Florian Wirtz | Der Fußballgott | Der Fluch ist gebrochen!

Bundesliga strikes again, you know when you've been Sanchoed!
Sancho randomly had a very good 10 minute cameo today for Villa. Even actually put some effort in. Probably because he needs a new contract somewhere now.

And Wirtz was 5th in the league this season in that very category if the poster on the previous page is to be believed. Stats without context mean nothing.

The context is that Bruno is a good player and Wirtz is not.

ist flop, man

Imagine the luxury of being able to bring on a £100m + signing from the bench, only for him to turn out to be the epitome of meh

Most Liverpool fans I know are still hopeful he'll be a success under a different manager. Not sure if its hope or what they're seeing because he looks so flat.
Be interesting seeing him in the world cup.

He might improve under new management but I don’t see him justifying his price tag any time soon. Goes to show paying 100 m + for a player is very rarely a good investment.

Antony was a better signing.

Had a much better first season for sure.
Antony’s second season got completely derailed though before it barely began due to the accusations and the forced time off.
You’d imagine Wirtz will have a much better preparation for next season, but I still can’t see him being anything more than decent at best, and average more often than not.

He's way below average at the moment - I don't think many teams would want him in the team if he didn't have a standing from what he did in Germany. Watching what he's done in the PL this season, I doubt he's even PL quality - quite seriously.

At least he doesn’t seem like a player who fits in the Premier League. Still believe there is a very good player there under an actual semi competent manager and a system that suits him. Could see him do quite well in Spain.

He has been awful. It’s a fair assessment now that the season is practically done. He’s also checked out and saving himself for the World Cup where he’ll be unrecognisable from the player at Liverpool.

Yeah, he plays for a poor team in the wrong league. Quite similar to Antony, he could have a revival in a less physical competition.

Would they even get 40m for him if they sold him now?

The only teams that would consider that cost on transfer fee and wages are probably PL clubs, but the premier League is exactly where we know he struggles.

Bayern could see it as an opportunity to get a quality young German player back home for a relatively good fee, but outside of that I'm not sure there's clubs with both the money and the desire for him.

Then I'd argue a very good player in a different league as he looks way off the pace. He plays like I expect Bernardo Silva to play at 38.

Keep saying that he’ll end up at Dortmund on loan with a €30m option in 18months. One of the teams below Bayern will take a punt if they bank a big sale. Leipzig after selling Diomande possibly.

Dortmund already have Jobe Bellingham who they bought for 30m. I think he has registered 0 goals and 2 assists in 30 games. Wirtz would be a huge upgrade and it's more CAM vs CM but I'm merely speaking of the sums and the risk at hand if Wirtz turns out to be Götze 2.0. with low re sell value. Then Dortmund would have two players with no re sell value.

Leipzig on the other could take the risk if they seem it fit.

Bayern already have a lot of options and some obviously being better than Wirtz as well (Olise, Diaz, Musiala, Karl, Gnabry). Their main issue is Musiala who has next year to show whether he still is the teams #10 going forward or if his career is tanking after THAT injury.

They don't have time to rehabilitate Wirtz too unless Musiala gets sold and Wirtz can be bought for roughly the same sum. Musialas wages are extreme which could be a reason to off load but he is also the glue to Davies and Olise + sells a lot of shirts so he will be given a chance for a while yet.

The scary thing about all these talents who made their names in Bundesliga is that once they did bad in PL they couldnt even reach the same heights in Bundesliga anymore

No goals or assists against a side in the top half of the table all season I think.

Maybe he'll improve next season but his debut campaign can't be described as anything other than a bit of a disaster.
