Florian Wirtz | Leverkusen player

Focus reports Bayern and Wirtz already agreed on a deal.
Now Bayern and Leverkusen have to agree on the transfer fee. Allegedly Bayern offers 100 million Euro. Leverkusen want 150 million Euro.
As Wirtz only wants to join Bayern, they will have a hard time to get this much.
Its happening

If the Bild report is true, we want €150M and Bayern is low balling us with a €100M offer. If Wirtz plays along, we don't have much of a choice. €100M is for us like €300M for United. Would you renounce €300M just to send a message?

No ofcourse not... this isn't just about him though.. alot of Dortmund players have ended up there.

I mean if its 100m then its fair game right, but if Bayern get him for say 70m euros, what would be your reaction?

To be honest, even if get €150M I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscriptions and being done with German football. Vote with your wallet and all that. After Bayern's eleventh title in a row I was already tempted to do that but then the last two years happened out of nowhere. It was always clear it could only go downhill from here on but I didn't think it would go that quickly  But I haven't decided yet. Probably I'll still watch the matches of my club and go to the stadium every once in a while because Carro and Rolfes but honestly, I'm almost actively rooting for other Bundesliga clubs to be shit in Europe so that fans get tired of this onesidedness.

Would he really betray his club so horridly by going to a direct rival like Bayern? I don't know much about his character so I have no idea.
Leverkusen aren’t a direct rival and he already betrayed his boyhood club Cologne by moving there in the first place.

It really must seem that way for outsiders but actually no, clubs aren't doing that voluntarily will but because they're forced to and fans absolutely hate it. Götze for instance had to warm up in the catacombs when he played against Dortmund for Bayern because it was so dangerous for him to be in front of the stands in 2014. Unfortunately, Bayern has the league in a stranglehold. I have no idea what kind of voodoo magic Hoeneß pulls off to convince a player of Wirtz' calibre to play along in their low ball domestic rivals strategy but BILD reported it worked. Can't wait for Hoeneß to be sent into a nursery home. I absolutely despise that man.

90% of Cologne fans didn't even know who Wirtz is when he joined us. So that's hardly comparable, don't you think?
It’s not voodoo. It’s just that fans of other clubs often seem to underestimate our appeal due to their resentment. It’s by far the biggest club in the country, one of the biggest in the world, you get to win lots of trophies, it’s great for your position in the national team, it’s great for sponsorship deals and the like, they don’t have to learn a new language (unless you count Bavarian as one) and are usually closer to home than they would be otherwise. All while living in a beautiful city.
Yeah, it’s voodoo magic.

I don't underestimate your appeal. I always expected Wirtz to be open to a move to you but not that he'd be willing to let his contract run down because of that when Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested. That's a completely different story that enables the low balling strategy.

It was like that with Neuer and Lewandowski, too. So it’s really not unusual.

Im not even mad, just incredibly bored by this joke of a league with no real competition. I love my club and therefore I wont be able to completely let go of watching the Bundesliga but Im getting less and less interested with every title Bayern inevitably wins and every top player joining them to manifest this monopoly. Lets see how many more years of this it will take before something has to change.

They had nowhere near Wirtz' market value. I think you offered €30M for Lewandowski one year before his contract ran out.

It's his destiny, get over it!

Non-troll though: i don't want to lose him to another league, that would be the worst outcome for German football from this affair.
I obviously would prefer to have him at my club, but I wouldn't mind seeing him at Real or Barca or a big PL club. And no, that doesn't include City where I absolutely don't want to see him play.

Exactly my thoughts, except for the part about not being mad

I'm so jealous of La Liga, Serie A and Premier League

At least this officially ends some fantasies of some delusional users here who though we'd have a chance of getting him

Neuer was the most prolific keeper on the market for years and United was heavily interested. Lewandowski was chased by Real.
Neuer is a very similar case, because it was obvious at the time, that we agreed a deal with him long before the contract ran out. Like with Wirtz. Nobody else had a chance from that moment onwards.
And that market value argument gets made every time. Neuer is too valuable, you won’t get him like that. Lewandowski is too valuable, you won’t get him like that. Götze is too valuable…
All players had plenty of suitors, were immensely hyped and still ended up agreeing deals with us.

I think one factor might really be, that we tend to build and maintain relationships with players, that last for years before they join us. They know we want them not because they are performing right now, but because we believe in them and have plans for them. We’re just really good at giving them the feeling of being wanted, needed and able to grow with us.
I would prefer to move to a club like ours, who charmed me for years, than a club who got interested lately because I am on a great run. Feels more secure.

Maintaining relationships with players is fine, we do the same, but that doesn't mean that a player s willing to wait two years for you when other elite clubs are interested. And no, Neuer and Lewandowski were never in that mould. Plus, there was never any indication that Wirtz would be complicit in this - until a week ago, the very same media that are now reporting he only wants to Bayern claimed that he prefers Madrid over City over Bayern. Add to that that the last player Bayern managed to convince of doing that was probably Goretzka so quite some time has past since then. Especially so in terms of high profile signings.

One way or another, I hope we still pull something off to prevent this. Wouldn't even mind if Bayern lowballs us completely and we decide to keep him around for another two years. Would probably be my preferred scenario, actually.

Nothing has happened yet. And Carro can be a Levy.

If Bayern really only wants to pay €100M, that's €50M per season. We declined a €25-30M offer for Tah and Wirtz is easily twice as important. Come on Fernando, make it happen!

The club who signs him shall playi him as a "free playmaker nr.10 ".....that is how you get not only the best out of Wirtz, but most others nr.10 playmakers too.

Like Cunha......Zidane and Kaka back in time. As a coach. You just don't tell Zidane and Kaka how to play football. Just tell them where to play. The position.....then during the match. They will naturally and instictly roam all over the pitch in the attack.

Defensive the might and shall stick to theirs position. But in the build up and attack. They shall got the freedom " To express themselves "

So example if he goes to Bayern Munich. Then it would be

Olise - Wirtz - Sane + Kane

I think and believe he can do a really good job as LCM/8 = the Iniesta role.

Like this in a 433/451 formation

Olise - RCM - Kimmich - Wirtz - Sane + Kane

His best postion = free cam nr.10 playmaker
Second best = LCM/8

You might be lucky, but you are forgetting Bayern's best player.

Amen.

I still can't get over the possibility of a front four like that:
------------------Kane--------------
Musiala---Wirtz------Olise

Sounds too good to be true. And behind them Pavlovic is blossoming. There is a good chance that we are about to form a special team. I love it. I really hope we pull this off.

It is outrageous considering his age and future contract negotiations
It is not only too much for the Bundesliga, but also too much fot the top teams in the PL. Not even we who offers stupid money would ever dream of offering these types of money.

That's their strategy. Better the money ends up with the pöayers than with the competition ;)

True blessing for the league, that club

Your hate boner for us is getting boring.

Your club was the first "plastic club" in germany. Only because you are longer around you are not better than RB Leipzig.
Fans of real traditional clubs have all the right to complain about plastic clubs like you when it comes to an unfair competition in the league.

Your club broke the gentlemen agreement by getting Wirtz from Cologne (oh and please dont start again with the "Blabla we bought him for our first team" bs, he was a youth player at Cologne, you bought him against your agreement).
Then this player led you to two titles and the best season in your history and now he is probably getting you 120-140 millions.

And all you are doing is acting like a spoilt child that gets one of its toys taken away.
Pretty embarassing for a grown man to be honest.

It's the same contract they've given Musiala. Really has the potential to bite them badly in the ass if either of them don't work out.
Its a very big contract and i dont think we will be able to extend Musiala or Wirtz at 25/26.
But i think they go to England/Real/Barca no matter what at that age.

Even if none of that was wrong, when some Bayern fans keep waxing lyrically about the benefit of the money and player staying in Germany, while paying through the nose, you can't be surprised your rival losing their best player is upset.

And we all know it'll be a few months before Würschtle Uli proclaims Wirtz undying love for Bayern, which of course had nothing to do with an obscene wage even City would blush at

All of you acting (and crying) as if the transfer is already done is quite amusing to be honest.

Being upset is totally fine and understable.

Constantly whining about the unfair competition in the Bundesliga when you are fan of a plastic club that is backed by a billion dollar company is embarassing.

And dont even get me started on the whole "im thinking about cancelling my pay tv subscription to send a message" thing.

Great post, except for the part where you left out Bayern's best player from your fantasy line ups.

It’s definitely sadder when you see signs of life, only for the choke to get cinched in tighter.

If you choose to see it as Wirtz qualifying for a promotion from just a bundesliga player to a fully-fledged Bayern Munich bundesliga player, it's not even slightly outlandish or horrifying. It's actually weird Bayern didn't promote him sooner.

Fascinating to see them cut wages, testing players during contract renegotiation, calling their bluff, and then get ready to splash out.
