Extremely well is a stretch. He absolutely should have scored his chance, awful miss.Played extremely well today, particularly in the first half.

Did he though?Played extremely well today, particularly in the first half.
He should be playing like the best midfielder in the world for £116 million quid.Played extremely well today, particularly in the first half.
He did, even though people in here of course will pretend he didnt.Did he though?
But you would never pretend he was excellent when he was at best good.He did, even though people in here of course will pretend he didnt.
He was decent, nothing more and certainly no upgrade on what we saw from Liverpool's attacking options last season. He did, even though people in here of course will pretend he didnt.
Is anyone? Seems like most agree he was decent, they just don't think he was notably brilliant. He was good , let’s not act like he wasn’t.
Yeah, but was he £160m good?He was good , let’s not act like he wasn’t.
As United fans, given how our players are crucified for their price tags, we won’t let the most expensive midfielder in history off the hook because he was decent against feckin West Ham.Is anyone? Seems like most agree he was decent, they just don't think he was notably brilliant.
There's a pretty big gap between "good" and "extremely well".He was good , let’s not act like he wasn’t.
I swear his price increases every time I enter this thread.Yeah, but was he £160m good?
Maybe if he actually played a game like the 180m player he's supposed to be, we won't be having this discussion.I swear his price increases every time I enter this thread.
I get that he cost 200 million, so people expect more. But that doesn't mean he suddenly cost more than 210 million.Maybe if he actually played a game like the 180m player he's supposed to be, we won't be having this discussion.
Absolutely. Incredibly underwhelming so far and one decent performance against a terrible West Ham doesn't change thatAs United fans, given how our players are crucified for their price tags, we won’t let the most expensive midfielder in history off the hook because he was decent against feckin West Ham.
As others have said, he needs to put Ballon d’Or performances to justify what they paid for him. Chiesa has had more impact than him
Easiest bait of all time.I swear his price increases every time I enter this thread.
Wah wah wah. You crucify your own players and the media feeds into it and now you're upset the same doesn't happen to teams where the fans don't do that and are trying to make it happen. As United fans, given how our players are crucified for their price tags, we won’t let the most expensive midfielder in history off the hook because he was decent against feckin West Ham.

You conveniently ignore how he had problems in Leverkusen as well in games with the highest intensity, e.g. the final vs Atalanta or against Bayern in the CL.I think that this is only papering over the cracks. More upper body strength would have helped him a lot for us as well. It's simply the next step in his development. He's able to play much better than he did so far with his current build. I just hope he doesn't put on so much weight that it affects his agility too much. Not completely convinced it's a decision to go down that route.
The problem is rather that you don't create space so your players find themselves regularly in situations in which they have to fight for the ball. Your positional play is extremely static.
Say what you like about the lad, but I just don't see him justifying a £185m price tag.Maybe if he actually played a game like the 180m player he's supposed to be, we won't be having this discussion.
It’s actually £195m when you factor in all the Kleenex Liverpool fans buy when he makes a simple one twoSay what you like about the lad, but I just don't see him justifying a £185m price tag.
Don't forget the Leverkusen fans, that's another few million. It’s actually £195m when you factor in all the Kleenex Liverpool fans buy when he makes a simple one two

PS: I think he played well today.
Mate, Bayern was on an 11 championship in a row streak. There were even some Bayern fans that were low-key hoping for another Bundesliga Champion as they believed it would help sharpen the team. That's not really fair, is it? Until the UCL match up, we hadn't lost 5 matches in a row against you and Wirtz was consistently good to great in those games, the only exception being our somewhat lucky cup win earlier that year. Wirtz also excelled against other teams that pressed the hell out of us, like Stuttgart and Leipzig. And in the two UCL matches, he was injured/just came back from a serious injury.
It is just so tough and unfair.Wow the bdl are out in force trying to make us believe he is world class again after a performance which is at best decent. I remember how souness wanted more from pogba in a match in which he gave 4 assists. Not a peep from the media about his performance till now. 0 goals and assists for £160m is astonishing.
Yeah, play a few 5 yard passes vs. relegation fodder. Guess £180m was about right.Wow the bdl are out in force trying to make us believe he is world class again after a performance which is at best decent. You will hardly find any Bundesliga games in which Bayern will play with the same intensity compared to a Champions league game when it really counts.
Stuttgart and Leipzig are no match for that. And again, the Atalanta game was similar...
We United fans have been forces to suffer so much stupidity from pundits and other fans constantly referencing certain players’ price tags, of course we’re gonna think we have the right to be stupid this time around! As United fans, given how our players are crucified for their price tags, we won’t let the most expensive midfielder in history off the hook because he was decent against feckin West Ham.

Isn’t it more the usual two Leverkusen fans?Wow the bdl are out in force trying to make us believe he is world class again after a performance which is at best decent.
