus the huge fees make it an obligation to give them minutes, somehow.

So they are going to be there, rotated with one another. Very weird decision.

Is @Zehner still active in this thread? Haven't seen him for a while but I may have missed it...

Does that make him Sean Bean?
Edit- Sean Bean was 006 in Goldeneye apparently. So he's Bean-3.
There was a 009 in Octopussy, and it’s actually quite apt for Wirtz right now

Nice touch to set up Salah and then nothing. Struggling with the pace and physicality of the league but he’s just one part of a larger issue we’re having so far.

He’s a very lucky boy because he’s got nowhere near the amount of criticism he would get if he was a Man United player. It’s almost like the media are trying to hide it as it won’t fit in with their Liverpool love in. Especially for the money they splashed out on him & the hype around him when the signing was announced, he’s been absolutely hopeless.

Dodge a (expensive) bullet. I think he would have worked at Bayern, but I am glad that he decided against them since the money necessary was simply too much. We can’t all have sugar daddies!

Not enough gets made of the fact that the current 2 generations of journalists spent their formative years watching SAF and United dominate everything. That's 20 years of Fergie time winners against their clubs.

He’s looked out of his depth and if this was a United player the media would be having a field day.

The set up doesn’t suit him at all and he’s not showing enough physicality to make up for his inability to influence play yet.

KDB and Wirtz were actually quite similar in the Bundesliga with Wirtz being the clearly better player.

Vision, passes (short and long), good speed, good dribbling, finishing in the box, shots from distance,... They are both very complete attacking midfielders.

I dont know whats the problem with Wirtz right now, but he would be far from the first good player needing some time to settle in the PL.

Obviously he should have come to us for the honor alone. Well, there's always next season

Better than Wolfsburg KDB?
